Ironically as an asian, I am terrible at eating with just a fork - I am actually incapable of eating efficiently with a fork. If I am to have a fork, I must also have a spoon and/or knife. Or chopsticks. But never just a fork lol

Because to me that seems like bad manners and usually it falls off the fork. Or if there are little tiny pieces of food that need to be scooped up (but it’s a flat plate), and can’t be stabbed? You can’t stab them because they’re too small, and you can’t scoop them up because they’re too small and it’s not a bowl or it keeps slipping. Our difference in cuisine is probably the factor. The food I normally eat can’t simply be stabbed with a fork, since they literally are too small, too slippery, too malleable, they fall apart, too big, or too tough. Why go through all that trouble when I could just add either a knife or spoon or chopsticks for more efficient eating (plus generally better etiquette)?

You can’t eat with a just fork sometimes - you have to have another type of cutlery as well, whether that be a knife or a spoon, which I said in my original comment. And don’t worry, I know how to use a fork lol. But the point was it’s not very efficient all by itself, for me. Sometimes when I eat dinner at other households, the only utensil they provide are forks, no knives, no spoons. I do indeed ask for other cutlery because once again, it’s hard to eat certain kinds of food (especially my usual cuisine, which almost always involves rice and/or something that falls apart when you stab it or is too small) with just a fork. That’s it. Although, sometimes social anxiety has gotten the better of me and I end up struggling to scoop the food with a fork instead of asking for a spoon. I know forks can be used for other foods like pasta, for example, or cut up pieces of meat, or pancakes! But, I don’t usually eat these kinds of food. And thus, for me, when using just a fork for MY type of food, it is inefficient. All in all there my reply and original comment are ultimately pointless.
