The silver morpher didn't have to be that bad. Even different sounds would have made a difference. (No Anchor key...??) But, the worse the thing is, the more it seems to sell for later... some of those super cheap Samurai role-play weapons were listed for hundreds on eBay...
It's because we're getting older. Sure, there is a marked difference in quality in toys from the last generation, or two, say 80's-90's era, even the early 2000's, compared to some of the toys today. Thing is, just because we don't like them doesn't mean that some of the younger kids in between those years and onward don't like them. Most recent example of this that I can think of is the Jurassic World toys. When the first Jurassic World movie came out, I was shocked at just how horrible the toys were... They were absolutely terrible, misshapen, out of scale, and cheaply made.. Even Jurassic Park 3 had better toys by comparison.. But Fallen Kingdom? I've yet to see a single toy from that series that even comes close to being as bad as any of the first Jurassic World's toys. I don't know if this is true for the power rangers toys or not. I stopped collecting them around 1998 and sold all of them off to fund a new obsession i had (pokemon lol). and while I regret doing so, I cant say I recall them being too special. Most of the earlier toys really didnt have anything special going for them. The zords especially, they were little more than expensive plastic bricks that could parts-form into a megazord. They didnt have many if any special features. But it seems like for the past 5 to 10 years or so, the toys have gotten better, or more innovative, i guess, to a degree.. Thing is I cant tell if its just because the older sentai series produced less remarkable toys that got carried over to the states, or if the toy industry has been going through some sort of weird rollercoaster ride of quality/ideas, but by comparison a lot of the newer toys seem to be a lot more, i dunno, more fun? Lots of extra lil features that make them stand out, gimmicks, and what not. I'm sorry, Im rambling at this point, lol.
Those Fallen Kingdom toys are not just the best Jurassic Park toys we've ever had, but also some of the best dinosaur toys. (Dino Riders are hard to top though!) Those Marvel Legends figures have gotten really good. I can't explain what happened with Power Rangers. For a while I thought fans were being unreasonable for what they demanded at certain price points, but towards the end of Bandai's releases, the fancier things were most certainly feeling cheaper and cheaper, and then you compare them to other toys that are selling for the same price and say, "what happened here...?" For many much younger kids, they'll love whatever you put in front of them. Many would be thrilled with an empty tissue box. They don't care that this one has no paint on it and that one doesn't come with his weapons etc (well, some do... I was one of those kids...) Really excited to see what Hasbro does with the Lightning Collection.
Last week I saw the smaller, Non-combining Supertrain megazord for 10 bucks in box at a thrift store 3 hours away from me while visiting a friend. I walked away but I do regret it A LOT since it’s one of my most favorite PR/Sentai Mecha and I liked the slightly chubbier proportions. I don’t know why I didn’t just grab it, I had the money to spare :( I think I was briefly delusional about maybe having the full sized transforming version one day but now that I think of it I don’t actually want to spend the time or money chasing all of it down. I should’ve just got the small one
My biggest regret isn’t specifically Sentai or PR, but it is related? I missed the preorder for Toei Spider-Man and Soul of Chogokin Leopardon. I guess yeah, because the robot idea came from Spider-Man it IS related.
I once seen animus in Walmart and passed up on it thinking it be there next time when I came back.my stores never got the thunder megazord or samurai star megazord
As far as Zord docks go, the was the Bay 55 set from GoGoV (Lightspeed), though it wasn't released under the PR name, and it didn't hold the actual zords, just miniatures.
Was anyone else so psyched when you originally saw it and the attachment for Max Solarzord, then totally lost interest when you realised it was miniatures?
I regret never getting the wild force megazord. Wild force was what got me into power rangers and it had my favorite zords from the power rangers series to boot. Sadly Its too expensive nowadays.
I used to have the Ninja Storm Power Ranger figures even the green ranger and even the Megazord and they were amazing to play with even though I was 12 years old.
actually the super megaforce silver key also comes in the 20 key set which you’re gonna need if you want a full set of PR keys since silver in space, quantum ranger, and yellow dino thunder are exclusive to it. Robo Knight also comes in the set as well
Definitely there is a lot of stuff I missed out for my son when it was the new saban area. I only wanted to buy stuff that appeared in show (the zeo car from super megaforce didn’t appear in show but it was a toy). However when Dino charge came around and added four dinosaurs that wasn’t in the show but in the shadows in the entrance video. That was when I am like I am going to buy all the zords . The role play was a hit and miss. I like your video because you sit there had to think what you missed out on. Great video sir!
Had purchased the Alien Rangers but not the Borgs for similar reason that they didn’t combine. The other being the Mystic rangers (only purchased the Zords).
There is a Kyukyu Sentai GoGoFive play set . MMPRtoys has a review on it. it is not like you can dock the zords in it but it is like a playset with the trainzord
I have so many memories of going into the Disney store in the metro center and getting Ninja Storm and Dino Thunder toys, had the Wild Force growler morpher but I never really got into the toys until Disney got the brand. It's weird, people go on about Disney ruining franchises these days but I feel they did quite a lot right with PR.
