I worked with your Grandfather at the Fellow's Club in Pittsburgh back in the late 60's early 70's!! He was a Great player and a good man! All the best! Rick Evans
I swear his improvisation is in a whole different league compared to everyone else. His ideas are so singable and tasty, somehow manages to leave me speechless
Beautiful solo and great transcription. I love Benny’s soloing it sounds exactly like he’s scatting down the trumpet (excuse the expression) - so full of emotion and exactly how you would sing it yourself.
I remember watching this episode of Emmett Cohen's show thinking "Man, that trumpet solo on was burning!" Thanks for transcribing! Benny Barnack was on fire on this take!
I definitely hear some “Sweets” Edison in this solo. Not any specific riffs necessarily, more so that sense of taking one’s time and using bluesy repetition and vocal effects to really tell a story.
This is a great transcription...thanks for this Ricardo - well done!
Beautiful playing Benny!!!! Really enjoying your livestreams from smalls from Australia. Take care man!
You play precisely in the style of Clifford or Lee Morgan and... It's beautiful.
