Halloween is just not my holiday but give me fall with the muted spicy colors, yes please. I think any color that appears in nature is beautiful and in within its season. And if you love it do it. The photos shown were lovely and sophisticated for sure but didn't read fall to me. From Jan-Aug I roll with a calm color vibe but come Sept bring on the colors of the seasons. You can have a little fun too without being themey if that's what you're trying to avoid. Maybe since I live in New England I'm inspired by the amazing color changes that take place here. Again to each his/her own and I sit here and laugh at myself at having such a strong reaction to the headline, "Avoid These Fall Decor Colors". I think I'll go make a spiced coffee now.

Now Im not one to use orange for decorating at anytime of the year but this boring neutral style is just lifeless. I love white walls with COLOR scattered throughout the home. I must have color and the greens, slight amount of yellow, the plums, rust and burgundy and brown is Cozy ❤😊

This is the problem with social media. This is how people start feeling inadequate. EVERY home looks EXACTLY the same these days and this is why! Fall, in it’s entirety is FULLY based on the COLORS!!! Literally, the colors changing, and mainly orange! Stop making people have a complex by constantly telling them what’s wrong with their home and decor! Your channel is full of “what not to do!” SMDH!
Laura thanks for the comment. I don’t like orange in my home and I don’t use it. My style of decor is to keep the home more constant year around and give more subtle nods to the seasons. This is how I decorate and style my home and wardrobe and it’s what I share on my channel as well.

It is sad when the neutral style craze stops people having fun and playing with colour, and natural objects eg pumpkins, apples, acorns, pine cones, berries etc especially in Autumn and Winter. Scandinavian style uses colour and such natural elements to decorate for the seasons. As a celt, Halloween is one of my favourite holidays, but I only decorate for Halloween a few days before and take that decor down on the 1st Nov. My teenage kids still love it. I can't imagine not "having fun with decor" just for a few days a year! 300+days its mainstream neutral cookie-cutter mundane like your home.
Agreed! Since when is cheapo "modern lux" Amazon vases, faux greenery and such better than natural pumpkins and the like for a brief holiday! I think not. IDK, this pushing toward trends seems like just more consumerism designed to get us spending money on promotional items from "influencer's" storefronts and is all becoming a little too blatant for my liking.
I also disagree. Orange is an essential part of fall…Mother Nature includes it in her fall palette so decorating for fall without it seems wrong. The shade of orange is what is important. Also, fall decorating without a few nice looking pumpkins around is also wrong. Your basic palette of black and white and brown does not bring the feel of fall into a room…it’s kinda boring without full fall colors. I agree to leave out too much whimsy or signs with sayings on them, but fall colors are what dictates fall decorating. Leaving the colors of fall out of fall decorating is like leaving the colors of Christmas out of holiday decorating….why even decorate for the season if we leave the colors out?
There is a difference between gaudy and a warm layered look..I love to use muted rustic coral red with natural toffee tones mixed in…warm woods…bits of dark warm teal. So bring on the pumpkins on the front door step in sage, creamy white and soft rust… sooo yummy. Pumpkins still have their place, and delightful if thoughtfully arranged, without too much fuss..still works for me..one or two orange pumpkins for the grandkids…charcoal and white contemporary is not my vibe, but how to style things…makes a difference, within the context of one’s home decor. I must have twenty of the Hot Squash or the Plush Pumpkins, made with velvet and real pumpkin stems. My dining room table will look like a colorful pumpkin patch grew on it. It’s my favorite thing. I have grandchildren near by and I like my home to have some whimsy and fun.
One of the things that I enjoy about decorating is the process of making something your own. I don’t tend to look at what is “in” or “out.” I use what I like. For me, fall is about jewel tones, but I completely understand that isn’t for everyone. Thanks for sharing what you like.
Hate to disagree but your fall doesn't look like fall. It looks dreary. I think we all love the pumpkins, the leaves changing color, branches with changing leaves faux and real, and yes, they're orange and rust and dark red. It's very American. Those moody neutrals just don't say anything.
I’ve seen carved pumpkins, painted black, silver or gold. You can paint them any color if you don’t want them orange. It’s really cool when they are lit up! And they are really nice during the day! If you coat the inside of the pumpkin with petroleum jelly, they will last longer, too.
I have a neutral home but Autumn is orange and red where I live and my home will always reflect this. In the UK we have 4 distinct seasons and we celebrate them all.

*Early Fall Color Palette* . I had my home styled for Summer with Navy, Faded denim, Khaki and Ivory. Stripes and Sea Grass baskets were my pattern and textural elements. Here in Upstate NY, the leaves are starting to change and my pink hydrangea and pink knock out roses are going strong. My early Fall seasonal swap was effortless. My color palette is Navy, olive and nutmeg. I swapped out pillow covers and throws, created a few new arrangements, and swapped the seagrass for vintage wooden crates and trays. The vibe is moodier. Once October hits, the Navy will be replaced with Chocolate brown velvet and and a brown tartan plaid. As I've matured, I've discovered that "kitsch" isn't for me. I have finally achieved a decorating "formula" that suits my decor style and makes my home feel cohesive without breaking the bank. Color palette, texture and pattern are my go-to's for styling.
I have a spa sliding door in my kitchen. I think I’m going to paint it deep taupe because I have a marble countertop with grays, taupes, and whites. That door is gray right now, but why not paint it? Thanks for the inspiration Valentina!

