  • Happy New Year! This is a fragrance that I think it underrated in some ways. It's quite a brash loud one, but I've learned to love it and it holds some good memories for me. Glad it's in my collection.

    I love Joop Femme. Always been my favourite for the last 20 odd yrs. The only scent I remember people wearing in the 80's was Charlie. Joop femme was out of most people's price brackets. Was around £100. For 100mls. Even Dune was over £100.

Your entire review is SPOT ON by the way... practically every single word. Enjoying it right now. Going to be one of my fave new discoveries! TQ Tom

    I am so glad that you've done this review. My husband bought me this fragrance back in 2001 and well let's just say I was a dainty little lady back then just got married and this fragrance was too womanly for me. For me it was loud and not at all my cup of tea. At the time I was wearing J'adore Dior so I felt completely overpowered by this very mature fragrance which was Joop.

      +Roundbum Cheeks It's a great one! I love how it smells very Indian and loud. It's a great one from the 80's.

    I bought this one recently...You did a nice job of describing this scent. It's not my favourite perfume but I like it when it dries down...there are days when I feel like wearing a loud scent that gets people's attention; i keep Joop femme for one of those days..btw, it doesn't smell Indian to me but that's just my nose I guess

    Not sure if you are aware of it but Fragrancematt credited your review of Joop Femme in his video. You both helped me decide that I want a bottle of this. Thanks!

    Great review as always, so thorough. Cool top! What does civet smell like? I wish I knew so I could pick it out....

    • @ouch110
      @ouch110  10 років тому +2

      Hmm it's a bit of a weird one. To give you an idea, it comes from the anal glands of the Civet cat (yuk). So, it can smell slightly fecal It's a really musky/animal scent. It can really smell unpleasant. It's kinda dirty, I sometimes think it smells like a farmyard haha. It's really tough to describe, but..it's just distinctly..animal smelling. Luckily Civet isn't obtained the inhumane way anymore, it's reproduced synthetically so...no animals were harmed during the writing of this comment. haha. :)

    hi ouch! i've recently acquired this one but for me, this is not a sillage monster perfume. but the people around me and my mom says that it smells too strong and fragrant. is it maybe that my body chemistry suits Joop! Femme? comparing to the recent dior poison, which is stronger? thanks

    • @ouch110
      @ouch110  8 років тому

      Oh great! Yes it definitely a strong perfume. It may just be that you have gone "nose blind" to it. If you use the same perfume for a long period of time you become used to the smell but other people can definitely smell it on you. You just get used to it as the day goes on. :)

    Speaking of strong 80’s perfumes, you should try Rumba By Ted Lapidus (originally By Balenciaga). Would love to hear your thoughts on it.

    Great review :) Do you know any fragrances that have the main note, strawberry, that's worth buying?

    • @ouch110
      @ouch110  10 років тому

      Hi Paula, Strawberry...hmm. I know there is a note of Strawberry in "Miss Dior Cherie", but it's not prominent. I would suggest going for something like a body mist from the body shop for something REALLY strawberry-ish. I rarely smell commercial perfumes that have a very dominant strawberry note. The best thing I've ever owned if you can find it on Ebay is "strawebrry oil" sold by the Body Shop, it's really strong, kinda artificial but...will most definitely have you smelling of strawberries. You could then layer it in to some other perfumes you like to give a strawberry kick! :)

    Would you say it smells similar to Shalimar? I wore Joop for years and recently bought a bottle of Shalimar EDC - I cannot help but think they smell similar.

    • @ouch110
      @ouch110  4 роки тому +3

      It's the actual opposite, Shalimar is an oriental focused on fluffy amber and vanilla.,This one is a jasmine bomb, much sharper with vanilla in the drydown only.

    You describe perfume so well! Thank you so much! I'm looking for a rose-vanilla-sandelwood perfume. Do you know a good one? :)

    • @ouch110
      @ouch110  10 років тому

      Thank you. Hmm...so you want those to be the main three notes? Gosh I wouldn't even know what to suggest seriously haha. Erm..have you tired "Boudoir" by Vivienne westwood? It contains all three notes but they are by no means the main notes of it. I'm not sure of any fragrances that have those three as the "stars of the show" hehe. :)

    • @rinate4048
      @rinate4048 10 років тому

      You know, i like something but we don't know how to describe it...lol. i really like the shalimar initial parfume with the blue bow ( l have full bottle) but i want it sweeter on the rose-vanilla side. If you know what i mean.

    • @ouch110
      @ouch110  10 років тому +1

      Maybe you should try layering? Spray something more rosey over the top? Always an option, but personally I hardly EVER layer. I like to appreciate things for what they are.

    • @rinate4048

      I never understand how people do this? Do the wear it over the same spot? Sorry..lol.

    • @ouch110
      @ouch110  10 років тому

      Yeah, you would just kinda wear both at the same time. Spritz in the same place. I have done it once with all three angels (I stayed inside that day haha). But I put, the Liqueur angel on my neck, the original angel on my wrists and the taste of fragrance angel on my chest. ANGEL BOMB!!!!

    I am so scared yet so trigged to buy this perfume. I've read a lot of reviews and a lot of them kind of take on the journey with the description of it. But I am still not sure if I would like it, I want to buy it online because they don't have it in the stores where I live. Also your video incourages me to buy it... but idk what to expect, I guess as long as it don't smell cheap or like cotton candy I am fine. :D But seriously when I ready and hear all these comments of this perfume it's just leaves me with some kind of poisitve feelings, guess I really need to try it. When I hear for this perfume in my mind I remember song: ''Dont stop believing - from Journey'' and idk why hahaha.

    • @ouch110
      @ouch110  5 років тому

      It's definitely the opposite of cotton candy, this fragrance was made in a time before the influx of sugary sweet fruity florals. This one is really cool but it's also kinda edgy. A white flowery perfume with an incense feeling, it feels vintage (some people would say "dated") I don't think it's a safe "blind buy" but it's not super expensive. It's a risk I guess but...ya never know.

  • @shupiekai697
    @shupiekai697 5 років тому

    Hi ouch, I have been wanting to buy this for quite some time. Does it smell anything like Chanel no5 or Samsara. I have both of these in edt, but been hesitant to blind buy because I don't want another no5

    • @ouch110
      @ouch110  5 років тому +1

      Hello!!! I don't think it smells anything like either of those. In fact all three are worlds apart. It's not like no5 at all, it's much more crisp and almost like dirty jasmine with incense and no5 is fuzzy and clean powdery.

    Is it "Joop pour femme" similar in scent (or some notes) like "Joop pour homme"? Because I only smelled the one for mens :) and also is it a singificant difference between Joop pour Femme and Jooop Le Bain? :) Thanks. And also is it simmilar to Roberto Cavalli Cavalli?

    • @ouch110
      @ouch110  5 років тому

      They are polar opposite! They were made in the 90's when a female/male companion scent didn't have to match at all, they couldn't be further apart in the way they smell.

    The civit that smells like artificial honey to my nose is a note that i dont like in this perfume. I cant wear that. Do you know a perfume that has an incensy like that but more woody,rooty and resinous. I had an black musk perfume that smells like this hippie dna

      Absolutely. If the lady is 33 she would have been a teenager when this fragrance was first around so, she may very well appreciate it. It is a strong and heady fragrance which turns sweet towards the end.

      Oh my gosh I sent a big reply to this and it failed argh! I think it can yes. It has a slightly vintage feel but I think it's awesome. It also can be slightly dirty because of the civet. I just love it because it reminds me of India. There is something so exotic about it, like incense and times gone by. I wouldn't blind buy it though. As I always say, it's about how you rock it!! :)
