¡Toda una demostración de virtuosismo para entregarnos este viaje alucinógeno!
Un viaje en plena libertad hacia lenguajes sonoros que de otra manera nos estarían vedados.

Very nice! One question: why does the tuning of the Cloud Chamber Bowls sound so different between the original Partch recordings and performances by Newband and Ensemble Musikfabrik? Shouldn't the pitches be the same if the instruments have been accurately built and tuned according to Partch's instructions?
Also, in all other previous recordings of this piece that I have heard, the repeated motif on the Diamond Marimba that starts at 12:35 has the phrase ascending through all five notes (up-up-up-up) rather than going up-up-down-up, as heard in this performance.

woodygould, it appears that your reply to my comment disappeared. Could you type it again?

The bowls couldn't be accurately cut in the exact same way to get the same tone, you could get close, but Partch didn't have a super fancy precision cutter so you just had to take what you could get with it. They'd break over time because they're made of glass and new ones needed to be made and they'd be a bit different each time

@@macnamaraman The pitches should at least be close to those specified in the score.

@@dbadagna yeah but in the music world "close" isn't good enough. Especially in Partch's system which relied on exact ratios for pitch tunings. When the notes are so close to each other, the note being "close enough" would result in a completely different note within his system

@@macnamaraman Maybe you should read my original comment more carefully, and compare the segment of this video that I had pointed out in my comment to any other previous recording of this composition. Better yet, maybe you should have done that before typing so many irrelevant words.