I’m not the orange or burgundy, skeletons type gal girl and very neutral but this should’ve been named colors you can use for your home. The title of this video is kind of click bait type. Hi Valentina, really enjoying this video and your color scheme. Was reading viewers comments on reds, oranges, yellows, and I say to each his own.. I, too, did those colors for many years and still have the stems of maple leaves. But, I have leaned into the more modern, up to date, muted colors of fall that you have shown. I find them more relaxing and tranquil, thus using and enjoying them for longer periods of time. I do need to purchase the magnolia leaves, the ones on your coffee table, and that gorgeous grey vessel! Question for you, how do you store your stems so they stay clean and don’t get flattened by laying them in a storage bin?
If you can store them upright, covered with a large trash bag or plastic painting sheet, that helps with maintaining their shape. Otherwise, your just going to have to try and not compact them so much in storage, giving them some space (maybe use some sort of spacer to make space for them, like tissue paper or plastic bags), and lightly shake them out and reshape and arrange them, as you would when they first arrive.
I bought a gorgeous piece of orange glass in Murano on my honeymoon. I love orange. I have pops of orange anytime I feel like. I hate beige. It’s a color designed by a committee. I’m selling a house in the spring. It will be very neutral for buyers to imagine their things on the shelves. For my homes, I’m surrounding myself with things I love.
I love this color pallette. A very long time ago, I bought a sofa/recliner with 2 recliners and none look like recliners. Gold/tan are the colors. I fell in love with a gold/burgundy or cranberry/ tan pallette. I still have the furniture pieces and they look good and are comfortable. But the cranberry/burgundy had to go when my silk curtains started shedding and ripping. Yup. Tried to find a color pallette where I don't feel like swapping out all my gold/tan furniture and mahogany and cherry tables and barrister bookcases. Que the black and a bit of white & gold curtains with accents that brought it all back together. I appreciate the fact that I love my living room again. Your videos always give me the ideas of change, yet in simple ways that don't empty my wallet. Thank you.
I totally disagree with it. The choice colors are so depressing. Autumn is a celebration of optimism. Adding hues of orange is sometimes adds vibrancy at home and it’s perfect on autumn duhhh
These are very drab, fall is orange, gold, bronze, yellow, browns, tans. When we are decorating for this season we are bringing the outdoors in. These colors are not fall, im sorry but they are not.
I do decorate for Halloween because it is my absolute favorite holiday but it is a separate thing from the overall fall palette that I use this time of year. Halloween is a much shorter time frame so I won’t add those things until a week or two before Halloween and I mix it in with my fall decor. I do use more conventional skulls or pumpkins some years and not in other years. Whatever I use I try to use it in a more upscale way. I don’t have it all over every surface of my home. It’s more like little touches. You can use color in so many ways & there is a whole psychological aspect to color. I love velvet, moody browns, deep oranges and umbers for fall.
Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love Valentina’s style. I love her beautiful home. I think it’s very upscale and stylish but I just chose to do my own thing in a slightly different way. That is the beauty of decorating for yourself. I can decide what I want to use and go from there. I absolutely love minimalism. I’m just not a minimalist at heart. I try and it never fully ends up being very minimal. 😂 So instead I strive for an organic modern/eclectic approach that leans modern but can handle a bit more stuff. I like my “pretty things” & I want to see them. Maybe not all at the same time but I change it up fairly often so that works for me.
My kitchen cabinets are painted in Swiss Coffee, would it look strange if the walls were painted a lighter white or stick with Swiss Coffee? I love the BM Bitter Chocolate as an accent wall. Any suggestions?
Black/ White/Tan... the "Forever V Palette"...with minor variations! I absolutely applaud sticking with that which works best for both personal coloring in fashion as well as home decor preferences...but this palette is NOT flattering to my personal coloring. I have nevertheless enjoyed sprinkling these tones as ACCENTS, in varying proportions, sometimes by season, thru-out my home!

Everyone of course has their own opinions. My opinion is designers think about NOT using the word OUT in the titles of videos, stories etc. Maybe say my new favorite for this season is or something like that. People do get offended. I am a designer and will most definitely use ORANGE to decorate some others won’t it’s just a matter of opinion!!!

Getting ready to paint a bedroom that we turned into our tv room with a big screen tv, loveseat and recliner. I plan to paint walls a dark brown. What do you all think I should paint the existing golden oaky baseboards and closet doors? Also planning to add crown moulding and paint that the same color as closet door and baseboards. Carpet is light tan, 2" blinds on window are off white. Help! Thank you for advice!

