The RF is not legitimizing Haz and Mat by issuing a birthday wish. The birthday wish is just formality at this point. If they’re legitimizing Haz and Mat’s roles in the family they would have to acknowledge the fake Royal tours and or fund them. The RF, however, has made clear that none of what Haz and Mat does is supported by the monarchy therefore zero legitimacy is afforded. There is no stopping the people to connect Haz and Mat to the King but if the King and his people didn’t back them then in the end they are but two losers. 😅

I think the video released by Catherine worked on a number of levels:
1. Catherine taking control of her narrative and announcing that her treatment is complete, but her recovery is on-going.
2. A beautiful portrayal of a genuinely happy family and loving couple (possibly in contrast to another?)
3. A thank you gift to those who have wished Catherine well this year.
4. A message of support to those undergoing a similar journey to Catherine.
All in all, I thought it was touching, personal and beautifully filmed, but of course, some level of criticism is inevitable

It is not “Kate.” Not an unusual mistake of misspelling and making a correction is out of respect for her.
Taking two cues from QEII: never complain, never explain AND I must be seen to be believed. In the video, Princess Catherine does not complain, nor does she extensively explain. She gives thanks and praise. She generalizes to build relationships with fellow cancer sufferers. She waxes poetic. She philosophizes. The video could be construed as a Fireside Chat, building strength and hope about an issue that is, frankly, scary AND universal. She appeals to no experts; Prince William’s voice does not intrude. It’s all Catherine. She uses her voice, she’s seen. For me - an American who professes loyalty to no pope, no monarch, but only the Constitution and the Bill of Rights - Catherine’s video is a pitch perfect update of the tradition of Royal address to the people. I should also reveal that I love Catherine and William and their beautiful children. God bless them all.

As an American I can say that the Hollywood Reporter is important to those in Hollywood. The top execs, directors, producers, actors, etc read the Hollywood Reporter and take what they say in account. So, if HR says you're difficult to work with, they'll remember that when you it comes time to cast.
If Megsie wasn't difficult to work with, then she would have been cast in something a long time ago. Plenty of controversial figures still work in Hollywood, but she doesn't and that means she's not talented enough to deal with her being difficult to work with and she's not well liked enough to bring in a mainstream audience (there wouldn't be enough money from either her fans or hate watchers). She's never been Hollywood's actress of choice and she's deluded if she thinks she is.
Yes, I worked in the entertainment business for 20 years - the most important publications that arrived in the mail were The Hollywood Reporter and Variety.
Meghan had a very inflated sense of what her return to the States with royal in tow would mean for her acting career. She actually expected to be showered with A Lister parts, and even mentioned at one point, she would like to play an action hero role. Even ignoring what covid did to the industry, she was soon given the word: you've got to be kidding sweetheart

First of all, they don't live of tax payers' money. Actually, they pay taxes. A well documented clarification would be appreciated. Those people who demanded to be informed and who speculated about the Princess's private health details, now complain that she gave a positive update, which cancels all of their conspiracy theories. I guess they wanted to speculate more and earn money of her speculated 'misery". It's obvious, the Waleses are a harmonious, loving family and I am grateful to have a glimpse of their family time in nature. The message is clear and very sweet. Wishing them all the best, for the future.

Hello, to you both. So good to watch you. When Princess of Wales gave the world a gift of inviting us into her private life. She didn't have to, she chose to. It gave us Hope, peace and Love. Many are going through Cancer treatment. Weather ourselves, family or friends. We carry that burden with them. People watched the video the Wales shared with us OVER AND OVER, we just cannot get enough. Not in a bad way, but we cry because she has OVERCOME Cancer. She wanted to shout it from the mountain top. She did it her way. We applaud her. We stand by her. May God continue to do Miracles in her life. God Bless you 🙏
As someone that is experiencing my own battle with cancer. I appreciate the openness. We all struggle regardless of our financial situation or station in life. Nice to see a public figure not get political or preachy. But telling her truth; with her battle with this disease. Thoughts and prayers from across the pond!
Cropping out Meghan seems more than fair. The video had advert vibes but it was lovely and the family were lovely.
There is no way to be 100% sure that there was a subtle message to Harry when they cropped her out of the photo, however it’s definitely plausible. I’d like to believe that this was deliberate. Cheers from 🇨🇦

As an American who doesn’t understand royal life, I enjoyed the video. I do see it as a well done puff piece of propaganda, but I don’t see it as bad. The only goal I see is an attempt to humanize their family. It really is lovely. I’m sure children their will cherish it forever.

