Sick. The scribbled word in the Bible is probably “sick”. Thank you Geoff.
Yep. "sick".
Yup. Agree with "sick".
Exactly what I was going to suggest
Definitely sick. It’s a very popular style of begging to their imaginary sky daddies.
Rich lol, definitely sick
Without irony, the only way we can genuinely move forward is to return to 1990 and then have a jolly good think.
The Las, Stone Roses and My Bloody Valentine.
Honestly we just need a do over of the whole 20th century .
If you are going down the wrong road, do you carry on or turn back and find the right road.
@@andljoy Back to before 536 AD would be nice.
I might not make it there, but I’ll give you a good push!
My old man always said, what's the point in a car that you can't get a length of wood in. That's why I've always had pickups and vans.
Steady a length of wood🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣love it.
One car to spit flames and cling to corners, one car for literally everything else. That'd be my ideal setup so.. An MX5 and a Volvo estate.
@BauregardSenior87 yeah a got 5 cars and 2 vans. And a 4x4, Old Suzuki thing. All old. Like me. 👍🏻
What's the point in carrying all that weight, the extra £££, resulting in worse performance in every category except excelling in lethal damage when you've never carried a length of wood in your life 😂 some people want a hot hatch and we don't give a shit about carrying sofas, that is why trucks exist
@@jonnyraff1241There's a small chance you might understand when you grow up and get some responsibilities in your life mate -by the way, my 530d Touring will give pretty much any hot hatch on the road a good run for its money on the straights and murder them through the twisty-bits even with 12 lengths of wood in the back, and if it doesn't then my '96 JDM Impreza WRX absolutely will.
Any day of the week, and twice at weekends...
In the 1970's I worked at a petrol station.
I remember a farmer coming in with a medium sized pig in the back of a Capri.
Nowadays they just put the girlfriend in the front seat 😂😂😂
A 3.0 Capri, I hope.
My neighbors hauled sheep in their tiny car. I've seen llamas in a mini van, they lie down anyway.
@@ghostinthemachine76 70’s, maybe a 3.1 litre!
Good to know what with the UK obesity problem..
Volvo caving, entirely safe: Brilliant! So many lives could be saved!
Maybe do it at night to add to the experience 😂
That word is "sick", not "rich".
And I bought an estate car last year and I love it.
People don't want good quality furniture, they want the latest trend.
Dear Geoff. I'm a farmer and a Tuba player..... I have an 04 Skoda Fabia estate, an 08 Jag X type estate, a 63 plate Dacia Duster 4x4 and an old van..... And they all have a towbar!
Also..... I've never (in 63 years) bought new furniture. They don't make things like they used to!
Agree, it’s become a throwaway world. It’s horrible.
Is Sandy still alive ?
We live in a throw away society... So much for saving the planet.
Volvo estates were always the preferred mode of transport for antique dealers.
I have yet to find anything that will not fit in my XC90
A quick look online suggests that Diane's house is no longer there and has been replaced with a mosque. Ironic.
Indeed ... Things aren't going in the right direction, are they ...
More like tragic , certainly for us.
My mahogany kitchen table has no screws or glue at all... All goes together with pegs. The chairs are stuffed with straw... very old. Possibly 1800's.
Sick!
From T Pratchett - 'Boots' theory of socioeconomic unfairness" through Vimes musing on how expensive it is to be poor:
The reason that the rich were so rich, Vimes reasoned, was because they managed to spend less money. Take boots, for example. ... A really good pair of leather boots cost fifty dollars. But an affordable pair of boots, which were sort of OK for a season or two and then leaked like hell when the cardboard gave out, cost about ten dollars. ... But the thing was that good boots lasted for years and years. A man who could afford fifty dollars had a pair of boots that'd still be keeping his feet dry in ten years' time, while a poor man who could only afford cheap boots would have spent a hundred dollars on boots in the same time and would still have wet feet.
Yup... ^THIS^
Thanks for taking the time to type that out for us all, and you've just given me an overwhelming urge to climb up into my loft and find the box of Terry Pratchett books I haven't thought about since I moved here 18 years ago...
