I did modern contemporary when I was 16 but never revisited. Im 28 now...And pretty stiff. I’m excited to learn not just for Memphis jookin but ballet is beautiful overall.
Thank you so much for this video. I am 21 years old and may not be a "silver swan" but I've truly missed the ballet classes I took as a child and wanted to rediscover my love for ballet. I am certainly not as good as I used to be , but this video is excellent for practicing the basics and getting back into it.
Thankyou RAD for sharing. I'm a Silver Swan beginner at "Hartley House Dance Club" in Plymouth and highly recommend teachers Maryam and Linda. Thank you so much for this. It felt like going home. I stopped taking classes 20 yrs ago, but I entered a RAD when I was 6-12. I have danced other things, but this is HOME. And live piano! Couldn't stop smiling the whole lesson. Thank you again!
Thank you so much for this. I am 69, never had much talent or coordination, though I went to a ballet school for eight years, and it is wonderful to discover that my body still remembers the feeling of dancing. I have always been hamstrung, though, so this is a frustration. I don’t want to force this, as it has a detrimental effect on my back. Still, after just two lessons, repetitions of lesson 1, I feel a difference in my posture and improvement in my balance. Thank you so very much for this gift of lessons.
This made me cry in a happy way. Now aged 83 and an ex ballet student (International Ballet School) this is the first video that is perfect. Aside from the actual ballet exercises - a little of the technique - explained in a friendly way. My leg muscles have become weak. Cannot do full plie but this will give me confidence to try again. Also, please thank the PIANIST. Often a forgotten part of the ballet class. One cannot ask a CD or tape to 'could you repeat that please'.
So good to see a beginner class with correct technique being taught for posture and placement. After watching several "beginner class" videos which seemed to be all about how good the teacher was. rather than teaching the student how to do it correctly. It is difficult to not be with the student to make the corrections. so IMHO more care must be taken when teaching on line . That is why the Silver Swan program taught by RAD teachers is so essential.
I loved this class, I have cervical dystonia, so my head is slightly tilted to the left and balance is difficult. But I have learned that ballet fbarre work for some reason responds to these movements. So I am feeling hopeful. I will make it a big part of my revcovery. I have taken ballet while in school for viola performance. There is a tiny bit of muscle memory. I'm excited. Many thanks.

Wholeheartedly thanking you personally, for creating and sharing this tutorial. I tried a couple of other videos before this one of yours. They were showing me basic ballet positions and moves of their ability. Not a teacher, as one should be in any given subject. So i googled for adult classes and found this. I’m a fan!! This will be a regular part of my mornings - can’t wait to progress into the other lessons too. Thank you!!

I am a 57 (nearly 58) year old lady and I have never attempted ballet before, and I know nothing about ballet. However, I have really enjoyed watching today's 'Silver Swan' lesson with Sarah. I was able to complete some of the beginners' exercises despite not being very fit, and I will try to watch the video again during the week. Thank you Sarah and RAD for this initiative which will help many people who are currently isolating because of Covid-19 to improve their fitness and their knowledge of ballet.
Thank you very much for the detailed explanation for each movement and I really enjoyed following it! I'll probably enrol a ballet course for adult when the lockdown is eased.
I needed the senior exercise today, its really good for the body and soul, more please. Thank you i do the normal exercises as well. But as a senior I would love more of these. Thank you soo much.❤
I really enjoyed particularly the piano playing -took me back to my ballet classes from 1952 onwards. I had assumed the playing was live for each lesson but I think not..even so its been a treat -thanks. Silver Swans Lessons 1-9 are now the core of my daily exercise -love it! and I am enquiring on our Nextdoor App if anyone knows how we can continue locally.
So glad to have found this chanel. Doing this beginners ballet workout along with the very skilled and experienced Sarah has been fantastic and I hope to keep this going. It's a beautiful way to keep in shape.
THANK YOU SO MUCH ....i am in Bordeaux and will definitely follow the lesson on a regular basis: we live on a vineyard and I'll do the exercice every day in the afternoon before my walk! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!
Love love love this. To snarky Jennifer below I would suggest you find something more suited to your age group. There is so little available suitable for over-65s and this is perfect for those of us struggling with unexpected issues.
Did you continue the whole series? And are you flexible(slpits)? If yes i have a question, were you able to do all of the steps? Because i really want to do ballet but i am NOT flexible and that's discouraging me
Thank you so much I danced this dance for 9 years but had to stop because of an injury and I’m going back a soon is possible I love your videos (I’m 15)
I didn't know I am a swan!? And really good I didn't find this when it was released, I was too young then 😃 Thank you very much, I was looking for ballet classes for not so young beginners, and with a good teacher! (Danced between 8-10)
Aaauwww, I wanted more! There are no Silver Swans where I live and online classes would be fabulous. Thanks for the little taster all the same though. 🙂
Hi Bea, Stay tuned for next week! We'll be releasing another video next Wednesday at 1pm BST. This video will stay on our website and social media channels if you would like to watch again. We will also be sharing information about Silver Swans Licensees and RAD Teachers who are offering online sessions very soon, so you can keep dancing at home.
I have arthritic joints, with two half knee replacements and a spinal fusion and I have kept myself going with reformer pilates for a few years now.(I am 74). It never occurred to me to join a silver swans class, I just presumed I couldn't do it because of my arthritic problems. However yesterday I found the lesson one video and gave it a tentative go and to my utter amazement I could do most of it, apart from the deep plies - my artificial knees won't bend enough for them, but my core and leg strength is pretty good from the pilates. So once social distancing is all over, I will join our local class. But could someone tell me how long you keep practicing each lesson before you go on to the next one?

