Do you think it would be enjoyable to only do one of the contractors missions? (I.E do all of Handshakes missions) or would you suggest otherwise? You seem to do multiple contractors missions at once.
I find it is best to have multiple missions open at the same time. Sometimes, you can complete or partially complete multiple missions at the same place, saving you time from going back to base and then back to the location. Just be sure not to accept vendor missions that conflict with other vendor missions. I did that early on in the game and pissed off one vendor. That also hurts your standing with the vendor you pissed off.

From what I can tell, you have to do other trader missions to unlock missions for other traders.