Excellent work Sir ☺️👍
I miss our 1997 Mondeo Estate. You could get your whole life into that.
Although not as good as my 2002 Kia Sedona, my 2010 Kia Sedona (stupid foot applied handbrake instead of a proper pull up handbrake and not quite as roomy) is still better than an estate and after thirteen and a half years (touch wood) remains totally reliable. I dread the time when I have to buy a new car because of ridiculous and downright dangerous touch screens. From the day that I take over the Country and become dictator, no new car with a touch screen will be registered .... manufacturers have been warned. Within weeks, most supermarket and public car park spaces will be remarked to be at least two foot wider and two foot longer for the convenience of those who drive proper cars.
Back in the 1970’s we had a Transit York diesel minibus that we used as the family car. Great fun to drive. My Mum even managed to roll it one day. Two weeks later we drove it to Switzerland, towing a caravan for a family vacation.
As the quote goes:-
“People buy stuff they don’t need, with money they don’t have, to impress people that they don’t like”………
"Help all those who are sick at this time"....Italic writing and English O level Geoff.....Your Welcome....lol....😏😀🇬🇧
" sick!" Sick..lol.
You're dead right about furniture. I had to get rid of my great-grandfather's dining table last year when I moved house, and nobody wanted it. Not even any inquiries. I don't know what's wrong with people. It's survived about 140 years already, and still looks better than the stuff you can buy today. Solid as a rock. Fortunately the new owner of the house had some sense and was happy to take it.
Since I was downsizing I didn't need anything to replace it, but if I ever do it's the antique shops for me. IKEA's absolute junk. The ultimate triumph of marketing over substance.
I've had several Volvo Estates, loved them, now have a Yeti, love it, both roomy, square, seats go down, roof racks go up, they tow well.... guess what, both discontinued. Arse!
I have a penchant for old things including furniture because not only were they constructed in better quality materials ie real wood, but also in the case of wardrobes as an example were thoughtfully designed for easy and reliable diss assembly and reassembly in sections for moving home. Try doing that with chip or mdf board rubbish which invariably pulls at most of the fixing areas then disintegrates. And you can really repair those without it looking like a bodge. Most of my furniture is older than me. Old or period furniture similar to old buildings exude evidence just by looking at the decorative detailing where it is obvious that love of craftsmanship and longevity were inbuilt.
Just a tip geoff. Next time you have the back full, take one of your kids with you. They love crawling around like that.😀
Spelunking in a car, that is a new one Geoff.
You do get yourself into some situations Geoff. Hilarious though! 😆
The word you can't read is 'sick'.
Potholing and Volvo caving, all in one day, plus a bonus 75 year old bible! Loving the adventures; you've made a very grey day very much brighter here 😁
Volvo estate, a wardrobe on wheels.
Be careful when owning a Volvo estate, it is an entry point to covetting ever more practical vehicles, sold my V70 for a T6. who knows where this madness ends.
When we moved we bought a 2 seater for the conservatory. I got it in the XC70 as is in one piece. When we gave it away someone turned up in old A class Mercedes. We had to take it apart, half of it was still hanging out the back of car and they had to get from Bradford to Manchester in absolutely pi$$ing down rain🤦♂️ My first car at 19 was a V70 TDI and ever since then I only ever owned estate cars. They’re just the best.
Style. Design. Function.
Sadly the role of modern mass market car design has lost its way completely in my view.
Why does no one want a car that is practical anymore...? Can't blame the manufacturers as they will make to demand. But can we not remember...when heaven was a stylish, eminently usable shooting brake!
I have an old hot hatch that has carried stuff modern SUV's with twice the footprint can only dream about.
Back seats out & front seat flat in minutes and it's a tad over 7 feet, gloves box to tailgate. Park bench, mattresses, sofas, bookcases..you name it I've moved it!
Car design hit a zenith 20 years ago and has been heading south ever since.
Over engineered. If I ever fantasise of an electrically closing boot, Geoff I'll need you to shoot me.
