    Why did he begin to go the wrong way around the roundabout and then go straight across it, all without their sirens on? I don’t believe that’s one of the exemptions they can use even in a pursuit

      Being offside of a keep left Bullard is likely the exemption claimed in this case but as a blue light driver myself, I do agree not having sirens on and claiming exemptions in a heavily populated area with lots of pedestrians and heavy traffic is not appropriate nor safe.
      Poor behaviours exhibited by some of these vehicles in terms of blue light driving

      Exempt from keep left bollards.
      Can disobey speed limits
      Can also contravene red ATS signals, they essentially become a "give way" to traffic on green.
      You're also making a far bigger deal of it than it actually was, they're advanced drivers, they are incredibly well trained, and are in the top 1% of all UK drivers as an approximation, they were nowhere near hitting anyone either.

      From the videos of all those firearms units it's pretty obvious they were looking for someone. If you were walking along and someone near you was a threat to you and everybody else, I'm sure you'd be happy for the armed police to take shortcuts to get to them.

      So they are just random letters to recognise a vehicle, there is no link with the unit, the precinct, etc?

    • @officialseg

      They are just callsigns, so if a vehicle is on scene, they would say e.g. GKK is on Scene

    I see British police units have red/blue lights rear facing. Why not front facing as well?

    • @kevint7072
      @kevint7072 2 роки тому +13

      Red lights are only ever rear facing in the UK

    • @BritishEmergencyVideos
      @BritishEmergencyVideos  2 роки тому +10

      The red lights are only rear facing in the UK as they serve the purpose of indicating that an emergency vehicle is stopped. In the case of the police, it can mean that the lane or roadway is closed and that you MUST NOT pass.

    • @OwenBenGaming
      @OwenBenGaming 2 роки тому +13

      @@BritishEmergencyVideos not strictly true. Rear Reds unless a traffic advisor present simply mean that the vehicle is stopped or extremely slow moving and creating an additional hazard in the roadway. In essence they are an extra set of hazard lights
      Rear reds will automatically come on as an addition to the 999 sequence when the at scene button is pressed on the control panel of most Genysis/wheelan Emergency warning system controls.
      Obviously if a TA is present and says do not pass then doing so is an offence but rear reds alone do not mean do not pass.

    • @sebby324
      @sebby324 2 роки тому +3

      They are warning lights

    • @johnduffy2
      @johnduffy2 2 роки тому +1

      Same with a lot of Irish emergency vehicles. Rear facing reds are sometimes referred to as "traffic calming" lights. We are used to seeing red lights at the rear of a vehicle so these serve to highlight the rear of the vehicle while on blues and most often when they are stationary. On some light panels the rear reds are only activated when the "arrive scene" mode is switched on which also switches off the high intensity white beams/ white strobes forward facing as they are not required at the scene of an incident as they would blind anyone working in the immediate area of the vehicle.

    Police cars look in tatters.....

    • @thefiestaguy8831
      @thefiestaguy8831 2 роки тому +1

      There is no point in repairing them, they will inevitably be involved in collisions, provided the damage is not significant, and does not warrant it being taken out of service, it can be used. I’ve driven plenty of police cars in far worse state, very rarely will the damage ever be repaired, why?
      Because it’s pointless, spending hundreds to repair it, only for it to the be dinged again weeks/months later, it’s deemed fair wear and tear, and the fleet are typically refreshed every 3 years aanyway with brand spanking new cars.
      Most of the dents you see on side panels, especially near the doors, rear quarter, or front quarter near the wheel arch, are caused by collisions with members of public, usually at junctions or roundabouts. They happen quite often.

  • @davidhumphreys4516
    @davidhumphreys4516 2 роки тому

    Thats some of the worst blue light driving ive seen. The police should know better, you cant bully you way past other road users nor use the pavement. If these actions had been reported the drivers would of been charged under the RTA. Blue lights dont let you do as you please.
