Top notch restoration! Gorgeous vehicle!
What a Buick ought to look like. Well done!
Thanks! It is a beautiful car. We didn't build it so can't take credit for that. A buddy built this car over many years and it turned out sooo well.
Beautiful. My mother had a 1958 Roadmaster in white with light blue upholstery. Interesting that this car has AC, rarer in 1957 than 1958, but only hand-crank windows. Wonderful car.
A Pony of a Car Nice 👌
just gorgeous and the wire wheels make it.
Buick's slogan was
"Wouldn't you really rather have a Buick?"
Agreed. I love the look of the quarter style windows in back. Its amazing how little touches like that can make a huge difference. Makes the car look a lot tougher in my opinion.
Best looking Buick of the '50s. Love the '57s.
@@richardmorris7063 Yeah, only in pictures. It was another good looking year for Buick. I like the tail lights on the '54.
A Handsome Beautiful Car. Outstanding 57.
Deja Vu for episodes of TV's "Highway Patrol".....'2150 to Headquarters!'
Classic beauty !
Ya, she's a "flammin' beauty" for sure! Buick don't make um like this any more!! Gorgeous car, gorgeous color, & those wide whitewalls & wire wheels are it's "crownin' glory"! While it isn't tu-toned, I think a white painted side trim INSERT would have really been a tasteful addition!! It needs that special "added touch"! "Ach du lieber, mein schatz"! "Gesundheit" und pass da Lutefisk & veinerschnitzle poleaze!!!
The family car I grew up was a 1956 Special. Fairly ordinary car. I had no idea that "Riviera" was a model before say 1959, but now I see it was.
this car is a series 40 Buick special. there's three portholes on the front fender
Yes it is a Special 40 Riviera as mentioned in the description. Only the Roadmaster, Super and Century had 4 in 1957.
Restored to original? Hardly but a nice retro mod. Not a Century! It’s a Special. Ultra Rare to see a Special with factory air conditioning! Nicely done.
Omg u want it!!!!!! Dam
We must agree the convertible themed interior is a nice touch and this is a nice car and know of the restorer who put this car together. Really nice job. However a few things can be commented on. The original generator sat just where this generator looking alternator is mounted and not back by the fire wall as stated in the video. The original A/C firewall mounted evaporator box has been removed so the newer A/C setup could be installed. Also, those large bell flower shaped washers mounting the fender to fender well are incorrect as used. Those were only used to mount the hood spring mechanism. Just 4 of them. The OEM correct washers were small square washers with cut corners and were silver cadmium plated. They were used for all the engine bay sheet metal mountings. The dynaflow transmission was designed as needing not to shift from gear to gear as it was a hydraulic transmission, fearless resulting in a smooth as silk jerkless ride from 0 to 120 miles an hour which this 364 nailhead engine with a 4 bbl carb was very capable of doing. Also as equipped with a dynaflow and the 364 cubic inch 4 bbl 300 hp nailhead as equipped in the Super & Roadmaster model lineup it was a true 0 to 60 10 second car. It delivered nearly 4400 ft lbs of torque at the low rpm range of around 2,400. thus rendering the Buick nailhead engines a nickname as 'Torque Monsters'. So the comments regarding it to be a slow from start car and never capable of burning a tire are fictitious and at best unrealistically uniformed. I currently own 2 and have previously owned 3 others. On the highway with this much torque you can pass 4 cars in a row with the snap down of the accelerator and the engine responds much like as if is was turbo charged and that is saying a lot considering these 57 bucks weighed in between 4200 to 4450 lbs curb weight. Harley Davidson riders experience this same neck snapping torque when cruising at 60 mph then snapping the throttle back to pass someone. Same thing. Anyway this is written just for the record….
Except that is an INCORRECT bullshit interior. Here's a pic of an actual Special convertible interior: www.google.com/search?q=1957+buick+convertible+interior&rlz=1CAHPZZ_enUS586US594&tbm=isch&source=iu&ictx=1&fir=nE0pptR35kWG2M%253A%252CT47TU6KHghS9TM%252C_&usg=AFrqEzerx8Iw2FD2nMH78oWwFazZs-wwAQ&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjBoobCtZrdAhXMVN8KHRagBPkQ9QEwBXoECAEQDg#imgrc=Kyg6Uw3n86vuNM:
It's also a Special, not a Century as the liar claims at the beginning
@@Perknose Read the description, the liar accidentally said the wrong word. We advertise it as a Special, the only place it says century is when it is said in the video. On all the other websites we use where we actually advertise vehicles for sale it says special. Man some people are so harsh. And here is a link to a Roadmaster convertible interior...i.wheelsage.org/pictures/buick/roadmaster/autowp.ru_buick_roadmaster_convertible_8.jpg. Nobody is claiming it is the original interior so how could it be incorrect? He should have said pattern for Roadmaster convertibles but didn't. You assumed he was referring to a special convertible.
