Pro tip. Get a 10 gallon tank, put neocaridinas shrimp in the tank, heavily plant the tank. when you get cory eggs put them in the shrimp tank. Shrimp will clean the eggs, not eat them, and your cory fry will be born in an environment where water parameters will be good and you can drop food in without worrying about having to clean out as much food as these smaller containers. I tried a few times to raise fry with no success the way he shows and other UA-camrs show but the way I mentioned above gave me alot of success and it takes little to know involvement.
I was just thinking of this in my head. I was thinking what can keep nitrates and ammonia low and not eat the fry. Then shrimp and plants came to mind. How many shrimp and what kind of plants would you recommend?
Nice video, your camera had great focus on those tiny fry. My Panda Cories (favorite) spawned for me exactly 1 month ago, and again just last night... 3 females in a school of 18 that are breeding reliably. Got 7 fry from last batch, we'll see how it goes this month. Got all of my fry and eggs in a 5 gallon tank, thinking of moving up to a 10 and trying that box trick of yours to hatch my newest arrivals. Thanks!
I'm not sure if you noticed this yet or not but if you are spawning pandas and aren't getting much eggs, they only lay a few each day over a course of few days. Keep an eye out and try to collect eggs each day. This will help you come up with a lot more. How are you hatching the eggs?
@@OtterCreekAquatics Lasso a good sized clump of java moss with a loop of fishing twine, put in breeding tank, and tape end to outside glass. Then wait for the females to find it and literally *shove* themselves through the very heart of it, where they'll all deposit several eggs in quick succession. Next day, remove that clump of moss to place it in your fry tank, and replace with a new clump. Hoping for your fry updates!
They are adorable little fishies, the babies ard so cute. Looks like you are having success using the boxes, congrats. Looking forward to updates. Love and channel support. 👍💕👍
I have several cory breeds but only one of this EXACT breed and I've been unable to specifically identify it to buy it some buddies. He's very lonely, so this video wad just what i needed. My other corys are all breeding like crazy. But I'd love to breed these guys. I love the blue.
Brilliant video..I have pepper corydora in one tank with other things and albino corydora in another tank with cherry shrimp, rabbit snails and a couple of other Amano shrimp..I was surprised last week to find over 40 corydora eggs on various parts of the tank..I left them and as quickly as they appeared they disappeared...two days again they again began laying eggs again so I utilised a breeding trap and collected eggs and put them in there..there are more eggs being laid but I have around 30 eggs in the trap which now have gone from white to a darker shade..I brought a new 75 L tank and its set up .I am hoping to use this as a tank just for any babies I'm lucky enough to have hatch and just see how we go..it's exciting as I never expected any of the 5 to do anything like this..I have 2 or 3 females out of the group and I've had them a long time so I assume they are happy
Hello , I am raising Corydora Fry too. Corydoras aeneus. My parents are the greenish color . I have had lots of spawns but you are right they are hard to raise.I have about 7 fry right now that are 2-3 weeks old. Thanks for the info , I am going to try your method. So I can see them better. My bowl is white , so I can see in it but not transparent so I can just watch it from outside the tank. Thanks for the info and have a great day!
Have you ever experienced fry having bubbles in their egg sac and gills? This has been happening with my recent hatches after a few days, and they never survive.
My eggs already hatched and I didn't get the chance to separate the eggs from the tank I turned off the tank filter and I can see the fey moving at the top surface of the water. Should I remove the adult snails and cory cats I have currently in the tank(no fish in tank) I'm scared to use a net to get the adults and what if the fry get stuck when I put the net in.
I just found a baby peppered cory today in my community tank. Think he's about a month old as he looks like a corydora just a tinier version. Only been keeping fish for about 4 months so I'm super excited to have found him. I've had a lot of spawning in the mornings which can last for days. But I thought the conditions weren't right as I never noticed an egg hatch. Plus there are lots of hungry mouths in there ready to nibble on anything.
It took me a minute to figure out why the bubbles on the left were moving so slowly, because it was a tank inside a tank 😂, not as good as your last video 😉 Love your work man 👍 Corydoras pygmaeus for me
@@OtterCreekAquatics I had 6 but I lost one, in a 23 litre tank with my male mutt endlers, and Do you want me to film some questions to send to you or are you OK with them in writing like I sent on messenger?
That looks great breeder net boxes are the worst just places for the fry to get trapped and die just put mine in 10 gallon by themselves may try this next time
Yea man they are working out nicely. I agree on the breeder nets. I tried them out but dont like them. I will move them to a 10 gallon once they are ready! do you put them in the 10 gallons right away
I’ve watched some of your videos and you seem to have a good bit of knowledge on the subject. I got a question. I hatched some emerald corys from some adults I have. They are around 2 1/2 months old and when I went to do a partial water change I lifted one out of the tank and instantly his eyes popped out and he swoll up. I put him back in the water and he basically floated around till it quit breathing. What do you think would cause this?
Mine keep spawning now- they love eating the eggs though- I pulled over a dozen so far, still within a week of hatching and 3 more eggs rescued from the bad daddies lol thanks for the tips
good information! In my experience, it seems to take a year and a half or two years for the corys to reach maturity and start breeding. So I am thinking that you didn't mess any spawns, they just reached maturity and started breeding for you
I had my pepper corys for about a year and a half before they started breeding. Albino corys; right away - but they were full grown when I got them. pygmy corys were about 6 months after I got them. So it probably depends on the breed of cory as well as their age when you got them
@@OtterCreekAquatics im going to start up a nano 5 gallon shrimp tank so idk anything helps ill be showing my friend whos getting into the hobby yur channel ;)
Yeahhh..... Mine are in a tank with some glo fish. I have an albino, peppered, and a green. I know the Albino is the mom but I have no clue who the father is. And I just got this tank this year. My mom accidentally put cold water in the tank changing the water. The problem is my albino laid eggs this morning. I had no idea what to do. And I don't have time to order anything. Not sure these guys will make it 😢
It's not difficult! Mine are breeding in a tank full of tetras, amanos and cpds. The fry are doing well hanging out with all the other fish, no additional input from me! Yay

Great ingenuity! We are getting a tank ready for some Sterbai Corydoras. I'm really glad to have found this video, thank you!
Thank you!!! I didn’t even think of that and it seems so much easier than the set up I have going now!!! I’m doing it right now!!!!
