  • Hey everyone!
Today we put to work both the Farmall M to help finish preparing the field, as well as the Farmall Super M to get the field planted! The planter we use is a John Deere 495A 4 row corn planter set at 30-inch row spacing. I hope you enjoy the field work coming to a close!

Conner, glad ur getting your corn 🌽 planted, I like that planter we had a two row like yours, it was a three point hitch, planted many acres. Conner I enjoyed the video it brought back memories of me and my dad 👍🏻. God bless you and your Dad. From Kentucky.

I was told that when planting with a plated corn planter you need graded seed (All the same size seed). If you don't request graded seed you may get different size seed in the same bag. With a vacuum or air planter you don't need graded seed. Looks good

Thanks for this information, I did not know that! Could possibly be our issue!

drill that shaft and fit a roll pin to keep that spring under tension or stick a cotter pin in it

There already is one there. The vice grip ended up falling off and it still worked fine.

Always a satisfying feeling to get your seed planted :)
on another note, notice the black smoke when the super M was going up the hill? your Main jet needle on the carburetor is open too far, it is overfueling and wasting gas,, turn it in a 1/2 a turn.

I did note that, it’s burning a little oil too which I think is just the rings needing seated yet

@@ThisOldFarm Sure, there could be some oil burning smoke,
but the black smoke is from over rich fuel mixture.

The book says 6.70-15 tires. That could be throwing you off since there are old truck tires on the planter that are probably not the right size.

That’s a good point and possibility. I’m not too sure what size the tires are but I would be willing to bet that it’s a contributing factor.