Second to the top in GM's brand tier. Beautiful Buick.
Thanks Dans Music! This is one of my personal faves out of all the cars we have listed.
@@ClassicalGasMotors My current favorite of all the '50s cars I've seen on the net. Absolute class and luxury.
@@dansmusic5749 And the Buick won you over! Yeah this car has some of the nicest bodylines ever designed in my opinion.
unreal car...great GMC producT tho!
the rear looks like a pontiac
@@Wallace823
It's not the name of all the hardtop Buicks, it's a body style for the two door luxury sport coupe only, and each bodystyle had it's own identity.
Ernie Gruhn here in winnipeg manitoba Canada, i have that exact car in garnet red, was my dad's car that he purchased new in 57 from murrys in Souris Manitoba,my car has a standard trans, that my dad ordered . The car sat for 27 yrs in a garage on the farm,it only needed a painting some new chrome...interior is perfect and original, the nail head now has been done up and is camed and features 2 4 barrels, i must note that auto trans that is not really an automatic.Dad hated automatics, thank god,i call her my hot rod Buick.Recently a friend brought his 57 for repairs, after driving that dynaslush,i think it.s the slowest trans i've ever driven,gm should be ashamed that they ever produced that,Olds had a regular 3 spd automatic and was quick fror a big car....i don't think the dyna could even brake loose a tire, any way your Buick is gorgeous, these cars are rare ....Ernie 1 204 955 6660
Why am I becoming aroused? 😄

Besides ebay I do know of a few places that sell aftermarket and restored parts here in America. classicbuicks.com/

That is not a Century...... it is a Special.....easy to tell by the number of portholes in the fender....
Yeah he messed up in the narration but it is correct in the description.
Not many left so it stands undisputed..
I can not understand why GM did put that roof on a special Chevy or Pontiac, from what I know only Buick and Oldsmobile had that 3 rear window treatment in 57 and it looks sharp
57, 58 chev's had very strong styling w/o that and Pontiac 57 Pontiacs were growing fins which I think would have been too many strong designs for one car, and 58 were looking for that late 50s fighter jet thing
I’ve always heard the first year for the Riviera was 1963?
1954 was the first year, it was actually the same as the corvette bodystyle but they called it by its now known name and GM used the bodystyle in the Chevrolet division and called it a corvette after making a few cosmetic appearance changes.
@@marshalllsmith2095 No Sir. The first Buicks named Riviera were the 1949 Super and Roadmaster two door hardtop.
@@santiagorubio833
Yeah you're right my friend, and I should have remembered that, because it's beauty was truly what made it the automobile that everyone wanted when they wanted a great car...
@@marshalllsmith2095 I didn't think that GM sold any corvettes with a buick name in the early 50's. I've also read somewhere that as the 63 Riviera was in early development top GM execs offered it to Cadillac which turned it down, and of course Cad and olds got big FWD cars instead.
Not a better sound than a Big Nailhead engine....
interesting that it doesnt have power windows or seat
Maybe because it's the LOWEST line Buick Special and NOT a Buick Century, as the jamoke narrating this mis-calls it.
More LYING BULLSHIT that the interior upholstery is from the factory convertible. It's NOT. It's not even close.
When they don't know anything about what it is, they'll say anything they wanna and hope you believe it..
Geez, lots of hate down in these replies I never noticed. I love how if someone makes a mistake or says something wrong they are "LYING" as stated below. The guy who shot the video accidentally said Century. Everywhere else in the ad it is called a Special. The guy driving in the car in video, well he built the car so I am pretty sure he knows a thing or two about it. I know you weren't really the one hating on it Rob Mastro but man some of these other people are so quick to form opinions based on 1 video.
nice but where is it lofl
next time go WITH HIM
wow these dudes didn't prepare for this at all. reading from a piece of paper. car is amazing though
What are you talking about? You see his reflection multiple times and there is no piece of paper and even if there was who cares? The point of the videos are so people can see/hear the car run. Tried to check out your videos to learn how its done but you don't seem to have any.
I've directed tons of commercials and won dozens of awards so if you want to see my work just watch television. but i was too blunt with my feedback and apologize.
what i meant was that the description of the car was very generic and could have applied to many restored 1950's american cars. it inspires poetry and the script should reflect that.
Beautiful restoration! BTW, what color is the red metallic? Is it a factory color? If so what's the paint code?
It is a 2 stage Red metallic. I am sure I have the paint code somewhere will have to look.
I really like the color. If you can post the paint code that'll be great.
