    Awesome Video mate, I came over from the Blog for this bikes build, it's an awesome bike!. I've just replaced the fuel tap on mine but now it isn't running so it's time to do the carbs 🙃. Your Blog has given me a lot of inspiration so I'll probably end up restoring it fully, awesome bikes!. Cheers.

      The fuel lines needed checking when the tap was replaced . Then carburettor system flows / lines . My FZR' 250 3LN1 never had this problem as it has an electric motor driven pump like on the MC19 & others . Always put in fresh fuel & fuel filter after this aspect of work is completed .

    Godspeed Works , do you like good functioning examples of Yamaha FZR 250's . Do you like the 1989 3LN1 . Mine is black with custom blue graphics & a love message on its petrol tank! This was my girlfriend's idea . I am going to hang onto her (the 3LN1) as track days have been great even though I have access to other 250 inline fours of the era . She is my favourite overall . This is a personal thing though & she is well cared for .

    Hi, why does your cylinder 1 look a lot more responsive than the other 3? Is it something wrong with the gauges or is the compression higher, jetting or fuel screw position different on the 1st cylinder?
    I've an MC22 myself which had been dismantled for years to be restored, looking to get these gauges as these are much cheaper than a Carbtune/SyncPro but wondering about the accuracy.
    Also, how did you set your pilot jet fuel screw?
    Thanks in advance! Sweet bike, good to see more MC22s in great condition!

    • @Godspeedworks
      @Godspeedworks  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks! pretty cool to see these bikes are still as popular as ever. That gauge has nothing to do with the engine condition it's just the gauge setup, there are little T piece valves in the vacuum hoses that allow you to adjust the gauge feedback. I just had #1 a little too far out compared to the rest. As long as it sits even across the board when idling it's okay but usually I would be a bit more thorough. Hard to say with the pilot screw, it takes a few different tries to see what works best. I worked off the factory setting (2 turns out?) and settled on 2-1/8 turns in the end

    Hi, I’ve got a 1987 MC17. How are the gauges plugged into each carburettor or are they plugged into existing hoses existing hoses?

    • @Godspeedworks
      @Godspeedworks  3 роки тому +1

      Hey mate, they aren't connected to the carbs at all. The gauges are connected to small nipples on the intake inlets. Just below the carb boots where they connect to the engine you should find a threaded hole on each inlet that you can screw a nipple in (if there is one not already there), hope this helps.

    • @jaronstephens9894
      @jaronstephens9894 3 роки тому

      @@Godspeedworks thank you for taking the time to explain that, definitely helps. Will have a look at buying some gauges so I can get better performance and fuel economy, as it smells like maybe some carburettors are running a bit rich and maybe others too lean as it can be difficult to start when cold.

    • @robertmcfadyen9156
      @robertmcfadyen9156 Рік тому +1

      @@jaronstephens9894 Most MC22'S , particularly the downrated (R) series delivered in 1994 from production lines that I see in Australia are often out of synchronisation slightly or running too rich . People that do this think that they can regain power levels closer to that of earlier models in this series . Hence sooty exhaust internals are often seen . Sometimes a bit of smoke . This doesn't do much but increase carbon emissions & reduce efficiency .

    Do you only balance them at idle? What happens at WOT?

    • @Godspeedworks
      @Godspeedworks  4 роки тому +2

      Yes only at idle. All you are doing is aligning the position of each butterfly valve in the throttle body so that they allow the same amount of air into the engine at the given throttle position. Balancing them at WOT or even partial throttle would be pointless IMO

    • @robertmcfadyen9156

      @@Godspeedworks The vanes are aligned at idle because it allows greater accuracy to be achieved in balancing them . They move sympathetically once aligned with respect to the one that is a "REFERENCE" .
