The PWT stops here in Utah in 2017 & 2019 had over 3000 spectators on shore, and according to the riders & tour organizers, they hadn't seen crowds like that in MANY years. I think you need to have it in locations where the water will be good so the riders can showcase their full abilities, a city where the local Supra/Moomba dealer has a great reputation, a strong watersports community and there's a lot of local advertising of the event. I remember in 2004, being on the chase boat (Dallas Friday's Malibu VLX) driven by Daniel Watkins at Josh Sanders house on Lake Holden. Doing a photo shoot on Josh's Supra with Adam Dodd, and Deano was riding. We all saw these 2 humps sticking out of the water as Deano was heading into the double up and he saw all of us staring at something in the water. He bails on the DU and as he comes around again for another try, he yells to the chase boat, "Are those Gators????" with a curious smile on his face. After his set, we idle over and it ended up being just 2 mounds of moss on top of 2 tree branches. LOL!
