In a castle in the woods lived a Queen and King,
They had a baby girl and planned a christening.
They invited all the fairies for the after party,
But as celebrations swung, a voice shrieked, "You forgot me!"
There stood a fairy, angry and rotten,
Her face was twisted, her teeth ill-gotten.
"When your baby's sixteen, she'll prick her thumb,
On a spinning wheel and die," she said, and the spell was spun.
Sleeping, sleeping for one hundred years,
When will a prince finally appear?
Everyone was shocked, the Queen began to cry,
But a kind fairy said, "Don't worry, she will not die.
She'll sleep instead for a hundred years,"
The King said, "Let's burn all spinning wheels to ease our fears."
As she played hide and seek with friends,
Their laughter so loud.
But while seeking, she spied an old woman nearby,
Spinning at a wheel, "Would you like to try?"
Sleeping, sleeping for one hundred years,
When will a prince finally appear?
"Yes, please," said the princess, then she pricked her thumb,
She fell straight asleep, the old woman said, "That was fun."
The princess was found and carried up to bed,
Then the kingdom fell asleep, even cats and dogs, it was said.
One man escaped as he was about to enter,
Saw the kingdom sleeping and went to find a mentor.
Years went by, and a cure was finally found,
With a brave prince ready to turn things around.

When will a prince finally appear?
The prince decided to give her the enchanted flower of life,
To break the curse and end all strife.
He made his way around, everyone was asleep,
He found the princess's room and with the flower, took a leap.
She woke and smiled, saying, "I have dreamt of you,"
And outside, the sound of everyone waking too.
The kingdom rejoiced, thanking the prince so dear,
For bringing back their joy, their laughter, and cheer.
Sleeping, sleeping for one hundred years,
Now awakened by the prince who appeared, cheers!