Keep up the good work. Always enjoy your videos.
Thanks Geoff, you never fail to be amusing.
Volvos,"boxy but nice!" I forget where the saying comes from, some movie i think.
Full sized saloons like the Granada mk2 and estate cars like your volvo, are useful and rare.
Geoff, get ready for that epic challenge. Not fart around in rainy weather.
There’s a Geoff surprise incoming
From BBC site - A fire officer called to a blaze at a car dealership says it might have been started by an electric vehicle. Lee Alford, station manager at Avon and Fire Rescue Service, said crews have "reason to believe" it was started by an EV, but added that investigations were ongoing and no conclusions had been reached yet. A major road was closed in north Bristol when the fire began at the Drive Vauxhall Bristol North premises off Gloucester Road in Patchway at about 10:00 BST.
Appearing on BBC’s Politics South-East on Sunday 5 May, Caulfield said: “Lib Dems and Greens want to introduce a road toll system, 15-minute cities, where you will have to pay a congestion charge if you travel by car more than 15 mins from home.”
When challenged by the host that council leaders have said it was not true, Caulfield replied: “It’s actually printed… on their draft local plan. It’s in their official documents that they supportive of 15-minute cities. I think they’ve probably dropped that plan because it’s so controversial.”
Geoff 😂🧠🙋♂️🤝 me and my dad were antique dealers we loved 740’s in the 80’s keep strong brother I’m a 1969 model 🤪🧠💪🤝
Happened to me when I was emigrating from UK. No one seems to appreciate quality hardwood furniture. I had good quality leather sofas and hardwood dining table and cabinets. I was emigrating and was willing to give away for free, they only needed to pick up. As I had no response I ended up hacking the items into smaller pieces and launching them at the recycling centre. Where I stay now people are normal and appreciate items
HE'S NOT THE MESSIAH
HE'S A VERY NAUGHTY BOY WITH A LOVEJOY VOLVO
(I'd) like to see Diana Abbott do THAT 😮😂🤪👀!!
What transport some furniture 😂😂😂
Are you sure? 🤔
SAWDUST AND SOLVENT PRESSURE FORMED INTO PANELS (TWIST AND BOW)
IS PART OF ALL FITTED FURNTURE
I am with you all the way on estate-cars! Old Volvo's are the Kings! then it is possibly old Granada estates, or Mercedes Benz! With the more modern being the Subaru Outback! I once had a discussion with an undertaker and he swore by the Saab 900 estate as it was the only car he found could carry four full sized coffins!
I miss my 1990 Sierra Estate. Epic car.
The car wireless has a USB input … that’s not period!
What have you got against ‘head linings?’
when I bought my first house, I bought mainly secondhand good quality furniture and yep carried it all in my volvo 940
Geoff you should have kept that sofa, instant campervan!!!
I had two Montego estates between 1989 and 1996, first one 1.6 petrol and second one a brand new 92 diesel turbo 2 litre. From 95 to 2009 I had various vans for my sign making business then in 2009 I bought an Audi 100 estate which I filled completely, including the front passenger seat, to drive across Europe in 2010 to my current home in Romania. The Audi was replaced by a 7 seat Dacia Logan MCV, similar size and shape to a Renault Kangoo. Owning estate cars or vans always made me popular when friends with smaller cars needed something transported! The most popular body style here in Romania are estate cars, known here as "Breaks", not "Brakes" as in the UK. Dacia Dusters are also very popular.
we've just bought a '72 Austin 1300 pick-up that was converted in 2014 and stored. We're now resurrecting it for dump runs and picking up any awkward bits and pieces
Great observation there Geoff - cars used to be so much bigger than they are today.
My last estate car was a Sierra in the early 90’s. It was a beaut, almost as big as your Volvo Geoff. Came in handy for all sorts of furniture removals. Also took out heaps of garden waste to the tip every weekend. Them were the days…
Geoff I picked up 4 Range Rover wheels yesterday From Geat Yammer I tried to hire a mini van but it was over £600 for 3 days for what I can see is a lot of money to hire a car now days.
