Washington Coliseum has wonderful memories for me.❤ Grew up in a house right on K Street N.E near 3rd Street. My departed mother used to walk with my older sister and I to see the Ice Capades.❤1970s. Just mesmerized by the beautiful skating there and love watching it to this day. Mother always got us front--row seats. Fell in love with ice skating because of that. Aunt took me to see Roller Derby there too. Thank you for posting and sharing this with us all. Very informative and I appreciate it.🙂
The Beatles playing there was a major first. Wish I could have been there. I was in Madrid Spain then.. Thankfully the concert was filmed. Very interesting documentary
This is truly a memorable DC landmark. As a teen, I've attended several go-go and entertainment events here. So very cool to know that the Beatles played here as well.
My mother would take us there during the 70s to see the Ringling Bros Barnum & Bailey Circus, then I started going on my own to Go-Go concerts in the mid 80s
The fact that it was the location of the Beatles First full concert in America is enough to maintain this space even if not for entertaining per say, but as a landmark and space that is repurposed and utilized.
My dad told me this is where the Bullets played at when they moved from Baltimore becuz the Capial Centre was not built yet..My 1st live Concert that I attended wuz her RUN-DMC, The Fat Boys, Nucleus & others. Swatch Watch Tour '84

I remember going there to see the Roller Games, Washington Cats

Originally seating about 9000, the arena is one of two buildings remaining in the US that utilize the cast concrete roof construction.
WE LIVED A SHORT DISTANCE AWAY FROM 3 STREET NE

The Beach Boys also performed at the Washington Coliseum on April 24, 1965.
This was home for WWWF television broadcast up until their move to the Philadelphia Arena, and then Allentown and Hamburg, Pennsylvania
Indeed, a historic landmark!
I think the time is right now for it to open again as an Arena. People today want to come to legendary arenas again to see older acts.
1983 The go-go
My brother fought for golden glove boxing in 1974. I would also go with my mom to watch wrestling
Currently an REI Co-Op.
Sad that it was sold off ,same thing happened to the Forum in Los Angeles it's owned by a church last I heard
Nixon put 1000s of protesters there in the 70s. We had a damn good time.
