Take this from and Arsenal fan AND someone writh refereeing experience (amateur)..the first offense was a foul during restart (the throw in)..not before..secondly you said the law well but misterpreted it...the key word is "promising attack"...Martinelli pushed the opponent in the opponents half...at that instant thenref is in every right not to qualify that as a promising attack...it is more of an attempt to delay restart...you see there is no "promising attack" with dead balls....there is "delay of restart"....so that rule does not apply. Now the second yellow, because the ball was in play, qualifies for an attempt to interfer with or stop a promising attack. Now IF he had let that go for anther advantage play, then at the final stop Martinelli would have gotten ONLy one yellow for the foul in attemp to delay restart....makes sense?
That is if Martinelli stop the throw in with 2 attempts, then he will be punished with 1 yellow card. But that wasn’t the case. First He pushed when the player try to throw in. 100% a yellow card. The referee played an advantage which is 100% correct thing to do. He will come back to that foul and yellow card Martinelli. But Martinelli committed another foul on a totally different play also 100% a yellow. 2 yellow and a red 100% correct

Fact: Martinelli has a right to a warning before being dismissed for a second yellow card offense. He didn’t receive a warning so he can’t be dismissed in that situation. It’s very clear what needs to happen now. There needs to be an additional hand signal made by the referee which not only indicates ‘play on advantage’ but also indicates ‘yellow card offense’. This means the players will be aware that advantage is being played but a yellow card offense has been committed. The offending player will have received his fair warning and then is free to receive a second yellow if he commits a further offense during the succeeding passage of play.
One problem might be that the player doesn't see the referee give that signal, as I think might me the case here, or he could pretend not to have seen it.
@@clinteranovic8075 true but the onus will be on the offending player to look at the ref or get a shout from his team mates, the ref will have done his duty and signaled his intention.

Solution is simple, encourage good refreeing and punish bad refering. Have two tiers of refreeing Premier league and Championship then lower leagues. Referees can be promoted or relegated. Based on point system every game. Voted by managers n skippers. Every season relegate undeserving ref and promote better ones from lower tier.
That's how it goes, every game a referee gets a grade and the best referees are promoted. Also if you read the rules, this is good and correct call by the ref
Yesterday. Man Utd players sorrounded the referee and were shouting for him to show Brighton Dunk a red card even when he was not the last man. Ronaldo in particular was shouting furiously at the referee, n no card was shown, but when Gabriel did it against Man City very mild, they say Arsenal is indisciplined. Double standards with English referees
It’s man Utd they get away with every thing. Rules don’t apply to them. You can tell from the commentators that they are hurting, that man Utd are not doing well…they will do everything in their power to make sure man Utd gets into the top 4.
If that decision was against Man Utd. This would be a different conversation. Such a disgraceful decision and because it is against Arsenal. It is okay by many people.
Why should Martinelli get booked for the push (the trying to stop the throw one) when the guy manages to take the throw in anyway and the ref allows the game to carry on and Wolves go on the attack. It wasn’t dangerous just petulant and it didn’t succeed anyway. Second incident was rightly a yellow card. Surely you can’t get booked for trying to prevent a throw happening (unless it’s dangerous play) and you fail to prevent the throw being taken and the ref is ok to play on ?
You can get booked for trying to blocka throw or a free kick, but the ref should have called it back in order to book gabi. The throw was also a foul throw so the ref can't play advantage on a foul throw.
If Martinelli knew he was on a yellow he wouldn’t commit the second foul! Anti football for not attempting to play the game in the right way, I’m glad he got sent off , what’s this “free hit” “take one for the team” “professional foul” BS , remember the refs are human too they see the dirty tactics players pull every week yet the refs are the ones in the spotlight, they’re not perfect but in this instance martinelli knew exactly what he was doing stop the attack as if a yellow card is part of this free hit mentality! That’s not football that’s cheating .
Jiminez was booked then booked again for another incident after the first card was issued. Martinelli was unjustly punished cos the ref wanted his name in lights. The maverick. Or clown for me.
I don't see anybody talking about how he was fouled before all this happened or how the ball was outside the pitch, when he committed the anti-deportic action, and if the referee believe there is a sanction for a yellow card, he needs to stop the game, give the yellow card and redo the throw in... Poor management of the gane by the referee...
Peter Walton is a clown. I think ex players should be encouraged to become referees. They understand the game and would get more respect, especially a player who had titles like Rio.
Referee are the boss, we've seen VAR allowing offside goals several times. And this one, 2 yellow cards, how come thats a serious challenge and if you've given an advantage it is not the yellow card to be shown for the second time, it should've been red immediately. Such a mishandling by referee, a shame for English Premier League officials to have handled the situation so badly.
Actually Arsenal should thank the referee for booking him twice before giving him a direct red for the bad behavior in the first one. So they can miss Martinelly for only one game. Because he should have got a direct red for the push on wolves player's face.
Do people who pay good money to go and watch football really want players sent off for what he did? The opposition maybe. Come on add them together it's nothing.
Disgusting. If that is a red card it means every single challenge in football pitch is a yellow card and i havent seen this happen. I have seen bad challenges without punishment. For two small fouls in 5 seconds to earn two yellow card in a row that its to punish one team and not fair for the game. Stupid reffs. You are there to be fair and keep judge without being protagonist.
A yellow card is a warning though as Martinelli didn't get one end of story never two yellows becoming a Red then in that case. So that guy that came on and said you have to only look at Martinelli is a cop out.
@@andrewg3768 Why would a second warning has to be shown? Also, 2 yellow cards from 2 successive matches (one from each match) results in a one match ban. And 5 yellow cards also means a one match ban. 10 warnings (As long as it's just a warning.) means no punishment.

