Hi Karen, I bought the 180 Kalour color pencils and few months later I bought the Shuttle Arts ones. While I was sorting those pencils I realized they were identical. The names were the same and my swatches too. The pencils weren't the exact color but when I compared them with my swatches I realized they were identical. Same names same colors!! Even when I tried them they colored the same way. So be aware of that ... I have identical 180 colored pencils but two different names. So pretty much money waste.
Hi Karen ! First I want to thank you for sharing your beautiful work (or pleasure) with us . I have learned many things and I am never disapointed . Could you tell me if you have printed yourself the lines in your colors charts book . I thank you in advance . Best regards from south of France
Thank you so much for showing us this comparison! I already had the Sargent Art Supremes and just got the Castle Arts! So now that I know there are similar colors I guess one set will be a backup!
Hi Karen, thank you for sharing your beautiful work. I don’t miss one video. Could you please tell us where you bought the book you use to do the swatches? Thank you in advance
I'm really liking all the pages and reviews I've seen on the Castle Arts lately. I would like to get a set of these soon. But now I've fallen so in love with those polys I'm focusing on getting a full set of them.
I would have not ever noticed this.... I have the Castle Art set but might just get the other set and combine the two so that I will have all the shades... TFS Karen!
first of all, I want to say that the more I watch your videos, the more I'm in love with your artwork !!! your coloring are fabulous !!!! thank you so much for this comparison !!! I bought the Castle Art Supplies few weeks ago and I was wondering if I should buy the Sargent pencils. After watching your video, they look very similar and I think I prefer invest in Derwent inktense pencils ..... not the same price but they look fabulous !! I'm in love too with your book and I will try to make one, would you be so kind to give me the sizes of your pages thank you and excuse my english not so good as I would like friendly béatrice
The pages are made for a 11 x 8.5 sheet of paper that gets folded in half, the 8.5 is trimmed to 8.25, each section is held in with elastic bands in the book. link above
I didn’t want to mention this part, about both brands having very similar colors lol, just the hardness, or softness between them. I should have known you would figure it out, being as smart as you are, lol?
I have the Castle Art soft series pencils and love them! I’ve seen the Sargent Art pencils at Hobby Lobby and have been wondering about them! I want them now! As if I need anymore pencils lol PS I love the Castle Art #117 color 💕
Laurie, do u think Castle art are similar to prismacolor premeire?? i cant buy both but wanted prismas since u can refill by open stock but even not sure i will like pencils vs marker vs , etc. thanx alot
Hi Laurie! I have the Sargent Art pencils from Hobby Lobby but they are not the Supremes. They are really cheap pencils. I got my Supremes from Amazon.
@@debperez5110 Not the same as prismacolor premier pencils. Castle art pencils are dry and prismacolor premier pencils is more moist. The prismacolor pencils mix faster than the castle art pencils. If you did get castle pencils get light colors of prismacolor premier pencils to mix your castle art pencils. Or just get white grey and black to mix with. Its like adding water(prismacolor pencils) to powder(Castle art pencils).
Hi Karen I am new to adult colouring. Subscribed a little while back. I have just recieved the castle art pencils. I am so frustrated as a beginner because they have no names. I find it daunting as i have nothing to compare the shades. Would you know if a colour chart exists anywhere. Much love Amanda. x❤️🇬🇧
I have a few sets that are neither named nor numbered, so for these I create my own name/number charts and label them with stickers with the corresponding number. You'll find this to be the case with a lot of budget pencils, but even some mid-grades dont assign color names. Most do have a numbering system, but many dont give color names. It is quite frustrating and annoying, but in the art world, our goal is to be creative, so I get creative and come up with my own system that works for me. The names I give all of my unlabeled pencils may not always be accurate, but just to give each pencil their own name and number and labeling them correspondingly can help distinguish different pencils, for me at least. If you don't want to do that, my next suggestion would be to Google using specific terms like Castle Art Color Name Chart or if you use facebook and are in any coloring groups, make a post in a few of the groups asking if anyone has a name/number chart and if they would mind sharing it with you. Most of the people in the groups have such things on hand and are more than happy to share. I have created charts using Microsoft Excel, but I dont have the Castle Art pencils, so i dont have anything for those. I dont have the Sargent arts either. I just enjoy watching comparison videos for supplies I have seen and might consider buying.
Hi. Thank you for this informative video. I’ve watched it twice now. Question: is there a difference between Sargent Art Supreme and Sargent Art pencils? I have found both on Amazon. I have found the Castle Art on Amazon wish they were your price and not $90.00. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

So happy you could use them, you could always just get a few at a time and build your set up.
@@ZucchiniKitty Yep that is exactly what I'm planning to do. I have a list of 10 I want to buy when I buy my Prismacolor replacements I need 8)
Thank you, wow so close my eyes cannot tell the difference. Karen, how do you choose which pencils when starting a project. Or paints.
The paper in the book I want to color in has a lot to do with choosing the pencils I will use, some pencils work better on different papers.

Those Sergeant Arts pencils look suspiciously like the Schpirerr pencils.
Interesting!

DEB PEREZ Hi Deb, I think that the Castle Art pencils are similar in my opinion. They aren’t as soft but so lay down nicely and blend wonderfully.

Louise Scherbain I believe the Sargent Art Supreme are a better quality. I believe the others are less expensive and more student grade.
I got my Sargent pencils from Walmart... & i hate them, they dont blend. Im looking for prisma quality but not prisma price.
Mine are Sargent art Supremes, purchased on Amazon. But if you are looking for somthing else, I hear the Black Widows are nice, I don't have them.
