I was at home prior to going on a seven month cruise. It was me and mom. She died in 1990 at age 50. She worked for local cable company and the Owner, Fred made sure we had every channel on our box. Pop built the cable company building. Luckily I had setup the VCR for when this special came on. We were watching it and laughing and then, Bob Nelson. I think we laughed so hard that we couldn't breathe. I love Nelson. He sent me an autographed DVD and he did a Cameo video for me. Everywhere we went, mom would ask me to do the Football routine. Their gone now but I still have the video. Love ya Bobby and I'll always be grateful for the gift that only me and my mother shared.
As a kid I had most of these routines memorized. Who would have thought this show would be the coming out of the best comedians of the time. Truly comedy at it best. RIP Bob!!!
Maurice LaMarche before The Brain, when he was SO much younger, and SO😂😂😂😂😂 much thinner! I loved Richie Gold, and this was the first time I ever saw Bob Nelson, and I was crying so hard by the end of his football bit that I had to stop my tape. Have loved him ever since, and I now own two DVDs from him that he signed! WOW! More notes: Every comedian and comedienne (yes, the wonderful Rita Rudner) are killer, and all went on to great careers. What a lineup!
I remember watching these specials when I was in High School and LAUGHING MY ARSE OFF!!!🤣😂 These are truly the greatest of the great comedians. Now so many have gone to that Great Comedy Special in the Great Beyond. Rodney Dangerfield, Sam Kinnison Bob Saget and now Louie Anderson. You just know, whoever they are, they will keep the laughter going!!! 😂😆😂😅🤣😆😍 RIP GUYS❤
What a great collection of comedians! That Reverend Jim impression was spot on. And the Rita Rudner joke about seeing a Picasso hanging in her plastic surgeon's office always got me. But for me, the highlights were Bob Nelson and the late, great Sam Kinison.
I remember my dad telling my sister and I to go to bed bc he thought Rodney's monologue was going to be dirty. He let us stay up and watch it. Then after Maurice LaMarche did the Star Trek thing he was dying laughing and we watched the entire program. A lot of these jokes were recited by us around the house. Good ole days.
Sammy RULED this night. I watched this the night it aired with my sister at her place, and laughed so hard during Sammy's routine I had tears rolling out of my eyes. She was fairly conservative, but she laughed too. Maybe not as hard as I was, but she laughed. This still goes down as one of my top comedy routines of all time. RIP Sammy ❤
I am looking for a VHS copy of this special. Will gladly pay for tape and shipping. I lost my Father-in-law's copy of this back in 1989. Would love to surprise him with a replacement.
I needed a good laugh! Watching this in 2022 and thinking...so many comedians have left us. Some are in this video, but others like Robin Williams, John Belushi, John Candy, Chris Farley...too many!! The comedians today just aren't the same. We can't talk about wokeness without getting back lash from SOME ONE!! Ahhhh.....the good ole days..
Of all the pieces Yakov Smirnoff has worked on, he was in Buckaroo Banzai Across the Eight Demension and The Money Pit among other notable works😎 A shame he is most remembered for Soviet Russia jokes.
She looked a lot more like a young Joan Collins than I remembered. What's weird was that back then her look just wasn't en vogue enough for people to have thought so. Now it's like "WTH was WRONG with us!?!"
@@MatthewGeoffino One of my favorite voice over actors. His Midnight Bomber What Bombs At Midnight character from The Tick cartoon was fucking hilarious. Made me look at the credits to see who did the voice. Maurice of course.
Does anyone remember the Matrix? Well. This video has been edited.. the joke at the end.. Are you on dope? The real end is.”then give me some!” Fuck Google!
I don't think the last joke of the last guy was the least bit funny! The youth of today don't need to be "doing dope"... as history has proven time and again... they don't know what to pay for it and end up driving the street price up for everyone $ !

This is one of the best nights on comedy EVER.
We taped this and watched it often!!!
The most quotable comedy special ever. I had most of this memorized for years.
As a kid I had most of these routines memorized. Who would have thought this show would be the coming out of the best comedians of the time. Truly comedy at it best. RIP Bob!!!
Same here. Almost wore the tape out in the 80's!
As an adult I still have them memorized
me three... doctor says I have Dain Bramage... say it all the time..
Exactly! These are still funny and this was the end of good comedy
Still remember every word 😀
SO much of this I have on instant playback in my head. I'd long forgotten these were all the same damned episode. What a classic.

R.I.P Rodney Dangerfield, Sam Kinison, Bob Saget & Now, Louie Anderson
4 of the greats for sure, can listen to Rodney 24 7
Thank you for posting! 😊
My parents had taped this on VHS when it originally aired and we still watch it from time to time.
RIP Rodney Dangerfield..One of the great legends of comedy..Loved his standup and his movies..
Love Richie Gold! He’s still out there doing it after all these years too!
So many great memories! I remember seeing this in HBO! Thank you for posting
I never forgot this. My favorite! Thanks for posting.
I remember watching this show when it first came out. My stomach was hurting because I was laughing so hard. RIP to Bob & Louie
Bob Nelson's football routine always makes me laugh.
Jiffy Jif
Still does 40 years later. 😂
Thanks for posting this classic Rodney Dangerfield's Young Comedian's special. Sam Kinison blew them all away! God Bless You All.
What a line up. Thanks for a whole hour's worth of classic comedy.
I remember watching these specials when I was in High School and LAUGHING MY ARSE OFF!!!🤣😂

