I just love your videos! They are so refreshing! I start laughing at some of the things you say and I in no way mean that negatively. Thank you for being real, down to earth, and entertaining.
Jean, I have not yet finished listening to this video as I have been here and there with painting our laundry room before new washing machine arrives sometime next week, I hope. But, another sad news came about the shooting in Hamburg, so I responded to that video ahead of this tutorial. It was so refreshing to watch this tutorial which was needed after a very hectic day preparing the laundry room for a new coat of paint. Thank you Jean, thinking of you and families. Love & hugs, Thelma
What a beautiful, emotional clip 😍😍😍😍😇😇😇😇😇such an amazing day, such an amazing brave Maxwell to give his Testimony ! You are so Blessed as a Family 🙏🙏🙏I send so much love, and many hugs, from Santa Bella Green. I am part of your UA-cam Family !
Dear Jean, you always are so precise and organized and always make sure everyone is beautifully informed about each step along the way. Thank you 😘 Love to the Trueloves ❤
I love you Jean, been following for along time but don't comment. You are a sketch!! Honestly I don't think I have enjoyed anyone or their family more. Wish I lived closer I'm in Californa. wah, wah, wah. Your family is a national treasure, for real!!!
I am in agreement with Cynthia M! I have completed one Kaleidoscope One Block Wonder quilt and have three (3) more in the works. I am so addicted! Thank you for showing us how to do this. Love it!
bye the way, My husband, although we are retired is literally a Carpenter and was a superintendent on many construction jobs. Despite having a degree from UC Berkeley in CA he preferred being outdoors. You guys are Awesome and I am so happy you have ended on your feet. Family is sooo important!
Jean, I’m sorry I didn’t get to tell you sooner but it was a busy day. Liz at MSQC did a video on a wallhanging size carpenter’s square today! How ironic everybody is doing this pattern this week! She also talks about doing it in 3 different sizes with precuts. I’ll try to find the link and post it. 🌷🤗
Can’t wait to start this! I’m working on the Dear Jean quilt, making a zillion flying geese, but maybe I’ll pause it for this 😊. It’s supposed to snow here this afternoon so meeting might be on zoom, we’ll see. Cynthia’s quilt is gorgeous! Can’t wait to see it finished, I hope she will share more pictures.
You are doing my Dear Jean Quilt!! YAY!! Good on you!! The snow in California...oh my word!! Frightening sites!! Thanks Sondra! I will be showing your lovely Block party quilt and your Kaleidoscope quilt in an upcoming video! :) So pretty:)
@@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory I’m up to block 12 😁 We got quite a bit of snow Thursday so we had the meeting on zoom. We’re fortunate up here in Redding, haven’t had too many problems like other places in the state. Our house is on the higher side of town, I’ve always been paranoid of living below Shasta dam so I picked a place that is supposed to be safer. Ya never know though 🫣
Wow! What an awesome ruler! Love your newspaper print fabric! What a great deal at $2.00 a yard. I’ll have to go through my scraps to see what I’ve got. I’ve promised myself that I’m not buying anymore fabric. I’ve got my own quilt store in my craft room. Just hope I can find a bunch of fabrics that will all look good together. I love yours.
This quilt pattern has been on my to do list for a long time. Looking forward to watching all your tutorials. I’m undecided what actual size I want to go with, so thinking yours will help me make the right choice. Thank you very much Jean, good to see you putting yourself back into sewing. Take care, 👍❤️😊
You do such a nice job on your tutorials, Jean. Your system for keeping pieces organized is brilliant for new quilters (and older, messy ones haha). Looking forward to watching your quilt come together. Thank you for taking all the time and trouble to make these for us, they are very appreciated.
As I was telling another person, I had made some lovely clear vinyl project bags with zippers and handles in our last home, (the house that was flooded) and now, in the melee that followed, I can't find them:) So zip lock baggies it is:) Thanks Molly::)
Really good hints to keep cut pieces organized. I waste time re-measuring strips that I have cut the day before and I would not be able to tell at a glance whether a square was 6 1/2 or 7 inches !
Hi Jean what a good idea to keep the fabric organised in the zip lock bags. I think this quilt is gonna be awsome. Can't wait to see the next stage. Greetings from London. I spoke too soon the other day we have now had a dose of snow. Fortunately it was only for a few hours in London. Take care.
Jean thanks for going through this step by step. I'll be making this but still undecided what size to do so I'm going to wait and see what size yours turns out first. Your background fabric is just fab!!! I love it!!! Also Cynthia's quilt is so beautiful. It just shows what you inspire us to do xx
Thank you for the kind comments. I so enjoy Jeans videos so wanted to share the quilt she inspired me to try. it just so happened my local quilt store is doing a class on kaleidoscope quilts so I picked up the book they are using.
Hi Jean, thanks for sharing this tutorial with us, I have just finished an Inman Park quilt which turned out really large so I am looking for a smaller pattern now and I think this will do just fine. Not too difficult but looks great. As usual I will keep your tutorials together so I can follow them at my own speed, take care 🏴
Hi Jean! First off, Cynthia's quilt is just stunning 🥰🥰 The wispy lines where the butterflies & dragonflies are just make it look like trails of their flight pattern! If that makes sense 🤣🤣 The fabric you picked for the Carpenter's Star is gorgeous. And that newspaper print-oh my, for $2/yd, I would have bought the whole bolt, too!!! I can't wait to see it come together! I know you prefer the "2 ruler method" for cutting, but noticed your long ruler with the cutter-isn't it 6 1/2" wide? You could have just lined up the edge of the ruler to the left of your fabric & cut. I'm right-handed, too, but tend to put the length of my fabrics to my right & move across my mat from the left to the right to make my cuts. If they're smaller than my 5" wide ruler, I use the ruler to measure & not my cutting mat. I know everyone does it differently, that's just how I do it.
I have seen people do just what you say....but this is an old dog here!! LOL! New tricks!! Or lefts/rights/lefts/rights....I get so confused! LOL! Many ways to skin a cat!! (.....oooooooo what a HORRIBLE expression!! LOL) Thanks Marla!
Teddy, I'm going to reply to ALL of my comments for this video, but saw this one first and thought I'd acknowledge and thank you. We didn't see the horrible news....but looked it up as I read your comment. Oh my word. Our dear brothers and sisters at the Kingdom Hall.....we live in such a wicked world. I thought of Ecclesiastes 9: 11 where it says..."........because time and unexpected events overtake them all". We most probably don't share the same scriptural believes, but through OUR bible studies, we can be assured that our dear ones who have lost their lives, are now just sleeping in death, soon to be awakened in a glorious resurrection here on a cleansed paradise earth. Not so far fetched when we think that that hope was the Original purpose that our Kind heavenly Father, Jehovah, intended for mankind from the very beginning. Again, I thank you for bringing this news, albeit, very very sad, to my attention. Be safe!
Jean can you tell me where I get the pattern for the carpenter star please. I’m yet to do a quilt but this might be the one with your great easy to understand way. I’ll let you know how I get on. Suzanne Leigh on sea England tell Ian that’s where the lovely cockles come from😂🤗
The 'pattern' is my video! LOL! I don't provide a 'written' pattern as such, you just have to watch how I make things, and take notes of what to cut and where. Thanks for taking time to watch me:) Ian is from Edmonton, but we moved to Norwich (Brooke to be exact)! Lovely area:) He remembers as a child, 'winkle ~ ing'!!! lOL!
I DID make clear project bags with zippers in our last house (that was ruined) but I can't find them!! Oh well, zip lock baggies have to work for now:)
I loved your phrase, " Controlled hoarding." I retire next year and have enough stash to last until I am 100.
"Controlled Hoarding" .....none of the "petrified cats under the boxes hoarding"....!! LOL! Thanks Kay:)
Thank you for takingcso much time to teach me this quilt🙏❤️👍🐾
You are most welcome:)

