This is really cool. I like the bible teaching tip of removing words from text to see its value or meaning.

serious question. what does TK think of women pastors? I am genuinely curious.

The PCA, of which Tim’s church Redeemer is a member, doesn’t allow women to be teaching elders. Tim adhered to a complementarian understanding of men’s and women’s roles.

The only thing "uncomfortable" about this interview is the level of candor presented by Keller and Guthrie. This is what happens when you get the questions right. Some of us want the Church to be a particular way, which often requires a departure from the full context of Biblical text.

What book is she quoting from? I would like to read it

If you even wanted to see what 'over-asking' questions looks like, you certainly have a great example of here with this interview (she is clearly a performer!).

Why did she tell him that anecdote about speaking in front of him? So awkward.

I don’t believe that Charles Spurgeon ever said he was teaching the Bible. He referred to his role as “Preaching the word” or “Preaching the word of God”. There is a difference! Cannot the Holy Spirit guide you when you are preparing a sermon?

I agree, but would ad “creepy!” I have emailed Ligonier a few times about my concerns regarding Guthrie teaching the Bible on ref net or anywhere else for that matter! She is in great danger and needs to be properly disciplined!

One more comment: Keller has referred to at least 2 women now on how to “teach” the Bible. In both examples there is no mention of God, the Holy Spirit, guiding you as you reflect on his word! Is it not assumed that you are using your intellect when being guided by the Holy Spirit?! In reformed theology, you are taught how to properly understand and preach the word of God. This can be done by discipleship within the church, or in seminary. Spurgeon never went to seminary! He was discipled by true MEN of God within the Church whose role was to preach the Gospel!!!!!!

There are a lot of "non-white" cultures that have less "back and forth" than "white" churches. "Non-white" and "white" as skin color descriptors are far too general of terms.

A very scripted interview, and a bit awkward. But good to hear Keller’s insights as always.

No offence but Nancy Guthrie doesn't seem genuine. Super eager.
BTW Eastern meditation isn't about "suppressing" rational thought.

If you'd ever read any of her books, or seen her speak about her and her husband's heartbreaking losses of their two infants, you'd know she is genuine.

Amen, Bob! I just took one of her Bible studies: “The Lamb of God” seeing Jesus in the Old Testament. It was great!
