Daz’s strategy seemed to be 1) try and tie the nickname to some kind of sports team, 2) try and tie it to some regional geographic characteristic, and, if 1-2 failed, move onto 3) guess Tennessee
As a Tennesseean, I'm thrilled to hear him guessing my state over and over.😆😆😆 I do wish, however, that at some point the girl would have said The Volunteer State, just to see.
Brilliant once again Daz. I finally beat you. That not saying much tho. Your recall of these American idioms are still very impressive for a non American. I'd bet on you vs most Americans. I wish I knew as much about the UK as you do about the US. But you did live here so I guess I shouldn't be completely surprised. You obviously pay attention to your surroundings. ♠
Exactly, the Silver Rush occurred in the decades after California's gold rush. The Comstock Lode created the population just enough to satisfy the US Constitution requirement to become a state.
Daz leave Tennessee alone… lol. I am just relieved to finally beat Daz barely. He’s whopping his family and so many Americans too. Man is a ruthless competitor 😂
Pennsylvania is called the keystone state because we had an essential role in the founding of the country. A keystone is an architectural term referring to the central wedged shaped stone in an arch that holds the other stones in place. I'm certain that again most Americans also wouldn't know that many outside of their own state and a few others. So you guys did a good job.
I certainly didn’t know Pennsylvania’s. I would have guessed it would’ve been something related to liberty or the foundation of the nation, but “keystone” is not the word I would I’ve expected for that. Makes sense though.
@@Alex-kd5xc if Fetterman wins, the stone has been demolished. Pennsylvania is a shell of itself if it keeps voting for bullshit. Elections in Pa. are the most corrupt in the nation.
The Tar Heel nickname came about when North Carolina troops held their ground during a battle in Virginia during the American Civil War while other supporting troops retreated.

Nice guess as to the origin of "Old Line State" for Maryland. But, it was not naked that because of the Mason-Dixon Line. Goerge Washington complimented Maryland's Troops of the Line during the Revolution. And, if you got a compliment from George, you wore it like a badge of honor. Therefore, the "Old Line State".
Can you guys get one of those play soft hammers so you can bonk each other on the head if you get a guess wrong. Maybe a different set of rules to know when to get bonked. Awesome video as per usual 😊
I got 20. I live in the Bluegrass State so all I knew all 7 of our bordering states as well. I see college nicknames helped you some but there were some others you could have gotten from that as well. BTW Hoosiers only has two syllables in it. Think of it as saying "who's your" as in Who's Your Daddy. 😆I'm kind of disappointed you didn't get Kentucky as the bluegrass region is not only famous as a genre of music (which has its roots in Irish reels) but also the area where they raise the racehorses.
You guys know more of these than many Americans. Good job! If you’re from Indiana, you’re known as a Hoosier, and the athletic teams from the University of Indiana are called Hoosiers. Also, the teams from the University of North Carolina are called Tar Heels. In the 1800s, North Carolina produced a lot of turpentine, tar and pitch from their pine trees. “Tar Heel” was a negative nickname people used to describe the men who worked in that field. During the Civil War, soldiers from North Carolina began calling themselves Tar Heels to show their pride in being North Carolinians. So nowadays, just like being a Hoosier if your from Indiana, you’re a Tar Heel if you’re from North Carolina.
Tennessee is the Volunteer State...remember its University's football team--the Volunteers--in their orange and white colors. Many states have their university's team adopt the nickname of the state if practicable, hence the University of Oklahoma's Sooners, University of Michigan's Wolverines, Ohio State University's Buckeyes, University of Wisconsin's Badgers, etc.
Surely you two are absolutely in love with the idea of adopting another child, and I'm here to tell you that it is in fact your LUCKY DAAAY! Say hello to me, your potential new dependent, full of love and adoration and 100% prepared to be molded into whatever shape you desire and find the most palatable. I'm a young 37, and if you hurry, I could be in your beautiful home before my birthday on the 29th of this very month! Wahoo!! *packs bag to the brim with smiles and dreams come true*

George Mason and Jeremiah Dixon, two British surveyors sent by the King to finally settle the disputed territory between the William Penn family (present day Pennsylvania and Delaware--protestants) from the Calvert family (present day Maryland--Roman Catholic). Calvert held the title Lord Baltimore. The Calvert family opposed William Penn's colonists who wanted to create a seaport on the Delaware Bay as Philadelphia was 88 miles from the mouth of the bay. I’m surprised the Tar Heel State wasn’t a dead give away Michael Jordan played basketball for North Carolina before he got drafted and North Carolina are the Tar Heels!
