Tufa Casting

Hopi artist and silversmith Jonah Hill demonstrates the process of tufa casting to create jewelry. Tufa casting involves carving into a soft rock, called tufa, to create a form that is then filled with molten metal. This unique art form that has been practiced in the Southwest by the Navajo, Zuni, and Hopi people since the turn of the last century.