Pluto ❤ to answer your question about Harry vs Meghan and the missing piece as to why he is still so subservient to her bidding, the obvious one, and the one we ALL know about, is that Harry’s children are not legally entitled to be acknowledged as a prince or princess and nor should they be in the line of succession. Harry would have to acknowledge that he lied about their births to his father and the rest of his family and to the people of Britain. He has foisted a crime against the state. I think they do have children, how they came by them is a question that if answered, Harry knows would see him prevented from ever holding any public position in the royal family, which I think he secretly wants. He is barely tolerated by most of the public now, imagine his diminished ego and status if Meghan ever made their children’s provenance public. She would undoubtedly heap all the blame and the decision making onto his shoulders along with the RF, poor Megs, she had no choice but to go along with it, those wicked, nasty royals. And that’s just the obvious thing she would do to him that restrains him from parting ways without her permission. Who knows what else she has up her sleeve.
I don’t know how she had the nerve to say that she “tiptoed into a room” and didn’t speak her mind when there are SOOO many videos of her basically shoving Harry out of the way, barging into rooms before him, grabbing microphones and giving the death stare at anyone who dared to speak and take her spotlight. She truly seems to think that either we’re all too stupid to put it together or we have the memories of goldfish and won’t remember. Going off the amount of “word salad” speeches our ears have been subjected to that woman has never had a single issue on voicing her opinion (unfortunately for us!!)
Zack, I so agree with you that Catherine made that for the benefit of others. I thought it was lovely, a small peek into their actual lives. My respect and affection for the Royal family has not diminished in the least and I've found the nay-sayers totally off the mark, especially Richard Eden saying she is turning into this one's wife - HE lost my respect for that. The poor woman seems to be damned if she does or doesn't in some people's view.
That Hollywood Reporter article could have been pulled directly from my brain. Everything said in that article is something we all suspected or felt we knew. Neil Sean reports that she tried calling the Reporter and threatening a law suit, but when told they have solid information to back it up, she tried to sof-soap them by offering a one-on-one interview to "clear the air". When she was told No Thanks, the phone went dead. I laughed out loud!
The smaller me hopes that picture of Harry was a deliberate clap back at the wife for all of her nasty vindictiveness. She deserves it and I hope they knew the plates would be flying in southern CA! HAHAhaaaaa!
Fact is, you can’t please everyone. Back in the day, Prince Phillip strongly believed that the Queen’s coronation be televised. And from what I understand, he ran into a great deal of opposition in that regard. But look what a positive move that ended up being, for the Monarchy. I believe the same will happen with Princess Catherine’s bold move; that the public will react positively to being allowed a peak into their Royal lives.

I got married at 19 to the man of my dreams. Young and dumb I missed the red flags of narcissistic behavior and addiction. I was his “perfect woman”, until I said I do. Then, seemingly over night I was the girl from the wrong side of the tracks he had saved. Two years later I attempted to unalive myself. I survived and got the help I needed to get free of his mental and emotional abuse.
At 20, people I worked with thought I was 35. The at 22 they flat out asked if I had had “work done”. I would laughter and say yes, I’d lost 180 pounds of shit! Now, at 55 those same people ask if I’ve had work done. No, this is what 31 years of happy, supportive, loving marriage does to a woman.💖💖💖💖

We can lose track of what is good in the world, what is beautiful, what is important. This film that The Prince and Princess of Wales have put out shows us that we do live in a beautiful country, we can overcome adversity and the most important thing in our lives are family and hope.

