I'm basically the first 4 in stages: 1 week before - the dreading going back 3 days before - the hot mess 1 day before - the unprepared 5 seconds before entering class - the bubbly 😂
For many years I was the bubbly one. Then they started messing with my class assignments and getting all in my business the last few years and I became the first teacher dreading to come back. I always struggled with saying no to extra duties too. Then I retired at the end of last year. 😄
I was the one who dreaded going back. Even every Sunday evening would bring about depression. I'm so glad I left finally teaching. I couldn't be happier.
I think you need one more..the overprepared teacher. Bubbly kind of covered it but the overprepared one isn't always bubbly but is always at school trying to stay on top of and ahead of things. And that's the one whose room the underprepared teacher is always going to.
Yeah finally pre k teachers are out there ! Been doing this for forty years ! And parents are awful and the paperwork sucks the life out of you because you know it is going to in up in the trashcan! We are not considered as professional just baby sitters . Is that why I use my whole weekend planning and preparing for the next week. I think it is time to retire very sad but true! Thanks teacher friends !have a drink ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Retired after 24 years. Was out for one year. This will be my second year back. Drawing a paycheck and a pension because they can’t find any teachers. My favorite saying now is, “ I’ve already had a career, find someone else.” Parents and kids love me and the administration basically begged me to come back. Make it fun for the kids and don’t be afraid to have fun yourself. Male teacher, going back to 2nd grade, Nevada. Most important; don’t listen to politicians or the media.
Please, look after YOURSELF too! They DO NOT pay extra for martyrs. I know, I was a teacher for 39 years & finished with cancer & other health issues. I’m not saying they’re all related to teaching, but it did have a significant impact on my life & lifestyle. That said, I’m glad there are enthusiastic teachers ready to do their best for our students - just remember, like in an emergency situation on a plane, put your own oxygen mask on first! You’re no good to your students if you’re permanently exhausted. Take good care!
@@theinvisibleswordsman1196 I am, finally! I loved working with my students,(mostly!), but I always worked in “challenging” school environments. That, plus the ever increasing workload AND lack of effective leadership were what drove me to retire earlier than I’d hoped. All the very best to you & your colleagues & remember to take VERY good care - of yourself.
I teach in Asia, I'm also the Guidance Counselor, while assisting an NGO with the village children who can't afford to go to school. The difference between the two is vast! I understand and approve this message 🤣
I love this - showing teachers as “real” people. I’m not a teacher but I’m a mom and I can totally relate to the “hot mess” teacher 🤣 Omg - then end!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🤣🤣
Used to be the Bubbly; this year I'm Dreading it. My school opted not to hire for the 5 empty positions and just decided to increase everyone else's teaching load at no pay increase this year. They also decided to increase the number of staff meetings because they "haven'[t been productive enough" recently. lol
Yup. Our school is rapidly growing the student population and shrinking the teacher population. Pay of course hadn’t changed in a decade and more than 50% of my 33 students per class have accommodations. 2 years until I can close my door from the outside and never look back. 2 more years. 2 more years. 2 more years…
So true! I'm the bubbly one. Last year was tough and my philosophy and motivation was that we were putting in the work last year to get kids used to school and healing from the pandemic so that this year would be more normal and manageable, so I've been looking forward to this year for most of the last year, lol. Sometimes, I'm also the hot mess one, especially in the middle of the year when my meticulous organization from the beginning of the year has had time to get mixed up.
I have a bubbly new admin who walks down my hallway each morning with a loud, "GOOD MORNING, TEACHERS!" We've already spoken that she is NOT to come near me with all that positivity. The kids and I are good with each other. We don't need that near us.
Dear Lord look over all the students, parents, teachers, school staff and support staff help them to achieve all that needed to have a successful year keep everyone safe from danger. Amen
I've never been the hot mess. I used to be bubbly then the system wore me down. Now I dread it. The kids still see bubbly though. Also, I used to be the always say yes. Once I got worn down and noticed all the "no" teachers sauntering the halls while I worked harder, I started saying "no" as well.
The Late-enough-in-the-career-to-have-everything-together-but-too-young-to-retire teacher: doesn't need to make new lesson plans, has taught the same lessons so many years in a row she has them memorized, and takes absolutely no nonsense from the kids. Insanely efficient. Doesn't want to be department head, but decided to do it anyway so she can control how much time is wasted (or not) on meetings. Huge asset to any newbie teachers, as long as she doesn't scare them off first.
I feel like the hot mess teacher, am the opposite of the "can't say no" and am already looking forward to a three day weekend.... And I'm a first year teacher....
I am the Hot Mess teacher, x100! In my defense I’ve only done replacement, long-term assignments so finding out a couple weeks before. This year I started off with desks and chairs…and nothing else. My teacher’s desk had a single bandaid in it! 😂 The bonus to the Hot Mess teacher is that, just like she did, you definitely make use of your classroom helpers (who in my case even remind me…”Miss Teacher, I’m the Paper Passer!”) Where am I not a hot mess? Online! 🙌🏻
I loved this!!! I am an Executive Director at an Early Childhood Center, and showed this to our 56 staff who absolutely could relate and laughed and enjoyed your content I am a faithful follower!
Our football coach who was also the Driver's Ed teacher was the strict intimidating teacher. He made my friend cry during her behind the wheel lesson and she told him "I'm never driving agian!". lmfao
Then there is at least one teacher running around the week before school starts, “Are you ready? Are you ready huh huh huh?” That way she can brag she is READY. One year we had to box up everything so they could ‘remodel’ the classrooms. I had 52 boxes of stuff. Friday afternoon before school was to start, the principal pops his head in and his eyes got real big and he says, “You know Marla, school starts on Monday.” The 40 desks were still stacked, nothing on the walls, and boxes still piled in the middle of the room. I told him I only had 30 boxes left to go, no problem. He was a little panicked so I let him unstack the desks. Obviously I was never that ‘Are you ready???’ teacher.😂Thanks to my son, I was ready by Monday and my students were happy to be in the coolest classroom in the whole school, Snoopyville, USA. 🇺🇸 🎉🐾
And none of them get paid enough to hear, "Billy would never do that" while tiger mom of the year is prancing about in the principals office totally convinced she didnt "raise" a heathen.
The BUBBLY TEACHER I just want to hand them YES THEM a POM-POM!!! I have never seen so many BUBBLY CHEERLEADER TEACHERS🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️. They have no idea what there going to experience 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️😵💫😵💫
I think it’s interesting that they used the same actors for two different types of teachers that kind of go together The dreading going back to school teacher/ the strict intimidating teacher. ( Dreads what the kids do and draw on the marker board and only knows how to deal with the chaos of it all by being strict- which backfires and starts the dread all over again.) -the bubbly teacher/ the “can’t say no” People don’t mind asking her for favors because she is so bubbly and nice which is why she can’t say no) -the hot mess teacher /the gossipy teacher ( gossips about others to make herself look better. )
as someont to only recently graduate, I don't mind the hot mess teachers. never bad to have a few extra minutes to gauge what you're like, and relax a bit
Thank you! We hot messers are usually good at improv’ing, funny, and creative which is why we lack in the preparation area. You need an art lesson or something hands-on and fun in 5 or less-> that’s me!
I was called "electic and eccentric" by a former vice principal. Loved school when we got to teach. Loved math books. Now school sucks, digital babysitting
I went through stages. I started as bubbly and never WANTING to say no. Then I turned into the strict teacher as I got older because students, parents, and admin used all of my patience up 😂. Then as the requirements and ridiculousness kept being piled on, I turned into the dreading teacher and then hot mess. Then I knew it was time to exit because that was so not me. I was burnt out.
2:42 - the only unrealistic part of this video is that the gossipy teacher is limiting her gossip to fellow faculty and staff. At one school I couldn't believe how much my fellow teachers gossipped to students, including completely incorrect gossip about me!
I'm the hot mess while I'm trying to say no & be strict at the same time- They started to debate about my age on how young or old I was & I fell apart! 😝😳😂

