I recently took a short break from Japanese to re-read Harry Potter for the first time in like 10 years and I was actually surprised how many times a word came up that I wouldn't know. Or I'd know but not the meaning it was being used in. Was quite humbling going back to my Japanese novel cause it gives you perspective that even in your native language you won't know every word. I'd rather work on being able to use a normal sized vocab as naturally and articulately as possible than chase words only used in novels that most natives who don't read novels everyday wouldn't even know. There's just too much to work on.

On choosing actors, there are multiple factors to consider like how famous the actor is (bringing in more money to box office) whether they're already filming for other movies at the time, and of course how good they are in all other aspects of acting.
Also, I do remember reading/hearing about actors that do a certain accent or so many accents for so long that they end up somewhat forgetting their natural way of talking or their original accent.

Makes sense. Sometimes its trippy seeing famous actors like Christian Bale give interviews because I'm so used to them speaking in an American accent lol

Comedians use the word bomb when you tell jokes that don't land.
"I did a set in Austin and I completely bombed, dude."
I guess it's probably different because it's just a word used by working comedians.

Touji (Kansai dialect guy) from evangelion sounds pretty funny in the original TV series.
Him saying ワシらは何も言われへん sounds like NAnimoIwareHEN
It reminds me of when people type like that mocking Spongebob meme: “i WaS jUsT sAyiNg”
Here’s some nice dialogue from Touji: 「

These two are like kids meeting their childhood idol. What’s a big deal I don’t get it. Matt is just a normal guy that studied Japanese for 10 years intensively. If anyone does the same they would get to the same level, depends on individual of course. And Matt knows that and wanna share with others the same. Somehow people see him as a God or something. Noone ever asked Matt what he does beside Japanese or what kind of other skills does he posses. We all have the same time of the day, it just depends how we spend that time. We can spend it immersing all the time or doing other things aswell. It’s a choice, except many cannot choose cuz they have jobs, families, other things to do like sports, art, etc.

Hey Gogo! We've actually known Matt for a while and this is our 3rd or 4th time having him on the podcast. We actually even have a 5th interview recorded prior to the recent controversy. In our first interview with him we actually talked to him all about his life outside of UA-cam and Japanese.
Completely agree with the point about how it's unhealthy to view people as a God and that anyone can get good at the language if they spend the time. That's one of the things we hope to share with the podcast, especially by interviewing high level speakers and sharing their own language learning journeys.

@@KoreKaraPodcast thank you for the reply. No offense intended from my side. I am just annoyed by people in our community trying to portray Matt or any other person as “special” while they are just normal people working hard to get to the level they are currently on. About the last controversy, i have to say i kinda felt something was going on after all his preaching about pitch in many of his interviews, and when i saw the very first video of him and Ken, knowing the past behind the second gentleman, i got disappointed in Matt. We, in japanese learning community, need more people like you two! You came out as honest and nice people and you have all of my respect! Again, i am sorry if I’ve been a bit harsh with my comment, no bad intentions, whatsoever. 🙏🏻