RW:Alien Rangers was actually a mini series consisting of Ten episodes (temporarily replacements for the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers when All 6 rangers got turned into kids)
Also, not sure if you were aware, but Kakuranger came out with a set of 5 automorphin figures, which look very similar to the build of the Zeo automorphin figures, and they're the same size. rsmg.pbsrc.com/albums/v462/andr0s81/pr2007378.jpg?w=480&h=480&fit=clip Side note, I believe the white ranger here is a custom, as this person couldn't get a hold of an official one.
I wish I had the money to buy some of the Super Mega Force zords. They may have been not the best quality, but there was still some great creativity with them. Like the Zeo Zord, the Turbo Falcon having a Megazord form, and the Ninja Zord having a different form for an In Space reference. I also wish I could of gotten more of the Dino Charge Zords.
You and me both! I regret not buying Super Megaforce zords. They were terrible, but some of the new ideas you mention make them worth having. Plus I like the sliding in platform on the skyship, and Ultimate Legendary Megazord doesn't suffer from the peg port problem, although you need custom stickers to make it look normal!
@@powerrangertube I am hoping that Hasbro will come up with some inspired designs like some of those Megaforce toys. (Along with PR/Transformers crossover toy or toys)
I really wanted the legacy communicator watch when it came out , I didnt buy it and now they sell for millions of dollars or atleast 4 times the original price
I can agree with the moral that if you want something just buy it, and don't do what I did with the black and gold legacy megazord, ending up missing out on it due to listening to my girlfriend when she told me not to buy it. Now, what would be a black and gold ultra zord on my shelf instead has the 2010 Dino megazord as its core. Still looks awesome but it could have looked more awesome
Also my missed opportunity was the Gokaiger mobirates when the series started airing, I was so enamoured by the show but was afraid to import back then. I literally bought it today but for about £70, almost double the price it was back then.
I decided to take your advice on if I wanted something and I can afford it get it when I can. I just ordered dino thunder red, time force red, mmpr dragon shield black, and the 5 psycho rangers pack from the lighting collection. I was just going to get psycho red but he was only available in the two pack with lost galaxy red or the 5 pack so I got a full set of villain rangers rather than a figure I didn't want.
I don't tend to buy older toys as I got into collecting Power Rangers stuff when Bandai introduced the Legacy line. But recently, I have taken a deep dive into S.H. Figuarts. I recently paid WAY too much for MMPR Pink just to finish that set. Thank the grid for credit cards.
Totally missed Providus on an ebay auction. Could have won, but I had completely forgotten about it til it was too late. I can't stand it when I forget about an auction that I really wanted, and nobody even bid higher on it and it sold way too cheap.
I'm worried that this will happen to me with the Legacy Morphers. Like, I've only been in the fandom since late September last year, but I've wanted an MMPR morpher that whole time. Originally, the Legacy morpher looked appealing, but something has been bothering me about it, and I finally figured it out: I don't like the metal. The aesthetic just doesn't work for me, and when it's not a selling point for you, you don't feel like spending over $50 on a thing that basically just clicks open and makes a singular sound. At the same time, however, I REALLY want an MMPR morpher for my shelf, so I've just gotta hope that either Hasbro will make a regular plastic version, or that I eventually stumble into a decent enough deal on the original toy that I can justify it(since it basically sells for the price of a Legacy morpher whether it has coins or not).
Ben_ToaofFire I has screen accurate molds and decals and the power coins are a beautiful die cast. Also, if you hold down the button on the side it plays the full MMPR theme song.
EdgyWeeb69 You make it sound a bit more tempting, but one thing I'm wondering is whether or not the metal can have some long-terms issues? Like, could it rust or get tarnished even when just sitting on a shelf? Is it easy to damage anything on it? I mean, I'm not gonna be kicking it across a field on a rainy day or anything, but for the price, I'd prefer it to be durable. Also, do you know if they have any issues with the external coin sets? I'd probably have to get one of the movie editions(likely pink)because of pricing, and I'd prefer a Tyranasaurous coin in there.
i picked up the turbo garage when it was on toy shelf's i learned then if i can afford it get it, cause i missed out on the power chamber an that's what i'm still looking for
The only thing I ever really liked from the power rangers toys was the morphers. I had a few zords that got beaten up pretty bad with rigorous use, but seeing the morphers on screen made me want them in almost every series but I just never stuck with buying the toys. That and the role play size weapons, especially the ninja storm sword and SPD guns.
The ninja storm toy u mentioned, magna defender rotator wheel and the figure itself, the ninja ranger power, koragg and catastros, power rangers aniversary red ranger with dragon dagger and shield. A lot of them cause they are super expensive and hard tilo find when imported to my country and in my teenage years I kind of stop with power rangers
I regret not buying Qrex megazord I remember going to Walmart and seeing Dino Charge starting to fill up shelves and I was like eh maybe next week I'll get itll probably be on clearance when I went back there was only DC on shelves