Me too
This will be the first fall in 40 years that I am not in one of these stages and I ain't missin' it!! Not one single bit.
Good for you. I don't even want to go in this morning.
Congratulations

And we are the ones who they they should do anything to get back 😂
It’s that’s bad 😮💨
That Sunday depression is REAL
OMG, after I retired, it took me months to shake off the Sunday night depression! Now I love my life.
Legend has it the kids in that last classroom were never heard from again
I think you need one more..the overprepared teacher. Bubbly kind of covered it but the overprepared one isn't always bubbly but is always at school trying to stay on top of and ahead of things.

Truth!
Towards the beginning of the week I’m the bubbly teacher, by Friday I’m most definitely the hot mess teacher
Me too! By Wednesday, I feel like a Zombie and I don't even know my name.
They cut out at the right time 🤣🤣🤣🤣
This is so ridiculously accurate. Well done 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I cycle through some of these during the first quarter…except the ALL STAFF EMAIL.
The first teacher is how I am on sunday afternoons to start the work week.
😅
The accuracy lol. I teach Pre-K but I still get it all!!
Same I teach pre k too

I teach prek, too.
Prek teacher too for 18 years! We also can relate to everything
Although I'm not a teacher, I am an occupational therapist & I work in public school. I'm definitely #1; the dreading of going back!!🤣
The bubbly teacher is so sweet I’m getting diabetes
My 11th grade English teacher was a hot mess 🤣 that lady was hilarious and always off track.
16 years and the Bubbly Elementary School Teacher. I have no shame. But at the end of the day, I'm exhausted!

"an extra lesson plan lying around?" haha
I can relate to all the mentioned personalities. LOl
Strict, intimidating teacher wearing a comedy shirt 😂
I can safely say I'm addicted to these Mr. Mack comedy skits
LoL, i'd b a combo; a bubbling unprepared hot mess saying yes, i mean, no. LoL 😅
I’m definitely the hot mess teacher and some days a little unprepared, so I just make it up as I go. 😂

Ouch. Haha. This hurt me on so many levels!!! The truth of it all.

I am usually the bubbly one during the three preporation days at the start of every semester. Then they ruin my mood by bringing back the students.
How about the daycare teacher? The answer to the question of this is we never go back to school. We just move up the current group of students.
"Do you have an extra lesson plan I could borrow?' Sure, I always make extra, just in case! LOL

I was definitely the first one for sure! Without a doubt! Grateful to be retired.
Hate to say it... I think I'm a hot mess and gossip. And the fact that the same teacher represented both... Gold 🌟😎😜