I end up taking my old Mercedes and it was awesome journey and luckily the 4 wheels fitted in the car just enough and saving over £600 I am over the moon 😊😊
So I say to anyone is cheaper to buy a car rather than renting a car 💯
I drive an 80 series Land Cruiser, I could fit Noah’s Ark in the back 😂😂
Your tortoise is a random act of genius. Its😂 tacky and yet beautiful. Does it work? 😅
I ran a mk1 Toyota Yaris for nearly 19 years until last September - you'd be surprised what you can fit into them - I could fit my 7'6" mini mal surfboard in with the front passenger seat reclined back with the board's nose in the footwell and the tail resting on top of the back seat with headrest removed. I also took home a 1200x650mm commercial kitchen sink that I picked up from Nisbets catering warehouse in Avonmouth - the bloke who brought it out to me was surprised to see me with a Yaris, but it was a doddle, I just flattened the rear seats down and chucked it in.
Those little Cars are deceptively long I've had 2.4M Wood Batons in our Susuki Splash .
I bought an estate car (newish) always had an estate for the exact reason you highlight (I miss my 850tdi se)
I bought my car based on the boot size. I couldn't afford a van so bought the biggest small car with the biggest boot. 🤣
That compass will take you to where ever your heart desires the most, very slowly...it's a tortoise after all.
It is an s not r . Prayers for those who are sick at this moment Geoff. Everyone prays for those who are sick or in hospital at anytime. And all those less fortunate than ourselves. Hope you enjoy your old Bible Geoff. What a lovely thing to find. xx
My husband got pulled over near junction 6 of the M3 tonight in his van, for “not looking old enough to be driving a van”. He is over 50. Can Plod do that? They then searched around for something to do him for, before settling on 3 points and a fine for a “having a bald tyre”. But what can you do? Apparently Plod also is required to record your “ethnicity”.
A bit back I worked out around half my furniture in pre WW2 and suspect a good proportion pre WW1, though suspect when no longer around it will all end up in a skip or the scrap wood bin at the council tip. Glad some younger people have an interest in it.
I'm pretty sure I've got that exact table Geoff, got it second hand too, love it!!
I am with you on estate cars. All round a far more sensible purchase, especially with a decent diesel power plant.
We need a sticker, Geoff Buys Estates. I have a 2008 Fabia Estate, 55-65mpg at 60mph. I can get 4 large suitcases in the boot without dropping the seats. It's only the 1.4tdi but is top of the range with cruise control😲🤣. And it's 35 quid a year to tax and only £6,750 a year to insure which makes it cheaper than a Range Rover🤣
That’s potholing actually. Truly heroic. Of course the Americans have another word for it.
Geoff,
With local councils adhering to “No Mow May” the grass verges etc have been left to go wild. Fair enough, but on the approaches to roundabouts even in a normal hatchback it becomes difficult to see the oncoming traffic as you approach the roundabout. God knows what it’ll be like in my Lotus!😜
come to busby tree surgery for all your car to flat bed conversions. we have done this to the last three motors we have . it makes all moving of stuff so much easier when the head room is unlimited. on the furniture front i totally agree furniture is not something i have every bought . only ever went and got free to uplift proper made from real solid wood.
Geoffs created a new sport. Geoff goes caving
Agree on the estate car thing. I have an Astra J 'Sports Tourer' (estate) a slow old thing with the simple 1.6 engine. But we have saved a fortune picking up stuff that we would have had to have had delivered. Large screen TVs, furniture and last week an oven.
Also the advantage of having a long roof so that with roof bars one can also carry long lengths of wood etc.
SUVS have also replaced MPVs like Zafiras which were pretty cavernous.
I have noticed increasingly that companies like Argos and Currys no longer hold larger things instore and you are forced to have them delivered.
I’ve got an estate car and fitted a side board it and a dining room table in it too.
Even if you can get an estate, the back is rounded off and lower profile not unlike your box volvo!!