There is in fact footage of Queen Elizabeth II doing "normal" things, driving, family dinners, etc. New tech at the time, for sure. Not sure why people are complaining about Catherine's video, especially considering the pig tripe Harry and his tryhard grifter wife pour onto everyone's feed, or 95% of celebs for that matter. It makes sense the British Royal family should communicate to the people through such means. Better than reading it on paper! She looked stunning and it was lovely to see them together. People are entitled to their opinion on the video, but most of the complaints sound like psuedo intellectual critique from folk thinking too hard on it. Like with, chill. I think the Birthday wishes are a smart move. I think the Palace have upped their game. Look at recent stuff. Kates video, Williams beard, the birthday wishes were formal, not familial. I think this standoff is coming to a head and the RF is positioning themselves (very astutely IMO) accordingly
I saw part of the film content as a rebuttal of Harry's assertion in Spare that he was the only royal who married for love; an assertion particularly aimed at William and Catherine.
Personally, I liked the video and the rebuttal, but I don't think they need to be so revealing in future videos.
King Charles and Queen Camilla married for love against all odds. Stood steadfast in the face of criticism and got on with their lives and duties. I really admire them for this because it was never going to be easy with the public. Theirs is the real love story !!!
When you have a toxic family member you always hope they will see sense and straighten out their lives. That said H has chosen to feed his jealousy, resentment and hatred he is now both toxic and dangerous. I have experience of this. The RF hold hope H will go back to just being a spoilt brat but I believe they see he is beyond that. Would they help him if he gets shed of MM yes. Trust him please God NO. Harry stopped smiling, shows evidence of anxiety far more than we ever saw before Morticia arrived.
Once he'd started therapy, he became the most popular royal, no Palace team can make someone look that good, he was loved by most.
Unfortunately, he's got away with so much purely because people see that little 13 year old boy, waking behind the coffin, people thinking he'd been forced (he wasn't, he was unsure, William wanted to and they knew Harry would look back on that with regret and envy, so Prince Philip said if he wanted to walk, he'd walk with him, Harry had the ultimate choice). Everyone remembered that boy and cut him slack for everything, for a long time. Harry needs to realise he can't trade on that empathy anymore, no matter how often he mentions his mother. In fact, since he met Meghan, he has tarnished Diana's memory. I was never a fan of hers, but I didn't say anything because everyone adored her and it's not my business to try and dissuade them, I saw why they felt that way. Harry needs to stop the mother stuff now. He and his brother swore they wouldn't talk about her unless it was relevant. Now people seem to forget that William was also young, at fifteen he was mature, he was also his mother's friend, confidente and she would infantilise Harry, palm him off on the nanny and hang out with William. He didn't get on with Charles like Harry did. He lost the one parent he could talk to. It wasn't his father's fault and he wasn't blind to Diana's faults.
Harry wouldn't have done the things he'd done without Meghan twisting his noodles, to be fair, he didn't have the full portion of noodles in the first place. However, he chose to du the things he's done, awful things that can't be undone or unsaid. He made that choice and there is zero excuse for that.
The birthday wish is what all non working royals are wished on a milestone birthday with a 0. Meghan is cut out because they no longer consider her part of the family in any way, she doesn't exist.
The message to Harry was so impersonal, he would've got the message that they were doing this so he couldn't play the victim. The fact the Wales' retweeted it, doubled down on that because we all know that as far as William is concerned, Harry is dead. I get that, otherwise he'd go crazy with pain and grief.
Harry knows he can't come back, hence the provocative headlines, he's refusing to be cast out, but there's nothing he can do about it, there's no contact and he's lucky he got a birthday wish at all.
If they split and he's wants back in the family, he's going to have to be penitent, at least apologise to his father and Camilla, then spend 12-18 months in a private twelve step residential rehab, and go from there. As for being a working royal?.... they won't even let him refill a stapler!
A video or podcast with Zak responding to The Rules would be brilliant, he has a really good way of looking at things and he's a male who can express his thoughts and emotions, so I'd love to get his take on them. I remember when friends of mine were doing the rules. They all attracted either men who were less respectful of their wives than they should have been, or lovestruck folks like Harry.

I loved the video. Facing death changes people's perception of life. They appreciate every day they have been given. This goes for the whole family. There is real love there, and they showed it in the video. We should celebrate Catherine's release from cancer. I really think the prayers of the world were answered.

I thought it was a beautiful video. Catherine Princess of Wales is asking us to celebrate the end of her treatment - I am celebrating and thanking God she is recovering.
I honestly believed she had to do this to set the record as she was going to be condemned no matter what we see a beautiful family loving and loved. It gives hope to the future of the monarchy. I want them to not only survive but shake this world up!!!

