I love a good organization video, this was excellent, thanks! I’m thinking about trying out PAL for my two rising PreK/K even though I have all the AAR books and resources from my older two. AAR worked great for my older two, but I like the integration of writing and spelling with PAL.
I have a video coming out in two weeks that shares why I picked PAL over all about reading and that should answer some questions BUT I do hope to do a comparison video in the future. I’m just trying to get a little further in PAL before doing that because I want to make sure everything I say is accurate.
Where did you find the option to purchase the student book as a digital? Or is that in the dvd somewhere. This is something I haven’t been able to figure out but wish there was and option for.
How has this gone? I've been using AAR pre reading course with my preschooler because it worked so well for her older sibling, but she just isn't retaining much. She's interested so that's not the problem. She loves the Zebra and asks to do her lessons all the time, but is just struggling to retain the letter names and sounds.
They are very different I want to make a video comparing but I’m trying to get a little further into the pals program before doing so. Obviously the biggest difference is this is all of language arts not just reading but it also works on reading from a different angle. It exposes your child to a lot of phonics rules and blends very early on. It doesn’t expect them to memorize them or implement them perfectly but it has them practicing with a wide variety right from the jump. AAR is more methodical introducing one or two concepts at a time and is a little more mastery style. I see pros and cons to both ways. I promise to share more in future videos
@@LifeintheMundane Thank you! I'll probably start with AAR since that's what we already have, but definitely keep this as an option if I see we are needing something different.
does anyone find this curriculum hard to reuse for multiple kids? Will you need to buy a new workbook or materials when its time to teach the next child? is the curriculum "reusable" friendly?
My 8yo is struggling with AAR; we re-started Level 2 and it's becoming a dreaded thing in our homeschool. Would you say PAL Reading is a good program for an 8yo?
PAL is a great program and can be used for kids kindergarten through 2nd grade. That being said it is teacher intensive, not a bad thing just not as open and go as AAR. It’s a very different approach. I’m hoping to do a comparison video soon but I did do this what you need to know video that might help too ua-cam.com/video/ZMHtgYh8zAU/v-deo.htmlsi=yVffG7lZjwYYeUA9 ua-cam.com/video/SLZMQ62dnjk/v-deo.htmlsi=-EoLy5eSVUe8C4lB
I’m a little confused about the age/grade range. It states K-2. Should I plan to start in K and go through it in 3years ? If not and we finish it in one year, are we supposed to repeat it each year? If you’re supposed to go through it in a year, what do you do after kindergarten?
@@LifeintheMundane Thank you so much! I think I will use it for 1st and 2nd grade then. I’d rather just play and learn as my little one is interested for kindergarten. ❤️
Thank you for this video. It helped so much because I felt overwhelmed when I opened the box.
Glad it was helpful!
This is the exact video that I needed! Thank you for sharing your tricks and experience. I now feel confident that I can do this!
Wonderful!
This video helps so much as we are prepping this curriculum for this year! Thanks for walking us through it!❤️
So glad it could help! Hope you enjoy the curriculum as much as we have
Very nice video!!!. I love the way you explained everything!. Thank you for the ideas!. We love the curriculum so far
I’m so glad your loving it 🥰
This was so helpful!! I just purchased the program, and it's a lot of material to organize. Thank you so much! 😊

Hi Katy! Are you able to make a compare / contrast of IEW Reading and All about Reading 1?

@@LifeintheMundane Thank you!
This video is soooooo needed. thanks 🤩
You’re welcome
Super helpful!
So glad this helped
Can you compare the pals program to the all about reading program. To me it seems very similar other than the added writing in iew
I will have a video on this coming out in April

Its on the CD's

It is going well.
How do you choose between using PAL and All about reading?
I’m actually going to have a video on this very topic coming up very soon!
How would you compare this program with All About Reading? I'm between the two right now.

It’s a two year program that can be completed anytime between k-2nd grade. In my humble opinion I would say 1st & 2nd or late kindergarten to 1st

@@PollyPatriot Yes that's a great plan
for what age is this for? my daughter is 7 but still not reading..
This would be great for a 7year old
