Thanks for the video. You can get an ABV for the Spectrum, but it attaches near the chin where it's likely to be in the water if you're at the surface. I have actually adjusted the way I equalize based on my experience with the Guardian -- you don't have to pinch your nose, you just have to block the nostrils like you do with the guardian. That also helps reduce the number of nose bleeds I get from pinching my nose too aggressively.
I would think part of the price difference is that the guardian includes a second stage (and of course the quick disconnect and surface air valve). The lack of fogging would make the decision 100% for me toward the guardian. The spectrum seems overpriced for a regular mask with the skirt extended down a bit and an extra strap.
It's definitely what I was thinking too. Any good regulator will cost you at least 300 dollars, so you're spending at least 750 dollars, and also compromising field of view. Especially in cold water environments, you need a very good regulator, meaning it will set you back 500 to 600, and at that point, you're going up to 1,000 to 1,100 dollars. The Guardian is the best choice, hands down.
You can also buy a quick disconnect for your second stage for use on the spectrum and for me personally like the spectrum because of price and the soft nose piece
Nice video, but i want to know what it's reallllly like please ? am a commercial scalloping set up and we currently use the guardians but they are cumbersome and waste gas. lovely for swimming about but for legging it about hunting stuff, bit of an awkward hat tbh. Is this spectrum soft near the reg ? as in, it's floppy ? Does the reg feel heavy at the front ? looks like it would. Does it bend the mask moulding if you snag the reg hose ? do you reckon the reg hose could get pulled out if you snagged it while moving about ? does it expel gas well, we sometime get Co2 head off the guardians if working hard.. like the idea of using actual DV's not the OTS one that comes with Guardian. We use coms too. Also does the Spectrum steam up much ? Guardian's good for not steaming up but waste gas. lot of Questions but your video is one of the only ones of someone actually playing underwater with them :) Cheers
Out of the spectrum and Ocean Reef, which one do you like more? If you flood the spectrum eyes, will the purge button clear it? Can you breath through your nose on the spectrum? Thanks and I love your channel!
That's a nice pool you are using. Great video well explained pros and cons. Is regulator discomfort a regular occurrence? Don't see much FFM use here outside of comm divers
I would recommend playing around with the strap adjustments and making sure you don't have any hair or anything under the seal. Also, if you have it too tight it can also leak.
Do your research! Make sure you read reviews about the place you're looking to get certified through. You take on a lot of liability as a professional so you want to make sure you're being taught by someone who isn't trying to cut corners.
You mean when we're showing the nose piece and attachment places? Yeah, probably. Just didn't want this to get too repetitive to the first FFM video we filmed. Check that one out if you haven't seen it already!
Yep will do how hard would it be to do regular scuba regulators as well and yes that's what I mean and I've always wanted to no if you could compare the standard regulators compared to the equipment design for you girls / women
Awesome comparison of the two. I was curious about the Spectrum, but that confirms my good choice of the Guardian :) Thanks Melanie and Olivia!

Another great we'll segmented video! Love the full face mask content, makes me want to get one.
The OTS Spectrum can now be bought with the ABV attached.
You can also buy a quick disconnect for your second stage for use on the spectrum and for me personally like the spectrum because of price and the soft nose piece
Thanks so much for your input! That's all good information to know!
Hi i just recently started diving them full face masks looks awsome to use

Thank you very much - good informations 👍

Couple of OTS mask failures highlighted on different channel , with 2nd stage coming off from the mask, I prefer Ocean reef full face mask
Which channel and which mask failed please?
@@anemone104 check them out on the dive talk channel, the mask that failed/malfunction was the OTS
More than likely user error not making shur it was secure before the dive.
@@sw1yper dive talk even describes making shur the regulator is locked into place.
Great video very informative
How great is Spectrum Full Face Mask to the Ocean Reef Full Face Mask. Like how you, Olivia, are with Spectrum the best, in this video.
They said they prefer the guardian.

Everyone has different comfort levels so it's hard to say what is "regular"
How can u compense if u don’t have access to nose?
There's a nose piece inside, I have another full face video you can watch where I show it more specifically
Sorry to the two things near your nose on the OTS...why are they a thing? Can the be removed?
No they are what seals your nose so you can equalize. Check out the last FFM video for further explanation. They aren't uncomfortable just different.
Great video! What's the best peripheral/widest field of view full face mask out?
The OTS Guardian!
Love full face mask
How do you clear if you can’t pinch your nose?
Check out this video to find out! ua-cam.com/video/ry4yXLQi-m4/v-deo.html
I bought a full face guardian mask and I’m really unhappy it leaks on the forehead area especially when moving cleaning boat bottoms :(
Waste of money
I would recommend playing around with the strap adjustments and making sure you don't have any hair or anything under the seal. Also, if you have it too tight it can also leak.
Always tighten from the bottom to the top, solved the same issue like that
Nice video
I want to become a professional diver. do you have any tips

Great video wouldn't it have been easier to voice over keeping mask in place to point and demo

I have the guardian and my wife has the spectrum. She says it looks more bad ass
I like how she thinks!
@@FullySubmerged Me too. She wears it well