I loved Catherine's message of hope and seeing their family and the real love they share.
As someone who lost 2 adult siblings (30's), I viewed the video as a celebration of life & what is important to them. When my siblings knew they were going to lose their battle, as a family we offered them any experience that they wanted regardless of cost. They wanted an awesome summer with family & close friends, swimming, bbq cookouts, games & laughter filled days & nights. Everything we did was a true reflection of our family's way of life & what has always been important to us! That is the joy & celebration I took from the video. Thought it was beautiful ❤❤❤

I thought the Queen allowed greetings for non-working royals that hit a milestone, like a 40th birthday. Putting the greeting out removes the comments about not even acknowledging his birthday. I don't think this was an olive branch nor a welcoming back of them with open arms. The RF plays the long game, I don't think they should be underestimated.

I deal with a narcissist in my workplace that acts so much like Megan, and the fact that I don't fight back or argue with her annoys her to no end! The RF wishing them a happy birthday is a demonstration of how insignificant H&M are to them.

The Royal Family DO NOT live off the tax payer. They hand all their earnings, for which they pay full taxes, over to the Government who pay them back a small percentage as wages. People need to educate themselves on this subject.
I agree! All news media pushes the narrative that the RF spend taxpayers money. Most people 6:00 are not aware of the Crown Estate and how it works. Also, just how much the CE contributes to the Government and our economy. I felt it was a cheek that the Queen was forced to pay for the refurbishment of Windsor Castle after the fire in 1992 when the castle is part of the CE, not privately owned by the Monarchy.
My first thought. The RF makes their own money. What they are paid is a pittance compared to their own income.

I’m a California native and believe the Hollywood Reporter is well respected as an entertainment industry insider publication. It’s been around since Hollywood itself. I’m happy it finally exposed the truth about Meghan. We are all not like her from So Cal.
I was on the editorial staff of THR for 5 years in the late 1980s. It is an industry “trade” publication, versus a tabloid gossip rag. Daily Variety, which was long called the “Bible of Show Business,” was our rival. I am proud that THR has survived, and thrived, to become the New Testament, since DV has faded a bit. Which is sad. Point being, is that THR would never publish such a story if it were not properly vetted. And furthermore, the source or sources must be influential and beyond reproach individual(s), who were ill used by Meghan. I won’t include Harry in this, because he’s been cited as an amiable chap. Too bad that he consistently fails to disabuse his wife of the notion that she’s entitled to abuse her staff. Sorry situation.

I don’t agree that he’s an amiable chap, he did the Oprah interview when Prince Philip was near death in hospital, he did the Netflix show and he wrote Spare! My family are the other side of cancer.
I lost my 6yo granddaughter to brain cancer last year. We're obviously still heavily immersed in the pain of that, and I don't care if you're the future Queen or one of us, (as in a member of my family) We're all of us, entitled to 'do cancer' what ever way helps us along the path of this truly traumatic journey!
I thought the short film they did was beautiful. I saw my family's journey inside that clip in a lot of the scenes. It wasn't like an advertisement to me!

Personally, I think it's outrageous that people feel they have the right to dictate how Catherine should talk about her cancer journey. This is a medical issue, it's supposed to be private, yet she chose to let those of us who care about her wellbeing know she's on the mend. I don't like the way people feel entitled to disrespect the RF and have zero empathy for them just because they're born into privilege. They feel fear and pain just like the rest of us.
And you will find because Catherine sensed that Markle was eyeing off William that Catherine would have been off to her and they probably did conspire to be rid of her. But who can blame Catherine. And I noticed Catherine was slimming too much and she improved her dress and I think stress could have activated her cancer. As William might have been smitten with Rose. Nothing is black or white.

To me, since she couldn't be there in person, this was Princess Catherine's way of 'visiting' and encouraging people with cancer in the hospitals, drawing attention to cancer charities, etc. Besides that, it is one of the most beautiful and heartfelt videos I've ever seen. All that polo 'teaser' did was lower H&M and Netflix, as well as make sure very few people would watch it.