Great Show and comedians - RIP Bob Saget - you’ll be missed!
What a great collection of comedians! That Reverend Jim impression was spot on. And the Rita Rudner joke about seeing a Picasso hanging in her plastic surgeon's office always got me. But for me, the highlights were Bob Nelson and the late, great Sam Kinison.
Some of these are legends, some are totally forgotten even though they have great talent
Even though not many people had cable back then, it seemed like everyone saw this special.
I didn't.
My best friend and I had it MEMORIZED when we were in High School!!!
It's so great to see this again.
THANK YOU!!!👍🏻💯
Cable was cheap
Geez I remember watching this back in the day.
I recorded this twice and both tapes got jacked.
So good you want to steal it, I guess.
Did you fill out a police report? 😆 🤣
I've never seen anyone do an impression of Dudley Moore! Good on him
Neal Damiano later in life that person becomes the brain of pinky and the brain
Shana Martin Ok?
One of my favorites of all time.

Then after Maurice LaMarche did the Star Trek thing he was dying laughing and we watched the entire program. A lot of these jokes were recited by us around the house. Good ole days.
And to think Mo is a well known voice actor now. Wish he had stayed with standup along with his voice acting. He's truly an artist
I RECORDED THIS WHEN IT ORIGINALLY AIRED…
Bob Nelson's performance one of the best stand ups I've ever seen
45:53 I died at this. Just try using this one with today's crowds...
Oh Bob!
RIP Sammy ❤
Bob Nelson was amazing! This was his BEST on Rodney
Holy crap, what a line up!
Richie Gold was hilarious
I Used to Love this Show!!
I am looking for a VHS copy of this special. Will gladly pay for tape and shipping. I lost my Father-in-law's copy of this back in 1989. Would love to surprise him with a replacement.
The empty glass of water...😂😂

Yakof Smornoff- they have Jokes dept. in Russia. 😅
That Yakoff had a great set! And his jokes weren't bad either.
Of all the pieces Yakov Smirnoff has worked on, he was in Buckaroo Banzai Across the Eight Demension and The Money Pit among other notable works😎 A shame he is most remembered for Soviet Russia jokes.
So funny!!!!!!!
@ 17:18 I had "Dane Bramage" ....still funny today!
Maurice would later be known as The Brain, the second Inspector Gadget, among others.
Life was so much better then. Darn progress
Thanks for uploading this- I haven't seen it in forever- but you should correct "Roger Dangerfield."
Sam Kinison absolutely killed it. Shit still funny as f**k in 2024
Maurice does Pepe Le Pew's voice now, right?
He has done so much voice stuff probably
47:37 timestamped because there may come a time when I would want to share this joke, without taking credit.
Maurice LaMarche 2:54
Richie Gold 8:17
I wouldn't have left.
This show started in 1985///NOT 1976!!!
6:36 - Its Chris Chappel!
Does anyone know when this aired on hbo what month
This was from the day before a ton of ignorant stuff became normal. Sam and Rita rate.. bob saget should be missed. He is the Flash hero of comedians
I legit had no idea Maurice Lamarche did stand up. All I can hear is The Brain...
I thought Roseanne Barr was on this, too. Very funny stuff by legends-in-the-making.
My favorite bit was the russian guy.
I liked the Jewish one most...
Rita and Rodney our Jewish and maybe the other guy too so which Jewish person are you referring to?
ahhhhh chuck schumer lying in a commercial....
Tell em Charlie sent ya
Is it just me, or was Rita Rudner something of a smoke show?
She looked a lot more like a young Joan Collins than I remembered. What's weird was that back then her look just wasn't en vogue enough for people to have thought so. Now it's like "WTH was WRONG with us!?!"
This has been a Message from The MFL, the Mother, . . No the NFL . 😂
Back when a hack impressionist could be on the Young Comedians Special.
And yet now Maurice LeMarche one of the highest paid voice actors in Hollywood. What have you done with your life?
@@MatthewGeoffino One of my favorite voice over actors. His Midnight Bomber What Bombs At Midnight character from The Tick cartoon was fucking hilarious. Made me look at the credits to see who did the voice. Maurice of course.
@@MatthewGeoffino just because he's a good voice impressionist doesn't mean he's a good stand up. Sure he's talented but is a hack comedian
Rita was such a snack
Last three guys are dead. Wow.
16:42 17:30 holy shit, Adam Sandler's Waterboy was lifted from this guy!
Does anyone remember the Matrix? Well. This video has been edited.. the joke at the end.. Are you on dope? The real end is.”then give me some!” Fuck Google!
I heard him say it.
45:40
really aweful audio
but vhs tape is aweful
Really “aweful” spelling
When comedy was great!! Now too political...politically correct, etc. Fkng nonsense.
Bob Nelson is perfect.. Rida is better
When comedians were funny. Not not so much
I don't think the last joke of the last guy was the least bit funny! The youth of today don't need to be "doing dope"... as history has proven time and again... they don't know what to pay for it and end up driving the street price up for everyone $ !
The "youth of today" as referenced in this video are all now in their 50s
all are dead or has beens except louie.
This comment didn't age well
so you jinxed Louie
Louie died yesterday JAN 21st 2022 at 68 of cancer
Ck? He wasn't on here.
@@Consider00 no dumbass. Louis Anderson, not Louie Pervert.
This is why 80's comedy was so fucking awful.
i retract that!!!!!! KINISON - FAWK YA.
Because you don’t get the references.
