MAY NOT BE HELPFUL, but when I told my ma my want to start cloth diapering, and I said how much they were(like $20 for 6 COVERS, not even inserts) she told me how she would fold up hand towels and safety on them on me. I hope you can get some, everything for covering butts is expensive cloth or disposable, but disposable is atrocious on the wallet. I don't know if I was any help, I doubt it, but in a pinch or in a bad scenarios find something thick and safety pins.

You just helped me to make the decision to cloth diaper! Thank you, not intimidated anymore.😊 Since there’s a massive formula shortage right now, it got me thinking that cloth diapering was the best way to go. Plus, saving tons of money will help! My last pregnancy was 18 years ago, so this all feels brand new again. Thanks again for the most realistic diapering video out there!

some regions may not have had the same access to products or they were cost prohibitive to most in the area so the stores may not have carried them the same as we had. remember there are places in the way out that are very different than where you live. before the internet you could only get what you stores had , catalogs or the tv 800 numbers. just be reminded that some places in 35/40 years ago were still the boon docks. in the late 70's a new family moved to town and the had never had refrigerated milk. they had only ever had evaporated milk in the cans. watched the open the can with one of the openers that made a triangle, pour out milk into a bowl of oatmeal and then add tap water. it blew my mind. they just didn't have "regular" milk where they were from.

The family I used to nanny for used cloth diapers and they bought them used and used them for both of their girls and they lasted for a while. She would sew any that started to come apart. It was a little weird at first, but I do like them better than regular diapers and the girls rarely got diaper rashes and they lasted longer than a regular diaper. I highly recommend

My six month old is cloth diapered and she has had maybe one or two rashes and they cleared up fast, too. I mostly use the pocket style and right now I like to padfold a flour sack towel and use that as my insert inside the pocket. I also use 5 layer charcoal bamboo, but am sometimes having leaks with those after doing research I wouldn't recommend 5 layer charcoal bamboo inserts and instead would recommend some sort of cotton to anyone new.

Hi Kelly thank you for the cloth diaper training video. My son and daughter-in-law expecting baby boy in April and she has stocked up on cloth diapers. Back in my day LOL I use cloth diapers on my kids too cuz my first son had reactions to disposable diapers back then and those days they put a stent in it and I think that's what Prodigy skin. Being the fact that all the shelves in stores have no cloth diapers call Stivers at the best way to go. It'll take me a couple times practice. Back in the olden days we had to use pins which I hated. So one side Master this when I babysit I will be fully knowledge on today's modern day diapers LOL thank you so much for sharing this it was perfect timing I sure will be here around April 11th but I'm his dad's birthday if we're lucky LOL have a blessed day.

My personal preference/favourite are diaper covers with a bamboo insert that I fold in a "receiving blanket" type of prefold. Works amazing for my chunky heavy wetter during those nap times or nighttime a when they tend to leak for us with the pocket diapers during those sleep times. (Just what worked for my specific baby) :)

I do the exact same pretty much. I like & use the Thirsties duo wrap size 1 covers exclusively for the newborn-4 month stage but my favorite covers for one size are definitely Blueberry! And having already cloth diapered one baby from birth to potty training I can say that the Blueberry covers stand the test of time so are definitely worth the investment and feel confident recommending them to new cloth diapering parents. They are such superior quality to all the covers I have tried. I am buying only Thirsties size 1 & Blueberry one size covers for this next baby. I'm 16 weeks pregnant with #2. I had to toss all the Flip covers I had bought & used with my son.
I also use one size pocket diapers but just for night time & long car rides. I stuff my covers & pockets with flats (I tossed our old microfiber inserts in the trash but will try to just give the new ones we get away). When my son outgrew the small prefolds last time I switched to flats exclusively and love them now. I probably will be buying GMD newborn & small prefolds for baby #2 though so I don't have to mess with folding flats the first few months. All the cheap flats we used before ended up as house rags. I use nothing but flats (& flannel receiving blankets) as inserts after the infant stage though, basically as soon as I can just pad fold flats and lay them in covers.

Girl, I was so overwhelmed when I first started. I had tons and tons of inserts, prefolds, AIOs, just everything! I bought SO much, it was unnecessary, I gave half of them to my cousins when their baby was born, and still have so many. I made the mistake of buying newborn diapers, which I would recommend a few of them if you can afford them, just because babies are so small at first and in my experience, the diapers swimmed on her the first month or so, but they aren't necessary if you have a bigger baby!

I'm 5 minutes in, and already shocked. I've been picking up secondhand diapers when I see good cheep ones, I had no idea I could get away with having so few!! Im only 21 weeks, just doing my research now, wow.

This helped me so much. I plan on using these and some bamboo diapers as needed. I also got some hemp inserts for nighttime but really your video is so great! Thank you for sharing your information. The covers are better than the pocket diapers in terms of washing because you can change the insert a few times if there isn't a blowout.

I clothed with my first, ten years ago. She was born 16 weeks early and her skin was so sensitive, any disposable I tried on her skin immediately rashed. I loved cloth diapering. It took some getting used to at first but was well worth it and was easy to get into a routine with them. I used all kinds of different brands. I loved them all. They are so soft and cute. My daughter loved them as well. 😊

Woahhhh cloth diapers have come a long way since i used them in early 90s! Back then it was still only prefolds and diaper pins, and a basic plastic diaper cover. Needless to say it was not a very nice thing. The elastic on the cover was raw and irritated the skin, the plastic would get wet and sweaty and wear out, it was all big and bulky and generally gross. We had probably at least 40 prefolds, and at least a couple dozen plastic covers. There were also disposable "liners" you put in them that looked more like dryer sheets than anything else. And diaper pins...now that takes skill! Todays new parents would be horrified at the old cloth diapering.

I highly recommend a few more than this we go through about 8-10 a day with my 5 month old! We have built a stash of about 50! We love anmababy, alvababy, and babygoal! All are identical! Also formula poop is NOT water soluble sadly.

Thank you so much for this fantastic comprehensive tutorial on how-to-start cloth diapering. I really appreciate that the Blueberry covers are adjustable, so you only need one size. I was wondering if you can get away with one size on the prefold diaper inserts (Clothies), or do you need to buy new ones as your child grows? If you need more than one size, my follow-up question is, how few sizes can you get away with?