I think Catherine’s video was in support of others with cancer, but to humanize her. Remind people that she’s a wife and mother with a beautiful life that helped her recovery! You guys are awesome!
The biggest most hurtful rumour that came from California this year, was the rumour about William having an affair. MM tried her best to hurt them and break up their marriage and family. They also hinted that Catherine was dying. So of course they put this video out. The dinosaurs that live in Victorian times should stay in the aged care homes. I thought this was beautiful and the kids were so happy. Can you imagine the other family. And Prince William looked like the weight of the world had been lifted from his shoulders.
I don't agree with your care home comment, as people may have genuine concerns that once the mystique is broken, you can never get it back. However, I think the royal family are judging this brilliantly and a rare informal glimpse - particularly in the circumstances and when celebrating life - is a nice foil to the usual formal events. I trust W&C to balance this and to eventually bring in a new era of monarchy.
There have been lots of other attacks on the family including the Wales children in the daily mail online still ongoing, the King and Catherine have been accused of faking cancer, William if being violent to Catherine, racist and a bully, absolutely disgraceful comments I have screenshot some of them calling out the mail. The Sussex squad bullying the children is the lowest of the low behaviour, I did try complaining to IPSO but they weren't interested saying that the mail had very little control over what was posted.The mail's house rules are ignored if you report the comment it is marked as reported then appears back in the column.

It is really very good that her abusing and bullying staff is coming out in the US as well as the UK….it proves that her UK victims are NOT “racist” trying a smear campaign against her! However, she’s not going to stop just because she’s being outed as an abuser……it’s a part of who she is, it’s in her DNA, she’s been doing it all her life and not even criminal charges would stop her from abusing and bullying all of her victims…..

I do understand that the cinematic quality of the Wales' video may seem professional/promotional vs home-made, but the contents of the vignettes are intimate, loving and hopeful. I'm thankful that Princess Princess Catherine has the voice her situation for those that is going through this same situation. My mom has cancer, she had it before, it went into remission but it is back. My cousin, my niece all died this year from cancer. They didn't have a voice to express what they have been through. Thanks Princess Catherine. ❤

I tune out from negative people, and I have no time for naysayers. Personally the family did the right thing, it stops M and H playing victims and it shuts the door on the gobby sugars,also those birthday wishes could have been for anyone from anyone, there was no emotional connection.
The RF is unique in the world. A most difficult position, but has been successful in balancing private and public persona. Catherine has become a master (as did the late Queen Elizabeth in her over 70years) in soft power.
This vignette of Catherine enjoying her family is masterful in its authenticity, conveys hope for everyone, not just those who suffer from disease, but in her simple heartfelt love for all British citizens.

Regarding the birthday wishes for H: Zac is completely right about RF advisors. The monarchy in the UK has been around for over 1000 years, and I’ve always trusted they employ loyal advisors who think about “The Long Game”.
The message they are trying to convey is: Happy Birthday Harry. This is a pic of when you seemed very happy. Did you marry the person you were with when this pic was taken? Or has this person changed. Because subsequent pics tell us otherwise.

Charles was left in cash £983million didn't pay inheritance tax ' God forbid your mum or grandma leaves you £16.1pence the inheritance tax will deduct 43% of that £16000.1pence. There are over 5000 foodbanks in the UK ' Charles bought 40 Beko Fridge freezers the lowest price is £80/120 so lets go by the dearest £120 ×40 =£4800. No time for the lot of them to go .

No tax dollars (actually British pounds) are spent on the RF or given to them free gratis. The Crown donates 80% of its income, after paying tax on it first, to the British Treasury. The treasury gives back a small percentage of that to the privy purse for annual Crown expenditures. The Royal Family is a large contributor to the British national income. The US economy is not to be confused with the UK. But don’t feel bad if you didn’t know that, it seems most of Britain is ignorant about it as well 😊

Having a sibling battling a 2nd cancer diagnosis, the video put out by the Wales family struck me as intended... To reassure those that care about Princess Catherine, and to provide hope and the desire to continue fighting to those with cancer! Brilliantly done!
Imagine, for a moment, if Catherine had simply put a statement... People would be criticizing - and more importantly - questioning it! Was it really Catherine's statement? Is it true? Where's Kate? Etc. However with this video, they answered such objections and questions before they were asked.
Perhaps the choice of picture of PH (without nearby M) is simply delightfully, dry English humour. 🙃
