- Elevators provide a fast, practical way to move in our daily lives. The elevator - or "lift" as it's known in some parts of the world - was not originally designed with people in mind. Elevators carried materials and freight for industry, but they quickly became a selling point for hotels and helped bring about modern skyscrapers, including the Empire State Building. Join HCTV for a look at the evolution of the modern elevator and how Henrico's Department of Building Inspections ensures that the county's elevators are safe and sound.
Thank you !!!
So informative. Thank you,
This is surprisingly interesting.
This was really good! Not too long, but covered all the important bits.
Why is this video by a random small county so good. Love it!
They say ignorance is bliss, but can you imagine, there were such great minds in history, and you find yourself being one of them, and you invent the elevator, something that makes the world go around, to put it in somewhat superficial words, and society does not honor your name enough to the point that everyone knows who you were and what you did. We should be able to do that.
Without the safety elevator, the skyscraper would be impossible. Almost nobody WANTS to walk up 10 flights of stairs... let alone 160 flights!
This seems like it was made in the early 2000’s.
Actually, it was the buffer at the bottom of the shaft that saved the operator's life. The buffer is a giant shock absorber to prevent crashing of the car should it fall.
That is a complete misconception.
