The FM2 might be my favorite camera of all time. I use it almost every day! Paired with the pancake Voigtlander 40mm f/2 is an amazing combo that's small and sexy. Plus the flares from that lens are otherworldly.
Great a usual. Thanks Luke for sharing this. It's like watching the new episode of favorite show :))). Actually, i own the 50 1.2 of the same lineup and it's a very creative feeling. Merci Luke!
Hey hey Congrats on your new place and on your new beautiful camera. I‘m stoked to see your pictures with this camera system. I wonder, the step to 35mm from medium format seams to me quite unconventional, because medium format always has this “holy-grail-feeling” to me. Like it’s prestige. I would love to hear your thoughts about this. Have a great day and happy moving.
Thanks so much!! Totally, and I'm already aware of it. And I know that in theory - BUT I don't know if I'm fully convinced of the trade offs of shooting in medium format. I'm planning to do a video about it though at the end of the wedding season after I've shot a lot on 35mm - then I'll be able to tell you more of my thoughts.
Great choice. Even though Contax seems to be the number one choice for film photographers, I think both Canon and Nikon make great 35mm cameras that work well for weddings than your typical point and shoot. I personally have a Canon Elan 7 and paired with canon lenses, it looks amazing. They’re light, and less cumbersome, then some of these medium format cameras.
Gonna copy/paste my Instagram message request here as it makes more sense to have asked here anyway, haha… “Hey dude! I follow your channel on UA-cam - really enjoyed the video on being a family historian, definitely inspired me! Question - I’m hoping to start shooting photos for families and couples, and looking to upgrade my Minolta SRT-101 to something better. The viewfinder is small and dark, and as a fellow glasses-wearing shooter, I imagine I’ve missed focus on a decent number of shots because of this. Can I ask how you settled on the Nikon FM2 vs, say, the F3, and how the viewfinder looks with glasses in comparison to other cameras you have shot (since you already mentioned it being bright and clear I think also). Take care!”
Hey! Great question. Well I settled on the FM2 because of the look of it, and because it is super simple and manual. I wanted a very basic and simple camera that was harty. I didn't even want a light meter, since I have a hand held meter. And from what I read it was kind of a brick of a camera that works well, even if it runs out of battery. Honestly I haven't really tried that many film cameras, so I can't say I'm an expert in knowing how much brighter is it, but it seems good for me wearing glasses, and seemed quite bright. Hope that helps!
Type K3 is the one I use which is from the FM3A. It has the same split screen just more clarity and brightness. Truly a huge difference from the standard K2 on the FM2n
"I destroyed my lens" *oh that's sad* "by dropping it on the ground" *wait what now I don't feel so b-* "unintentionally" *oh yeah that stinks i'm sorry*
Hahah. It was unintentional. I was actually shaky after it happen I was so shocked. Something like that has never happend to me before. BUUUT That is always cured with more gear! :)

Love my Panda (silver & black) FM2n. Been shooting with it for over a year (since Jan '23). 1 word to describe it: "Reliable."
Thank you for always inspiring. stay healthy
Thanks so much! Thanks for watching!
Congrats on your new place!
Thank you!!

Very cool!
Thanks for watching!
Would you show us your workflow with film photography? I've never dared to try it before but you've made me a little curious ;)
You should make a video on how you should 35mm film
Dam those images brought back memories.
my favorite camera #nikongang
I wonder what that lens is like adapted to the z6ii
I was thinking the same thing!
I WAS THINKING THE SAME THING THIS MORNING. I have a adaptor, so I made do a full video on it.
Hey hey

I'd love to know more about how your Contax began to hinder your workflow.
The shutter sound is so satisfying, but I think my original FM is just marginally more satisfying. 🤷♂️ FM2 is still a delight though.

Totally what I was thinking.
Welcome to VNGAS-Vintage Nikon Gear Acquisition Syndrome. Your life will never be the same! 😎
hahaha that is amazing.
Curious if you think you’ll miss after for weddings?
You mean miss the contax 645? Oh I'll still have it in my bag :)
@@lukewtcleland sorry auto correct changed af to after.

swap the FM2 focusing screen and put an FM3A focusing screen. thank me later
It already arrived! :) I got the split screen - type K. Which type do you suggest?

Watching your excitement through the rest of the video, I'm suspicious as to the true "unintentional" nature of the drop...
