They are formed by the big K-Pop (Korean Pop) company, JYP Entertainment. Essentially, they are J-Pop idols but with the same flairs as a K-Pop group (dance, visuals, etc). I think Suisei believes that they are widely known because of what she mentioned in the video, they were trending on Twitter for a bit and they are TWICE'S (a super HUGE K-POP group in Korea and Japan) kouhais. If you don't follow K-Pop or J-Pop on the daily, I wouldn't blame you if you didn't know them. NiziU is huge, but to a certain extent.

It's a tiny bit concerning that she slips back into her high pitched voice whenever she gets excited (something unavoidable when streaming games). Throughout the stream you could hear her very audibly clear her throat multiple times over the course of a minute. It's probably nothing to be worried about, but I can't help wincing slightly when it happens.
I'm too mesmerized by her ability to play tetris so well while talking, reading the chat and answering at the speed of a normal conversation to pay any attention to the subject she is talking about...
This made me realize that because I've already dragged most of the people I know down the rabbit hole, whenever I talk to someone who has no idea about Hololive I've also been reacting this way. lol I also had no idea what NiziU was before Sui-chan mentioned it.

as someone who knows just a little about korean music industries, NiziU is a *legit* jpop idol (not a kpop idol tries to sing japanese), it's just that they're under a korean music agency, JYP Ent.
I beg to differ. I think they are more kpop than jpop. My reason is that they follow the so called "kpop formula" where they have intense choreography in their songs and they also rap, and those are the things that I rarely see in jpop idol groups.

I know NiziU from seeing clips from the survival(?) show they were formed from (I forgot the name) and I checked out their debut song (also, forgot the name). I liked it, but I’m not a fan.
