Hey, this is awesome!! A lot more people are finding this than I expected and I’m glad people are enjoying it! I’m the filmmaker who documented it and put the whole film together. Was my first go at a motorcycle film and it was so much fun! - I’ve never rode before, but the whole experience honestly made me want to get a bike and do the race next year. It’s just super cool to see how people are connecting with the film, so thanks for watching and commenting! I am loving reading all your comments! 🤣 I am realizing how special the motorcycle community is! 😁🏍
I think it's fair to say you caught a bit of what made the movie "On Any Sunday" so great, just a bunch of riders of all types out there having fun and making memories. Enjoyed every minute. Cheers from Australia.
If a XR400 doesn't re-start after 2 kicks, just switch the ignition OFF (or kill switch off) pull in the decompressor and kick 4 times with the throttle held wide OPEN (but not pumping it) Then switch ignition back on and DONT touch the throttle and it will start first kick. 30 years experience of XT500 and XR400 talking here. Amazing how few people know this age old ritual for staring a flooded thumper.
Ever since I was a kid always dropping my oversized bikes the golden rule when flooded was to shut the gas off, hold it wide open, kick it a hand full of times and magically it would clear up, studder a few kicks and then fire right up like a charm. I don't know the science buy it worked on every 2 stroke and 4 stroke i had.
The reaction of the dude on the Harley when he rolled up to the start and realized the situation he was in was hilarious! My favorite parts: "A street Sportster -- this was such a bad idea." And: "A stock Sportster. I may have bitten off more than I can chew this time." 🤣
The fact that the KLR was totaled and the Harley was the only bike to make it all the way back… What are we in opposite land??!? Love to see guys embracing the spirit of life and motorcycles. Keep riding guys!
As a hardcore dual sport rider, this was absolute gold. Much respect to the riders who went outside their comfort zone either by bike choice or the fact it was their first race. Embracing the suck of inclement weather builds character that's for sure. Great job to the riders and all those in camera work and editing.
This was a random find on YT for me, and I could not be happier with the discovery! Excellent audio/video quality and quite the story. The dude on a stock sporty seriously made me question my motorcycle manhood....props to you!
Long time motorcycle lover, and rider. My grandfather got me into two wheels when I was a wee little guy back in the late 70's. I remember him putting me on the gas tank of his Yamaha and Honda and taking me down the street for rides. I remember being so afraid those first few rides. Got my first bike in the early 90's, a Yamaha FZR600. Then I got into road racing for a few years and have had a few bikes. Now, at 50, I'm contemplating a race like this at some point. I THOROUGHLY enjoyed this, Simon! Thank you for taking us along, and sharing the story! Cheers from Alabama!
This is exactly what having fun while making some questionable decisions is! Well done, guys, it will be an awesome set of memories! It is Absolutely inspiring me to do something stupid and possibly hurt myself, while smiling!!
This was awesome, man. Respect to everyone that toughed it out. Being in a storm, winds, etc. is tough enough but then racing afterwards on such a long trip is awesome. Sportster rider really toughed it out and made it back too! Sick stuff.
All time classic!! A fantastic ride and race that says everything about life and adventure and fun and chaos and friendship. I have a street, dual sport, and dirt bike and this is video reminds me of the plain and simple joy of riding. Thank you!
As a DR650 owner and a Sportster owner, good for you man. I’d never LOL. Glad to have watched this. Sometimes it’s all about the adventure and experience, even if it was only great after the fact.
Excellent doc! You did a great job capturing the personality of the event - the sit-down interviews after the event were a great idea and well done. Thanks to the youtube algorithm for suggesting, never would have found you otherwise. The cast was very entertaining, genuine and relatable. Storytelling choices were right on target. Watching this may help non-riders understand why those of us who ride, ride. It isn't easy to explain to the non-riding population what we find so attractive about this activity - but here it is - the buddies, the challenge, the thrill. Best part may well be basking in the afterglow around a campfire, exhausted, perhaps a little beat up, but satisfied with the effort of putting yourself out there to see what you can do.
This is a ripper adventure, reminded me a bit of the classic “ On any Sunday” film. What a bunch of great people as we say in Australia “ having a crack at something” well done, Matt from Melbourne Australia
Amazing job, loved it! Did a ride from Toronto to Las Vegas and back in April of ‘24 now wishing I filmed it. In the midst of planning a film for a ride this year. Great inspiration. Congrats on a beautiful film 👏
I loved this video, thank you for putting it together. I am from San Diego area as well, east county specifically, man I really miss all of my friends now.
i´m not sure how this got into washed into my YT feed but boy am i glad it did. What an epic adventure. This is was riding is all about. Making friends along the way. Enduring horrible conditions.. together. That was 45minutes of my life i absolutely don´t regret "wasting" on YT. Pretty sure the UA-camr who was mentioned trying to kill a KLR was RyanF9 from Fortnine. Greetings from Germany!
Awesome job documenting a ‘goal race’. So fun with all the individual stories. Don’t know any of ya’s, but can tell I’d fit right in with this group. Ride on fellas 🤘
you have to make the best out of a bad situation. most people would have gave up as soon as it started raining, but instead they pushed through and managed to have a time that will be remembered for years to come. sucks it didnt come out the way they wanted, but it was pretty entertaining to watch at least. also, bro on the harley is a beast for riding all the way back home. i kind of wish the other guys would have rode back too so we would have had a bit more to see.
Love that ! I guess Biltwell 100 is perfect race for a first offroad racing experience. I think that, with a bit more bike prep, you would have all gone home riding. Thumbs up, that was a good one. No lost, no wounded. Only great moments. Cheers !
I have a 19888 xr600r I bought and have been working on for 3 years and am almost ready to have it on the road, I'm 60 years old and am inspired by this and these fellas!❤😊
Man, this was fun to watch and reminisce. I can’t believe in a sea of all those motorcycle enthusiasts someone couldn’t solder a throttle cable together. 🤷♂️ A throttle cable has got to be the most common interchangeable part other than a clutch lever. Unless it’s a vintage two stroke that has a split cable it’s a very simple fix. If you guys have any other recommendations like “on any Sunday“ please list them off!! I’m on a mission to watch every single motorcycle documentary or short film I can find. I can’t concentrate on anything productive yet. If anything has to do with motorcycles I’m 100% focused.
These boys are from San Diego?? Dude! These are the kinda dudes I would love to do a ride with. If you're doing anything else in the future count me in!
The sportster guy was definitely the star of the documentary. And for him to be the only guy to ride his bike back home made it even better.
Guy on the Harley is the real deal. No plan, no prep, good times, finished the whole thing

