    #nvidia is presenting over 20 AI papers at SIGGRAPH 2023 and some of the results are absolutely mind-blowing. The breakthrough research at Nvidia ( #nvda stock ) is speeding up every area of computation, from gaming and animation to modeling and simulation. The reason why Nvidia could have a real monopoly on the chips that power generative AI technologies like #chatgpt by #openai is because they deeply understand how to build software and applications for developers on top of it.
    That's why their stack can be found in every major cloud service provider like Microsoft's Azure, Google Cloud, and even Amazon's Web Services. Even though Nvidia stock ( NVDA stock ) is richly valued, their deep research like this is why it could still be one of the best stocks to buy now.

      Why is it that big? I don't get it, even if they train the AI on 100% synthetic data from another AI it does not changes a thing if that second AI was learning on NOT synthetic data. All of that just sounds like a giant loop hole. How could they train AI to "draw" human faces without ever thouching image made by a human or made by an AI that already learned that from human works. If they created a program that can just create random face images then it's fair game, the problem is that they still refer to it as to AI. If it's still AI it still had to get the data from somewhere and if it got the data from another AI, then somewhere down the line the first AI that gave the data was learning from some person's work.

    Nvidia is same as the Apple. "Their" papers are just refined papers from other people who don't get any credit at the end. Also, Nvidia train AI or ML and optimized on their hardware so they can get biggest piece of the pie. When they are so noble why are they publish everything and go open source? Why are they selling GPUs for 30% more money, when you gain only 15% performance? Newer versions of DLLS and other technologies could work on older cards but they limited them intentionally. They want to be greedy as Apple and thats what is repelling me from them. AMD is a bit slower but at least they are on the ground, opposed to leather jacket toy.

    rendering 7h for one frame is by far a huge stretch. Even on a crappy PC you can render something easy as iron man composited into a real world footage in 2k in under 4h. And these studios use render farms, that are hundreds of computers rendering each frame. They are just trying to make themselves look like they work alot :D
    Even in a fully CGI scene with tons of reflections and 4k res, it probably takes them couple of minutes per frame.
    If render times would indeed be so long, than they wouldn't be able to do any revisions and corrections for a movie, because it would be too cost ineffective.
    On the other hand, making/calculating simulation for movies (explosions, demolition,...) - can take weeks depending on the desired accuracy and resolution, because it usually requires sub-frame steps to calculate.
    everything together (simulations, rendering, compositing,..) might take long, but just rendering? not so much

    Makes me think Nvidia could do a land grab for the internet here. They just need to build more chips for themselves than the market and expose them as services while everyone else begs for silicon.

    • @shynrou2

    Hollywood will never be the same.The Hollywood avatar of Cary Grant or Maryland Monroe will never die, and best of all will star in brand new productions. Productions that will be controlled by AI, Directed by AI, and written by AI. The best part is that the consumer will have the choice of what kind of "Alien" movie to see The consumer will be able to Direct and Edit the movie to his choice. Tournaments will be set up to see who wins an Oscar for best Director, and Editor. What a wonderful World!!!

    About the comments around the 8 minute mark. So Nvidia will use synthetic data to train their models, thus not stealing from any artist. How is this not just repackaging the stolen goods? This synthetic data was also trained somewhere else before, and this was not legal or ethical to begin with. Supposedly this will further scramble and regenerate the initial trawled art and it sounds like a way for them to cover their asses because it would be so hard to prove these were made by someone, given the transformations the source pictures went through. So not really addressing the problem, just repackaging it. Really excited about the other advancements that can be used to really help artists, line neutral near realtime rendering and other rendering speedups, as well as the real time hair grooming with physics, that's awesome! Thanks for this video, very informative and well made!

    Cool - I buy it. But NVDA is MASSIVELY valued already. Can you really see it going up even further from this point? Has the AI hype machine not boosted it as far as is likely for the present? If the market corrects (as it did Friday, but will likely do much harder before late July) won't NVDA correct with it?

      Historically the company has output a ton of new research papers in the field. So in that sense this is not new at all, more like standard procedure. It is interesting who can make the most speed up in tensor computation algorithms, so applications are one thing. Whether someone buys new hardware that’s the question that has the most meaningful effect on the company valuation.

    • @TickerSymbolYOU
      @TickerSymbolYOU  Рік тому +2

      yes, 400 years of rendering time. So, if they rendered the whole movie on 1 machine, 1 frame at a time, it would take 400 years. They obviously split it up across multiple computers in parallel but it's still a massive amount of resources.
