Remember Sundar Popo (1943-2000) started Chutney in 1970 during Black Power in Trinidad with Nani & Nani. Harry Mahabir started the band BWIA National Indian Orchestra in 1972. Originally, he was a member of Naya Zamana with Narsaloo Ramaya (the violin player) from Port of Spain- Issac Yankaran's band (Songs to Remember by the Late Yankarran 1966).To me, this is Chutney music- hear that taal- rhythm (dhantal, dholak & bina organ)