There’s something to be said about controlled hoarding 😂 best line!❤

I think so too!
I love Cynthia's quilt. The colors certainly attack my eyes. Thank you for the video Jean. You cracked me up with the "controlled hoarding" comment.
Oh I'm dead serious....I LOVE my stuff!!! LOL! But it IS in control!! LOL! Thanks Karen:)
Love this tutorial! I made this in 5 inch squares about six months ago. I want to try it with your measurements!! Perfect size!!
You can do it!

What a great idea, using a lazy Susan. I'm going to do that. Thank you Jean . X
Look out for one in a thrift store! People don't use them alot. And it really is a good idea:) Thanks Susan:)
Really good hints to keep cut pieces organized. I waste time re-measuring strips that I have cut the day before and I would not be able to tell at a glance whether a square was 6 1/2 or 7 inches !

I had to look up an Inman Park Quilt ~ what a lovely quilt!! This Carpenter Star is really quite easy once I got my head around it:) Thanks Margaret:)
I think I need that Fiskars cutter❤
Best Ruler Ever:) Thanks Amy;)

Jean, I do the same and place my pieces in a plastic baggie with painters tape. I am hopefully going to make this. I have soooo many 10 “ squares..
Wonderful!
Could you please write a how to do book of your fabulous quilting ideas?💕
LOL! Do I have fabulous quilting ideas?!!? LOL! They just appear! LOL! Thanks Cathy;:)
Ha! I made this on my channel a few weeks ago.
It seems to be a popular pattern these last few weeks!! Thanks Sheri:)

Where can I get this pattern to print ?
What is the name of the ruler/cutter you are using? I have not seen this product before.
It is a 6" x 24" FISKARS Rotary Cutter/Ruler Combo. Available at Walmart, Joanns or Amazon! I love mine:) Thanks Joyce:)
Jean what is the name of the pattern? I cant find it on Moda's website.
modafabrics.com/webfiles/ModaCharmPackChallenge_ModaLoveCharmQuiltPattern.pdf This is the pattern for the charm pack. I've made mine with 7" squares
