The feeling of being in control of your body is empowering. I went from 260 to 160 lbs (at 175 now) and my confidence was through the roof walking around with abs. This guy knows he's a physical monster in middleweight, he's developed discipline and he's fought bigger stronger men. He has the heart of a heavyweight, which makes his confidence dangerous for his opponents.

they have around 600 fighters on roster, it's hard (I wouldn't say impossible) and time consuming to produce content about each fighter in depth, although they do try which is important. I've noticed if a fighter has a upcoming fight (like in a week or 2) that's when ufc does the promoting for the fighter(s)

Lots of guys first fights were against future champions and all time greats. Cannonier would be a great first matchup cuz hes really not that talented. Hes just so absolutely massive and strong for middleweight with average professional skills, if you were debuting against him it would most likely be when he was still developing his fighting style, and also either at lightheavyweight or heavyweight which he is not a big threat in those divisions. Instead id feel bad for Priscilla Cachoeira or Patrick Cummins or Darrell Horcher and Yana Kunitskaya or Joe Soto all way harder debuts than fighting Cannonier. Yana had to fight Cris Cyborg, Joe Soto had to fight TJ Dillashaw, Darrell Horcher had to fight Khabib, Patrick Cummims had to fight DC and Priscilla Cachoeira had to fight Valentina id say those are all the toughest debuts. Definitely not Nick Roehrick vs Jarod Cannonier, he got a raw undisciplined cannonier he should be happy.

UFC has heavyweight, 93kg and 84kg, basically two heavyweight divisions and a cruiserweight division if compared to Boxing if you ignore the new weight class in the wbc. Guys like Cannonier have everything to gain, they are basically fitter more conditioned and nutritionally responsible versions of themselves at the higher weights but they keep a good deal of strength and power and fight guys the same size or smaller if they do the cut in the right way.

A 40 pound cut isn't small by any means, but alot of guys in the UFC Cut even more weight. I mean look at the video were watching for example. Though it seems like cannonier was more of a slow paced evolution based off results he had seen in the octagon. Basically meaning he stayed at 205 for awhile while giving his body time to adapt before cutting to 185, as opposed to walking around at 240 and just waking up one day and saying my next fight is going to be at 185.

@@jonsmith6982 I don’t think it would work well with the increased strength for others. At middleweight, his power is clearly different and there’s more strikers and brawlers than in light heavyweight. If he goes back up, most people will just wrestle and grapple with him. You got Glover, Jan, Prochazka (possibly), the Scottish submission guy, Cutelaba, Smith and a bunch of other guys who will just wrestle, even if that’s not what they predominantly do. Like Reyes might try and wrestle or Ankalaev might learn to wrestle to stay away from the power. And some of the top fighters are killers on the feet. Prochazka, Ankalaev and Jan are all devastating and all will be challenging for the title if not holding it. Cannonier won’t have as many clean breaks and walks forward with the power of the light heavyweight division. He knows that from last time, regardless of skill, that people hit really hard and they are very strong.