@Macraetoday I think you can use deep yellow like mustard, deep burnt orange and deep red like burgundy to add more colors.

When it comes to every day decor I’m very neutral and my house is moody but when it comes fall and Christmas I like to add color, it feels nostalgic 🙃

Fall is my favorite season. Halloween is my least favorite holiday. I do not think Orange would look good in my house. It's kind of 70s ish

It’s really cool when they are lit up! And they are really nice during the day! If you coat the inside of the pumpkin with petroleum jelly, they will last longer, too.

*Early Fall Color Palette* . I had my home styled for Summer with Navy, Faded denim, Khaki and Ivory. Stripes and Sea Grass baskets were my pattern and textural elements. Here in Upstate NY, the leaves are starting to change and my pink hydrangea and pink knock out roses are going strong. My early Fall seasonal swap was effortless. My color palette is Navy, olive and nutmeg. I swapped out pillow covers and throws, created a few new arrangements, and swapped the seagrass for vintage wooden crates and trays. The vibe is moodier. Once October hits, the Navy will be replaced with Chocolate brown velvet and and a brown tartan plaid. As I've matured, I've discovered that "kitsch" isn't for me. I have finally achieved a decorating "formula" that suits my decor style and makes my home feel cohesive without breaking the bank. Color palette, texture and pattern are my go-to's for styling.

I have a spa sliding door in my kitchen. I think I’m going to paint it deep taupe because I have a marble countertop with grays, taupes, and whites. That door is gray right now, but why not paint it? Thanks for the inspiration Valentina!

Hi Valentina, really enjoying this video and your color scheme. Was reading viewers comments on reds, oranges, yellows, and I say to each his own.. I, too, did those colors for many years and still have the stems of maple leaves. But, I have leaned into the more modern, up to date, muted colors of fall that you have shown. I find them more relaxing and tranquil, thus using and enjoying them for longer periods of time. I do need to purchase the magnolia leaves, the ones on your coffee table, and that gorgeous grey vessel! Question for you, how do you store your stems so they stay clean and don’t get flattened by laying them in a storage bin?
If you can store them upright, covered with a large trash bag or plastic painting sheet, that helps with maintaining their shape. Otherwise, your just going to have to try and not compact them so much in storage, giving them some space (maybe use some sort of spacer to make space for them, like tissue paper or plastic bags), and lightly shake them out and reshape and arrange them, as you would when they first arrive.

I love this color pallette. A very long time ago, I bought a sofa/recliner with 2 recliners and none look like recliners. Gold/tan are the colors. I fell in love with a gold/burgundy or cranberry/ tan pallette. I still have the furniture pieces and they look good and are comfortable. But the cranberry/burgundy had to go when my silk curtains started shedding and ripping. Yup. Tried to find a color pallette where I don't feel like swapping out all my gold/tan furniture and mahogany and cherry tables and barrister bookcases. Que the black and a bit of white & gold curtains with accents that brought it all back together. I appreciate the fact that I love my living room again.

I totally disagree with it. The choice colors are so depressing. Autumn is a celebration of optimism. Adding hues of orange is sometimes adds vibrancy at home and it’s perfect on autumn duhhh
These are very drab, fall is orange, gold, bronze, yellow, browns, tans. When we are decorating for this season we are bringing the outdoors in. These colors are not fall, im sorry but they are not.

I do decorate for Halloween because it is my absolute favorite holiday but it is a separate thing from the overall fall palette that I use this time of year. Halloween is a much shorter time frame so I won’t add those things until a week or two before Halloween and I mix it in with my fall decor. I do use more conventional skulls or pumpkins some years and not in other years. Whatever I use I try to use it in a more upscale way. I don’t have it all over every surface of my home. It’s more like little touches. You can use color in so many ways & there is a whole psychological aspect to color. I love velvet, moody browns, deep oranges and umbers for fall.

Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love Valentina’s style. I love her beautiful home. I think it’s very upscale and stylish but I just chose to do my own thing in a slightly different way. That is the beauty of decorating for yourself. I can decide what I want to use and go from there. I absolutely love minimalism. I’m just not a minimalist at heart. I try and it never fully ends up being very minimal. 😂 So instead I strive for an organic modern/eclectic approach that leans modern but can handle a bit more stuff. I like my “pretty things” & I want to see them. Maybe not all at the same time but I change it up fairly often so that works for me.

Black/ White/Tan... the "Forever V Palette"...with minor variations! I absolutely applaud sticking with that which works best for both personal coloring in fashion as well as home decor preferences...but this palette is NOT flattering to my personal coloring. I have nevertheless enjoyed sprinkling these tones as ACCENTS, in varying proportions, sometimes by season, thru-out my home!

Getting ready to paint a bedroom that we turned into our tv room with a big screen tv, loveseat and recliner. I plan to paint walls a dark brown. What do you all think I should paint the existing golden oaky baseboards and closet doors? Also planning to add crown moulding and paint that the same color as closet door and baseboards. Carpet is light tan, 2" blinds on window are off white. Help! Thank you for advice!