YouDance has a variety of ballet dance tutorials....I've been using this awesome online dancing platform taught by professionals of all types and skill levels...and it really helped me gain skill and confidence....check it out : ) here is the link youdance.com/3
Thank you for this wonderful opportunity. I thoroughly enjoyed the class and can’t wait for the next.
Thank you brought back my days dancing when I was a girl.
I have ehlers-danlos syndrome and always wanted to dance, but not recommended to. Watching this is still inspiring and lovely.
Missing my Royal Sutton Coldfield Silver Swans classes with Emma.
This is great.
A brilliant initiative , I can't wait to join you all!
Very enjoyable,I hope my SS class members were all joining in to keep in shape for when we are able to continue.
brilliant. I am so happy to have found you. I'm a pretty flexible 58 year old and really excited to be starting ballet. I missed out when I was a little child!!
Thanks so much for joining! Join us next Wednesday at 1pm BST for more
Thank you very much for the detailed explanation for each movement and I really enjoyed following it! I'll probably enrol a ballet course for adult when the lockdown is eased.
We are so glad and what lovely feedback, thank you :)
She is only a tiny little Silver Swan inside me.....but she is 😍
Thank you so much for your detailed explanations and the joy this brings to me 💟💟💟
I needed the senior exercise today, its really good for the body and soul, more please.
Thank you for delivering great videos while waiting at home.
I'm looking forward to it.
Something I've also wanted to do. Thanks.
Fantastic, love being taught by you. Thank you so much.
Great, looking forward to this!
That was fantastic. Huge thanks for this, never thought I’d do a dance class with the Royal Ballet. Bliss🌟👏👏👏👏👍
Thank you so much - haven't been able to get to my silver swan classes, so this perfect.
THANK YOU SO MUCH ....i am in Bordeaux and will definitely follow the lesson on a regular basis: we live on a vineyard and I'll do the exercice every day in the afternoon before my walk! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!
Delightful! Thank you RAD.
I am in...! Recording my efforts for grandkids...
Love love love this. To snarky Jennifer below I would suggest you find something more suited to your age group. There is so little available suitable for over-65s and this is perfect for those of us struggling with unexpected issues.
Last 45 minutes, so excited!
Loved doing this thank you! 34yrs and always wanted to try ballet, now I can do these small workouts at home!
Did you continue the whole series? And are you flexible(slpits)?
If yes i have a question, were you able to do all of the steps? Because i really want to do ballet but i am NOT flexible and that's discouraging me
Really loved this - never done it before xx
Having never had a ballet lesson, this is just right, I will practice for next week
Thank you
Fantastic! Look forward to seeing you next Wednesday :)

Can't wait to start!
Lots of fun.Thank you.
Absolutely fabulous! Well done RAD and Sarah! Thank you!!! x
I've been looking for an exercise routine I can do each day! I've done some Adult Ballet in the past so this is great! Thank you!!
I didn't know I am a swan!?
And really good I didn't find this when it was released, I was too young then 😃
Thank you very much, I was looking for ballet classes for not so young beginners, and with a good teacher!
(Danced between 8-10)
Have done this twice now a. nd I absolutely love it
Thank you so much for these great videos. Confined to the house I can still stay in ballet form and just enjoy!
Check out my weekly free online video classes in all dance subjects - for all levels.
Excited and ready
Fantastic thank you. Would it be possible to wear black ballet shoes so they contrast with the colour of the floor to see foot work more clearly?
Thank you so much. I am sharing with everyone. So good at this difficult time for us silver... wanna be swans! Mahalo Nui Loa, from my heart!
Enjoyed this takes me back to my twenties when I used to last do ballet!
