I'm just sad that a whole 2 hour video explaining literally everything about the types of chords and what they do only gets 250 likes. Completely and seriously underrated. Thanks for this video.
You're welcome, I appreciate the kind words!
@@WriteASongseriously underrated and under valued. I can’t believe the breadth of knowledge that you have on your channel. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
@@jpaw1325 You're welcome!
i watched this video to identify a dominant chord and had to stick it through because this information is so valuable.
Thanks for watching!

I am absolutely shocked that this channel is still so small. Keep going because this channel is an absolute goldmine!

This deserves way more than 3.5K views! Thanks for making this guide!
You're welcome!
I learned more with your video's so far than i did in music school years ago. Please keep going!
That's great to hear, thanks for watching!
This video is full of amazing and crucial information for songwriters. I’ve been consuming the information just a few segments per day, for the past couple of days, so that I can practice with the things that I learn and commit the theory to my understanding of music as thoroughly as possible. My goal right now is to become fluent enough in this stuff to be able to write songs more quickly than I have in the past. I don’t think this video is intended to be watched all in one go. I recommend taking your time with this one. The knowledge is very valuable!
A good one to bookmark. Merci beaucoup.
appreciate your video!
You're welcome!

35:20 ( I just have to try this out on my piano.
Why isn’t all education just like this??? Absolutely perfect
Thanks!
I - I+ - vi can be so cool 😎
Yes it can!
Pretty sure I just learned more in the first 30 minutes of this than I did in an entire high school music theory class lmao.
I'm glad to hear that!
would you make a personal tier list of all these kinda chords?
This video is a top 20 chord list ua-cam.com/video/ltcfMX42jq8/v-deo.html but the order wasn't my personal preference. I'll make a note of the tier list idea!
@@WriteASong ah interesting
And what about the half diminished chord (minor 7th♭5 chord)?
Not mentioned here but I do plan to cover it in the future.
Man, I REALLY appreciate and love your videos, one small remark, though: since I am very concentrated on the sounds you produce (that is the scope of those videos, right?) when you say sikth instead of sixth, I feel like a sharp piece of ice just pierced my ear, each time. Since I am not a native english speaker, I might be wrong, but to me, it sounds like you're swallowing the "s" before the "th" to emphasize the "h" which sounds extremely annoying to my ears. That's why I wanted to humbly ask viewers of the channel (including yourself) to clarify. As far as I can remember, everyone always said: s-i-k-s-t(h), not s-i-k-th, usually pronouncing the "th" more like a standard "t." Or am I missing something? :)
Keep up the good work, you've made a ton of difference to my songwriting!
Thanks for the comment!
Sorry about the sixth pain. This is just the way I say the word. I'm not sure if it's a regional thing in the UK or just me being lazy with my pronunciation.
@@WriteASong I’ve started saying “Sikth” as an act of cultural rebellion

Damn, thats a long video
Yeah, also available as shorter videos if that's easier! ua-cam.com/play/PLxJaS3gjOSqoHVsHwQiJEy3TNL65OZidg.html