I've had a double mattress in the back of my Volvo
I bet you have

Geoff, You need to watch the film "Local Hero"
A) Because it's both amusing & thought provoking.
B) Because there's a scene that discusses the benefits
of different types of luxurious cars. (Typically, those
that might be owned by RICH folk)
C) The indistinct word in the prayer "Sick"
Enjoy your day, regards Tom.
One thing I will say about a good estate car..... back in the mid nineties I had a montego estate....I fitted some caravan curtains inside with some screws and some bailer twine...and stuck a good sized single mattress in it...perfect fit....and perfect mobile hotel room...cheap as chips as they say....
Hi Geoff. I think you should introduce an Estate Car Sticker 😃
Good little vid, appreciate your ethos Geoff looking forward to the road trip.
I moved the majority of my house with a Dacia Duster 10 years ago - fantastic basic fish and chips car - not sure what they are like now but I see many about here in rural Wales with winter tyres and decorated with proper mud.
Couldn’t agree more on the furniture front. I won’t buy new furniture because it’s rubbish!
On the furniture transportation front I have a diesel BMW 325D Coupe with the frameless doors. Not important you may think?
Wrong!
So far I’ve had a 3 seater settee, a full height fridge freezer and a Nissan 300ZX tailgate ratchet strapped to the roof (not at the same time)
Wind the windows down a bit and you can still open the doors. Winner!!
Geoff could that be sick not rich!
Even modern big cars are small inside.
My old pickup is a great work horse. To tip runs at the weekend without hassle. No good though for carrying more than two people.
I have just purchased a small table and chairs for my small property from the Air Ambulance shop in Stratford Upon Avon. They sell a few new items and second hand items and this table was a new one. It was a flat pack table and chairs but unlike the Ikea garbage it was proper solid wood and you had to use wood glue provided to glue the mortice and tenon joints together on some of the components.
Uber Van Man coming soon
That’s a nice Volvo Geoff good colour
We’re 2 estates and a van👊🏼
I moved our entire flat (Bar Small Double Divan Base) in Suzuki Splash. We had purchase a Ikea Sofa as nothing would turn going up to our Flat as it was converted Pub with skinny stairs with awful turn in them.
First car I bought was a 1971 VW station wagon (estate) It was big enough to hold everything that I owned at the time (destitute student).
Most recent buy Fabia station wagon. Very tight squeeze for a tall shelf unit!
I hired a small lorry for the day when I needed to move lots of bigger stuff.
Two loads and I was knackered.
So funny watcbing you open the boot😂😂
I remember watching an episode of Top Gear where James May couldn't get a chesterfield into the then a new Volvo.
A friend of mine once fitted an entire 8'x4' foot sheet of 18 gauge sheet steel into the back of his SAAB 900 turbo, which, ironically still wasn't enough to complete the welding necessary to get it through the MOT.
ISLE OF M AN HAS HAD ASSISTED DYING FOR 100 YEARS

Since I've had my '09 Ford Galaxy, van hire is a thing of the past.
My volvo 850 t5 auto estate, is like the Swiss army knife of the car world!. 😊
I moved our life 200 miles South in a Chrysler Voyager - 9 trips 😂😂 Never been able to drink red bull since.
Btw taxes are going to go up to upgrade the barriers on roads because the standard Armco cannot deal with the EV weight
The word is sick not rich Geoff, enjoyed the video😊😊
the word is sick, and i had a mon-fri estate, it was a brilliant car. I used to tell people I bought the estate because of the dog. They would look in the car and see a tiny Jack Russel 😂😂😂
Definitely says ‘sick’. It’s a very popular style of begging to their imaginary sky daddies.
My Bible was presented to my Nanna in 1895. She died when I was about 5 or 6. She must have known she was going, because she came out of the old house and asked me to fetch my Dad from up the field. He cam running, and the doctor arrived later. Then they took Nanna away in a black van.
Anyway, there’s no mention of the word PERSON in the King James Version. Something worth thinking about, especially considering the high importance placed upon the word, and its meaning, by the entire legal system.
Peace 🏴
Sick?
Rich people can get sick
