Haha Michael lived in Delft for 7 years. When I am there, I will buy the soap. I was shocked when I heard you speaking Dutch. Didn't expect that watching an American shaving video! Kudos to you!
Menno, het is misschien al te laat, Scheermonnik gaat sluiten of is al gesloten - je moet snel bestellen of zeep van een van de online winkels kopen. Mijn Nederlands is nog steeds redelijk goed :-)
I read that cologne typically contains a bit more perfume oil than an after shave, so if you use the same amount you might end up stinking up the office, or perhaps the scent last longer or maybe both. EDT’s contains even more perfume oil
I love these soaps. I've got all three. Honestly, they all perform great but there is not much difference between the scents. I personally like the fact the scents are not too strong yet masculine. Great for this time of year. Again performance is top shelf IMO.
+Mark Dayoc I have not shaved with the other two, but the Soek at least for me brings back specific memories...so that one stands out a bit more to me. Great soaps, and nice to a Dutch artisan on the market!
I thought they were out of business. I liked the soap, but did not love it -- others really got great shaves from it. No, it's not going to beat out Wholly Kaw, or B&M, or Catie's Bubbles, or Declaration Grooming, or Southern Witchcraft, or...
+Tinus Koorn Instagram? Reading too many shaving forums? I think he has opened a new location, which looks like it might be an actual retail location, tijd voor een bezoek!
As always, it's nice to see local shaving products from your travels. I would just wonder, given the wider availability of such options in Europe, have you ever had a straight razor shave from a traditional barber (and how does the outcome compare to a DE shave)?
+borbetomagus I have had one shavette shave, which was a little rough, but if I go back to the place where I got my haircut, I will get a full shave there as well. Likely still a shavette, but the barber had a wonderful soft touch, and I think the shave would be good!
I agree about the feel of those blades. I think it may have to do with the thickness of the blade and blade rigidity. I do like the Kai Mild better than the Feather but I much prefer using DE blades.
I have been into traditional wet shaving for some time, years, to this day I have yet to own a single edge razor. Reason being the fixed impression (possibly wrong) I have of them being somewhat harsh, unforgiving. I wasn't sure, whether it's this particular single-edge razor you've used (I think you said it was a Kai) you're not as happy with or whether altogether, like me, you're not as much into single edge razors. Dutch shaving soaps..as you mention in your video, I think of the "Gilded Hand", De Vergulde Hand. Never tried it in any form (stick, hard puck, etc.). Would love to, *but* here lies the " mystery" about it! How come the soap is next to impossible to get (apart from ridiculous prices for such an easily found soap in Holland) it in the UK? LOL :) what's the idea, is the soap some kind of Dutch national treasure not to fall into non-Dutch hands? Joking apart, it's hard to get in the UK, and I don't think it's any easier to lay your hands on it in the States, Canada or even in any other EU country. Simply odd, altogether. Thanks for sharing your video!
+K Theodor This type of SE blade does seem to suffer from a rather common perception of being harsh, but then again they work really well when shaving other people...might be angle and pressure? The GEM style single edge are more rigid, but feel smoother...weird, I agree! I have no idea why de Vergulde Hand is so hard to get outside of the Netherlands, and at such inflated prices, other than the fact that the soap is one of the reasons the Dutch are so tall, so good looking, so smart, and such good dancers. No wonder export quantities are so restricted!
Yes, it looks like you can get it here (thanks to borbetomagus for the link): The Przemysławka "Original" eau de cologne is available on eBay for around $16 -- www.ebay.com/itm/PRZEMYSLAWKA-ORIGINAL-EAU-DE-COLOGNE-100ml-FREE-SHIPPING/302331272181?hash=item4664591bf5:g:oxIAAOSwcB5ZKyU5

+GoldenSteelTV I bought the soap directly from Scheermonnik, after contacting him via Instagram and email. I think he has a more full featured web shop now? The aftershave I bought in Poznan Poland, from the barber where I got a haircut while visiting there.
Przemysławka!!! Greetings from Poland :)

Great shave again, Michael. I continue to be in awe of your fantastic pronunciation of so many different languages!
+Marc Girard practice and no fear of sounding dumb :-)
Zo als altijd, weer een staaltje Hollandse uitspraak Michael 😉 het gaat je goed en Gods zegen 👍
Uitspraak is inderdaad weer top! A really nice review and shaving video l.
+Yvo Royer bedankt and thank you for watching!
+Ivo Kruchten my Dutch does not sound that great to me now, but then again it has been quite some time since I lived there.
Well, it still does sound great, Michael Freedberg
Przemysławka, mój ulubiony aftershave ! :D
It's really good, a lovely classic scent! I hope to use it again soon...
Great shave, another instructional video!
+Jorge Reyes thank you, and thank you for watching!

+MrUlski it is an eau de cologne, but not too powerfully scented. It smells great though, and nobody at work complained about how much I reeked :-)
Wow, you prenounced that wonderfully wel :D.
I do speak Dutch fluently, so I had better pronounce it correctly!!
Several guys have commented about the same issue with those blades . Still a very nice razor . Another great soap . I've seen it on instagram .
+Michael Ray time to try some other blades, as good as those are (and they stay sharp for a lot of shaves).
Yup, the soap is good!

Michael Freedberg where did you get that cologne?
+Mark Dayoc Poland! Borbetomagus posted a link in one of the comments to a site where you can buy it online.
Do I need this soap?

How the hell did you find that before me, I live in the center of Delft
+Tinus Koorn Instagram? Reading too many shaving forums? I think he has opened a new location, which looks like it might be an actual retail location, tijd voor een bezoek!
Michael Freedberg He lives about a 100 yards away from me :)
I got some yesterday and I love it
+Tinus Koorn haha, echt waar? Grappig! Run down there and tell him Freedberg sent you!

+Tim Omick Same here, but I would like to use the Mongoose more often and thus I will need to try some other blades...tryablade.com!
I can't remember the last time I saw blood in a Freedberg video!
+Stephen Fawking a little spot here or there, but it has been a long time...and hopefully it stays that way!

I could call the handle "the fatty" due to the handle design. Where did you get the soap and aftershave from? I never heard of them before

Michael Freedberg Interesting. I've never been to a barber shop outside of the US as I've been out once when I was in Mexico a long time ago