Amazing content brother! 😁

Nice job dude. Just finished watching with my son randomly. What a fun trip and film!
What an awesome job!
So well made, this is what UA-cam is for
Congrats dude 🙌🏼

Just pay the money for a pumper carb.
@@dmt6602 Exactly what i do the rare times my XR400 floods.
I was just about to write the same thing lol. Works every single time though. You can kick hard all you like, but it wont fire unless you do this.
Haha, I'll forward this info to G who rode the XR400 :)
Everything about this is great. The Sportster storyline had me laughing and I really enjoyed him trash talking at the end.
Haha, yeah alex was awesome! his trash talking at the end always makes me laugh when I re-watch it 😆
Stumbled across this and boy am I glad I did. That was so much fun to watch. Thank you!
So glad you found it!! I had no idea UA-cam would start recommending this to people! Glad you enjoyed!
The reaction of the dude on the Harley when he rolled up to the start and realized the situation he was in was hilarious!
My favorite parts: "A street Sportster -- this was such a bad idea." And: "A stock Sportster. I may have bitten off more than I can chew this time." 🤣
Who would of thought it’d be the Harley rider making the trip back plus giving up his van to bring someone else home. Legend
The fact that the KLR was totaled and the Harley was the only bike to make it all the way back… What are we in opposite land??!?
Love to see guys embracing the spirit of life and motorcycles. Keep riding guys!
Desert race on a Sportster?! You are definitely the new "Then came Bronson" icon!😀
That Sportster dude has heart. Great video 👍🏻

This is a great film. Beautifully shot and put together. A rare thing.
"To do something that's not suppose to be done" Ordinary people doing extraordinary things...awesome film..loved it. I want an XR..
Friends don’t let friends run a stock sportster in an off-road race 😂
That was a real fun race. And I’m real glad to backstory on the Harley guy, I’ve told dozens of people about that guy.
This was a random find on YT for me, and I could not be happier with the discovery! Excellent audio/video quality and quite the story. The dude on a stock sporty seriously made me question my motorcycle manhood....props to you!
Same same, great random find
Thank you! It's so cool UA-cam is recommending this video so people like you can enjoy it!!
Absolutely amazing production, from the storytelling, to the visuals, audio and beyond. Keep up the good work!

