  • Fort Gilkicker is a historic military fort located in Gosport, Hampshire, England. It was built in the late 19th century as part of the Palmerston Forts, a series of coastal defenses constructed to protect the British coastline from potential French invasion.
The fort was designed to house a garrison of soldiers and artillery to defend the entrance to Portsmouth Harbour. It features a unique hexagonal design and was armed with a variety of guns and cannons.
Fort Gilkicker saw active service during both World Wars, but was eventually decommissioned in the 1950s. It was later used by the Ministry of Defence for various purposes before being abandoned and falling into disrepair.
In recent years, there have been efforts to restore and redevelop Fort Gilkicker for commercial or residential use. Its prime location overlooking the Solent and Portsmouth Harbour make it a desirable property for potential developers.
