I remember renting a copy of this from Wand's in North Street, Bourne (now a Wetherspoons). They had a strange and eclectic collection, presumably bought as a job lot from a shop closure somewhere. They were all arranged in full public view for public browsing, among such sought-after collectors' items as Pretty Peaches and Candy Goes To Hollywood. 😀
asked him over a decade ago about properly digitising Cak! and he said it was something he wsas considering. Nothing yet but I hope it does get redistributed in digital form...if nothing else to ensure it doesn't disappear from view. I would do it myself but my vinyl has a few scratches. On a similar theme I'd like to see The Fish People Tapes, Barcelona Plates and The Dog Catcher brought out on something like Audible, as they are all brilliant
I used to own this fucking VHS! My friend still says "SAVE THE KIPPER" when he sees me! I lent it to someone in 1994 and never saw it again. It was originally a rental video but they sold it to me at Key Video on Albert Rd, Morecambe (where that documentary was filmed that's on BBC at the moment). Great video that I still quote to f*** now without fear of anyone hearing of it! Great vid.
Alexei Sayle's been a comedy god to me for most of my life. Look at the anger, the honesty in his standup...you don't see that anymore. It's all Live At The Apollo polished to fuck upper middle class Seinfeld shit these days. Reminds me of early Ben Elton, only without the smugness and the obvious insincerity. I'm kidding of course....Alexei, you are a whale among minnows, do some new standup!