Refs talking absolute bs!!
@@dunkindeeznutz yeah of course but not if they take it and the ref is happy to play on. You are also correct on the foul throw.
This was bad as Van Persie getting send off for kicking the ball away .....
First thing the show was a foul throw because martinelli put off the thrower... so there wasn't any advantage to play
Waffle House this English media and referees 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
It was a foul throw by podance so all the refs fault
Exactly my thoughts
Lol...does a panel referee ever contradict an on field official ?? Talk about closing ranks !
Robbie awesome in this vid
Wow, Rio Ferdinand is annoying. Pundits who think they know the laws better than referees.
U think refs in England now the law 🤣
Tell me what the purpose of a yellow card ?
Well the ref clearly missed the foul throw.
I think Rio is more sober than any English ref
Premier league referee is a stupidity of the world fifa please we don't want any referee from England 🙏🤮🤢🤢
Two yellows all day. Martinelli is at fault, not the referee.
Foul throw all day! But I guess they don't count at the highest level.
Disgrace. Still pisses me off
Peter Walton is a clown. I think ex players should be encouraged to become referees. They understand the game and would get more respect, especially a player who had titles like Rio.
The ref was right
How? Ha missed the foul throw.
@@dunkindeeznutz it wasn’t a foul throw
Referee are the boss, we've seen VAR allowing offside goals several times. And this one, 2 yellow cards, how come thats a serious challenge and if you've given an advantage it is not the yellow card to be shown for the second time, it should've been red immediately. Such a mishandling by referee, a shame for English Premier League officials to have handled the situation so badly.
If this is 2 yellow why is that shown in every game not just this game !!!
Actually Arsenal should thank the referee for booking him twice before giving him a direct red for the bad behavior in the first one. So they can miss Martinelly for only one game.
Because he should have got a direct red for the push on wolves player's face.
Stop being sentimental that direct red card ur very green on football
Should be one of those deluded new fan, this one knows nothing about football
Do people who pay good money to go and watch football really want players sent off for what he did? The opposition maybe. Come on add them together it's nothing.
You're all saying Peter Walton is a prat and that he isn't worth listening to... Yet you listen to Michael Owen and Rio Ferdinand
Yellow card is also known as a caution , what the point of he doesn't know he's on one
A yellow card is not a warning.
If it's a warning then there is no need to show a second yellow card.
Refs in England are bade 1000% true.
If a Man United player has done that Rio would be like where is common sense? this and that....what a load of crap
That consultant referee is a coward.
A yellow card is a warning though as Martinelli didn't get one end of story never two yellows becoming a Red then in that case. So that guy that came on and said you have to only look at Martinelli is a cop out.
A yellow card is not a warning.
If it's a warning then there is no need to show a second yellow card.
@@Araqius yes thats how they know its a warning.
@@andrewg3768
Why would a second warning has to be shown?
Also, 2 yellow cards from 2 successive matches (one from each match) results in a one match ban.
And 5 yellow cards also means a one match ban.
10 warnings (As long as it's just a warning.) means no punishment.
@@Araqius 5 yellow cards is a match ban but I don't think two yellow cards in two consecutive matches is a ban, I've never seen that happen anyway.
@@Araqius the first yellow card acts as a warning to not do silly challenges or kicking the ball away or interfere with the ball when a free kick is taken and that sort of thing
How does he know he is on a yellow? Ridiculous call!! No other team.
If a defender stop a certain goal with his hand, he know he is on a red. No need for the referee to tell him.
Unless he has no idea about the football rules.
The truth is that referee is always against us
A yellow card means a “warning” no? So basically Martinelli has been sent off for not knowing he’s been warned? I get that technically it is a sending off, but like rio said common sense isn’t around in football anymore. Give him a yellow and tell him that the next one he commits he’s off. How is Martinelli supposed to know he’s on a yellow when the card hasn’t been brandished yet. Yet another rule that needs to be looked at, or maybe it’s time for the FA to look at these dinosaurs they pick out of retirement homes that they call referees

@@Araqius holy shit lol completely just went over ur head. What is ur definition of a yellow card if not a caution or warning?
@@yaboi5509
It's a punishment.
If you recieve two yellow cards from two successive matches (one from each match). You get banned for one match.
If you recieve a total of five yellow cards. You get banned for one match.
No many warning you get (As long as it's just warning), you won't get any punishment.

You think that souds logical?
Why give/show the second warning if you are going to shoot/send-him-off anyway?

If a defender use his hand to stop a certain goal, he immidiately know he get a red card. No need for the referee to tell him.
Unless he has no idea about football rule.
Similarly, if a player push his opponent in the head, he immidiately know he get a yellow card.
Unless he has no idea there are tons of witness (including video tape).
If Martinelli were the referee and an opponet push an Arsenal player in the head, what would he do?
Give an opponent a red card?
Give an opponent a yellow card?
Just simply give a foul?
Or no foul?
Premier league refrees are just a joke
Total bolloxxs , offered by total wankxxr referees; go watch the incident again and Martinelli thinks its an Arsenal throw its never a yellow, how many players go for the ball when they think it’s their throw, how many yellows issued ? Ok the shove in the back, its a foul, I’ve seen them given as a yellow I’ve seen them not, the bigger issue here is the ref calling it a goal scoring opportunity, if he’s right then all the referees are getting it wrong.
