    Great review , i love to upgrade to 40 ultrawide . i understand that you said too big for you , same like the 43" 16:9 monitor that i had , it's too big for me to operate at desk distance , but after i change to 31.5 16:9 , now i was attract by 40" ultrawide . i think i more on buying than productivity .

      I too have a LG 42” 4K 16:9. Which at half the times for my needs is too tall. And i find myself straining my neck. I sit ~ 8 inches away , I also have the 34” ultra wide (Flat). I can see some pixelation. I just ordered the LG 40” 5K , i hope this is the prefect monitor

    I like that you talked about feeling 'over-stimulated'. That's something that I hadn't considered in my search for an ultrawide. Frankly, I'd been looking between 34 inches / 38 / 49. This is the first 40 incher that I'd really watched a video about. I think I'll rule out that 49" now. Thanks

    Nice review. For the productivity, I personally found 3 27” monitors were the best. But for media consumption, the ultrawide was the best. For gaming, for me a single 32” monitor was the best. Not easy to have one set up for all. If forced with one set up for all, I’d still go with 3 monitors.

    They need to release this as a glossy screen, either with a QD-OLED MLA panel or MiniLED with QD layer. We need HDR1600 and Dolby Vision for movies!

    I totally get what you are saying about it being just too big. I totally feel I’d have the same issue of being ultra distracted. It looks amazing but it would make me wanna set up a game console with PiP and probably not get an ounce of work done. Probably just a tad smaller and it’d be a little less distracting. I just think for this price point, only 300 nits of brightness is a huge let down. For me it’s between this monitor, the Samsung viewfinity s9 and the Apple studio display. The S9 is on sale in my country for half the price of the Apple. I’m trying to convince myself to save $1000 and just get the s9. The things that annoy me about the s9 is I will not be able to control brightness or volume at the push of a button. Will need to pick up the remote control and go through a few menus just to do that. I’m also really attracted to a glossy glass display over a matte display. But still, to save literally $1000 after taxes by going with the s9 is too good an offer to refuse. And that’s with both the s9 and studio display on sale.

    Having tried a variety of setups, what seems to work the best for me is having a single 27" 4k monitor that I will connect to my MacBook in clamshell mode. I like the simplicity of just having 1 cable connect ethernet, keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers, charging and it's fast to switch between my work/personal MacBooks. I use a dual arm monitor mount and one of the arms holds the MacBook with a VESA mount attachment.

  • @TechnoLawyer
    @TechnoLawyer Рік тому +3

    5k2k!
    I think it comes down to how far you sit from the monitor and your use case. I sit a bit far from the monitor, and I need a bit more horizontal space than a 32in 16:9 4k monitor gives me - I often want four windows (mix of word, acrobat, browser usually) open at once and that’s a little too crammed on the 32in. With the extra width here, I assume it would fit perfectly.
    I think if I sat closer, one of the 5k2k 34in monitors would do it.
    The Dual Up looks really cool, but is all wrong for my workflow. When you work in US letter aspect ratio documents all day (or sometimes A4 aspect ratio), yeah, wrong aspect ratio.

I recently upgraded from a 24" 4K Dell to this, and I probably need to sit farther to not notice the pixelated texts...(it's a trade off, and I don't know which one is more important to me, more space or the resolution - being a Macbook Pro M1 user - so let's see...)
    I was also considering using a monitor arm, but this thing is so heavy that I was afraid it plus the arm will bend my desk 😂(I have to use the clamp but not grommet bc it's not in the middle!) Is it a valid concern at all?
