I actually feel bad for him. He killed is daughter even though he didn't want to. I think he thought that if he didn't appease Artemis, his men would die. But by killing his daughter, he made an enemy of his wife which led to his death. He was prideful and he definitely made mistakes because of it but I'm not entirely certain he deserved what happened to him. For a while before the heralding of war, he seemed to have a charmed, happy life.
