What do you think about the Suzuki V-Strom SX? Will you buy it over the Rs 40,000 cheaper Gixxer 250, or the similarly priced Royal Enfield Himalayan? Do let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
Of course yes, even being built at the same platform, it brings a lot of changes along with it 1. Better high speed cruising, becuz of semi fairing & windshield 2. Comfortable Flat seats, when compared to slanted seats on Gixxer 250 & SF 250 3. Luggage space 4. More comfortable pillion seat 5. Looks, of course bigger the better. And last and most importantly, 6. The sitting traingle for the rider, A). It is an absolute mile munching machine B). someone above 30-35 yrs old, would always prefer this over regular gixxer
It is the kind of product i have been looking for, however I would have definitely bought if it weren't for the stiff suspension I want something as plush as Himalayan or at least RTR 200/fzs25 I loved G310 GS but that's completely out of budget, on road price is somehow manageable but the running and maintenance cost it demands is just too much.
Definitely the Himalayan. Suzuki got everything right except the suspension which is a deal breaker for me. I already have two Dukes which have 30 mm more suspension travel than the V-Strom. The other changes vis-a-vis the Gixxer add near-zero value to me.
Bottom line is: If you will spend most your time on the highway, get the V-Strom SX. If you want to ride off road a lot, get Himalayan. If you want the V-Strom SX but it's beyond your budget, get the Gixxer and it will do 85 percent of what the SX does. The price difference is not worth the changes. It should have been around 15k which would have helped undercut the competition too.
Indian roads and highways are like offroading tracks with heavy traffic. So it doesn't matter which commute this bike is for the suspension will want the owner to see a doctor. Himalyan is built as per Indian unworthy roads.
Reason to choose Himalayan : 1, plush setup 2, off road capabilities Reasons to choose SX 1, Refinement Better than competitions 2, effortless higher cruising speed 115~120kmph all day long 3, For most of us Ground clearance matters more than suspension travel so it can go offroading unless you do six feet jumps above ground, or ride like novice to bottom out at every bump. 4, Peace of mind,,, Service station only for regular service 4,
You don't need to do any jumps to need more suspension travel. I easily bottom out the front suspension of my 200 Duke on trails near me and it has 30 mm more travel than the V-Strom. If you go off road, the Himalayan is the obvious choice. If you don't, the V-Strom is the one to go for.
@@twowheeledparadox I said for Off.road purpose Himalayan 2nd point. But casual off road that is crawling over, V.storm can do it, although not at it's comfortzone.

How does it compare against the dominar 250. Since both are targeted at mostly on road touring, for someone on a budget is it better to go for the D250 and get some modifications like handlebar raisers and windscreen?
