Hi! Great video. You mentioned how senior year is a great time to work on your personal statement. So ideally when you finish your DAT the summer between junior and senior year, have all your prerequisites done, you give them your gpa, rec letters, and fill out the dental admission application do they require your personal statement along with the application or can you submit it later?
I have been a dental assistant for 2 years now. I have worked with 8 different dentists. Do you think having those 8 letters of recommendations from the doctors should be okay? or should i still ask my professors for letters
Thank you for your question! Dental schools require a certain amount of letters from certain people. They require usually a minimum of two science professors who you took a course with in college to write on your behalf. Most dental schools also require one dentist to write a letter on your behalf. The main national application service allows three to four letters of recommendations. Some schools are very specific and ask for additional letters so you have to be very strategic in who you allow to fill up the space on your main application to write on your behalf. If you get too many dentists to write on your behalf and none from science professors who you took courses with, your application won't be complete and wil notl be considered. Watch one of the first video I ever made when I go over that and explain the different letters that are needed and also watch the video I made about getting letters of recommendations as well. That’s a great question! So with Covid, you can still have advising zoom meetings with your professors to benefit the same way as if you went into their office. Talking and explaining how may need additional study recommendations, going over concepts on exams, things of that nature. Stay tuned I’m covering this very topic in a future video!
