For me it actually depends on if it's 2d or 3d sonic game. If it's 2d, the story doesn't really have to be on point, just has to be good enough to serve it's purpose and help engage and move along the gameplay. For 3d, the story is a bit more important, with that extra dimension it somehow becomes somewhat more noticable, however I'm not expecting David Lynch quality or anything lol.
good point you have here but i think with the Bad Story good gameplay there need to be two versions to be distinguished (which perfectly blends to just cause) Does the Developer KNOW that its a shit story and he runs with it or is he tryharding and super serious about his really bad story? Just cause constantly pokes fun at itself for rico regularly having to topple dictators all over the world and usually doing so by becoming a human wrecking ball. A lighthearted bad story (that for some like me also somewhat turns it good again) doesn't take away from the great gameplay.
Thought of a cool idea awhile ago If jak and Daxter were going to get a reboot, in the sequel it should ditch the time travel element to instead a voyage type of story traveling to different islands And Daxter would actually be more involved in the gameplay Basically a reimagine ending to the original precursor legacy would have daxter back to his original form But now in the sequel not only he can turned back to a otzel at will but now depending on which echo, he can transform into different animals with unique abilities
I prefer having worse gameplay with a grest story over the opposite. That's why despite USUM's many gameplay improvements, Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon is my least favorite Pokemon game because it's bad story rewrites. Meanwhile the original Sun & Moon is one of my favorites because of how good characters and themes are, even if it lacks Ultra's gameplay improvements.
Does a bad story change your opinion on a game?
Why tf is this severely underrated.
Just needs to find the right audience I guess 👍
@ZmanShow ay keep up the grind. It takes time for vids to get popular on youtube
