The “skip-stop train” announcement is taken from the J/Z. The first part before that is from an R142 (7) train code, and the rest is a normal announcement.
It would for sure sound more natural on the J/Z, but the skip-stop from Crescent Street to Jamaica Center is also disabled, so it would be confusing. They could use it as an off-peak program if it were to exist, and just skip over 75th Street and Woodhaven Boulevard with the current local program for peak direction skip-stop disablement.
They can’t send the trains express from Queensboro because there is a work train at Woodside’s middle track for the renovation program on the Flushing line. The next switch after that is around 74th Street - Broadway, so that’s why they don’t start/end until that station. The new skips only four stops, so they possibly could’ve gotten rid of it entirely, but the express trains are still packed so maybe keeping them wasn’t a bad idea 😂
@@EnthusiastTheFanner There's not much of a time saver in this configuration. I ride from Times Square to Main Street during weekday rush hours and it's not much difference. Before the service change the express would sometimes pass around three local trains on the way up. And it seems that they slowed the express down a little coming off the grade between 111th and Willets Point. Before it was barely slowing down and it was flying into the station.
@@rdbarne the new (7X) is still packed somehow even though it skips four stations now. I guess it did need to exist for something... but the old one was actually useful. The new one saves like four or five minutes, plus takes forever to even get to the middle track. And yes, they added more timers so no more 55 miles. 🥺
@@EnthusiastTheFanner i always found it weird that there's still timers even though its automatic train control. I was also wondering if the slow down into Wilets Point was for wear and tear on those switches especially during the summer heat.
0:26 Right after skip stop train in the annoucement happens I think there’s gonna be an ind or BMT annoucement lol