This was a ton of fun to watch. The Biltwell 100 is a bucket list race for me so it was great seeing different perspectives of it.
All time classic!! A fantastic ride and race that says everything about life and adventure and fun and chaos and friendship. I have a street, dual sport, and dirt bike and this is video reminds me of the plain and simple joy of riding. Thank you!
This was so well edited, it was like watching a short version of Dust to Glory
This was filmed beautifully absolute 10/10
randomly this video came out to my page, i click it, i finished it, and no regret bout it, great job man, cheers from Indonesia.
Such a great moto documentary! Watched the entire video👊you guys did a great job showcasing the true essence of life on two wheels!
As a DR650 owner and a Sportster owner, good for you man. I’d never LOL. Glad to have watched this. Sometimes it’s all about the adventure and experience, even if it was only great after the fact.
I wish there was more motorcycle videos of this quality. Some of the best motorcycle content I've seen on youtube! 👍
Thanks for documenting and posting your ride. Lots of fun in the dirt.
I was watching this while working out in my home gym. My wife came in and asked what I was laughing at. The whole sportster thing had me rolling.
Haha love this comment, it still cracks me up to when I re-watch it!
What a great idea and a great bunch of friends! Really fun video! Thanks so much for posting this!
Glad you enjoyed the film! It really was a solid group of people and we were all friends by the end!!
It must have been one hell of an adventure. Awesome!
One word - EPIC!!
Man, how great is that?!!!

Great film . I had to watch it on the big screen . Nicely done . Kudos to all .

I've been thinking of picking up a dualsport in 2024 and this video sealed the deal. I have to now. what an adventure!
Well, you made this comment on the very last day of 2024, lol. Still thinking about it for 2025 errrrr?😂

Hey that was fun to watch, thanks for your work !!😊
Super cool film of your adventure.
Amazing film, amazing journey. Extremely jealous, watching from snowy Cincinnati while my dr650 is under cover outside hibernating.
Love that ! I guess Biltwell 100 is perfect race for a first offroad racing experience. I think that, with a bit more bike prep, you would have all gone home riding. Thumbs up, that was a good one. No lost, no wounded. Only great moments. Cheers !
Your right!! Great memories! Next time we'll know more what we're in for! 🤣
Shoutout to you Alex, hell yeah
Sooo Dope!
This is amazing and the dude on the harley is a legend and so is that motorcycle. Incredible that it survived all of that.
Lol yup alex was a complete legend and such a great character for the film 😆
Sick content and epic weekend. Loved it man.
Awesome video 🎉
I was in that race, I remember passing the Harley on a downhill! Thinking "Man, he's nuts!"
Excellent, really shows the pain of riding in bad weather 🤣
I have a 19888 xr600r I bought and have been working on for 3 years and am almost ready to have it on the road, I'm 60 years old and am inspired by this and these fellas!❤😊
Amazing to hear that the film and the people in it was an inspiration to you! Best of luck getting your bike out there for a ride!
That dude with that bell helmet gave the best advice to the dude on the sportster.!!!
So enjoyed this. Such a great story. Told very well.
Thanks! Was so fun to document and edit into a film!
Glad i clicked this video. 10/10
Great video
Live life large. Great adventure ehhhh . Cheers from Canada :-)
@12:59 That's what happens when you say that your bike is a piece of crap, it might listen give you hell later on 😂

Dust to glory is a Baja 1000 movie that has some good motorcycle parts. Into the dust by Larry Janesky on UA-cam is really cool as well
Well done boys! This must have been so much fun
Awesome. Loved it!
Fantastic! Awesome video.
These boys are from San Diego?? Dude! These are the kinda dudes I would love to do a ride with. If you're doing anything else in the future count me in!
Yes! We're hoping to do the Biltwell 100 again this year
@@simonmichaelfilms hell yeah, I'd love to be a part of it if the crew would have me
