    The bass heard in the strings at the beginning STILL gove me chills...even these many 25 years later. Amazing piece!

    Deserves to be better known. The passionate lyrical theme is one of Tchaikovsky's least known inspired. melodies.

    Only 4 years prior to this performance, the berlin wall was still standing...dividing the city...

    Why are there Berlin Phil principals playing?

      Not every Berlin Phil player starts there right away (principal horn) and if there is an opening colleages help out as substitute players (first trumpet).....anyone else?
