Herm, I've been watching since the late 80s when I was a toddler, out of all the finishes I've seen, this just may the the greatest! And to see these boys hold onto em is flat spectacular!!
Exactly my thoughts .... Atlanta races like a superspeedway now but like old school superspeedway where there are comers and goers and you could actually work your way to the front from the middle of the pack .... I wish they could bring this type of racing back to Daytona and Talladega
I liked him too until he spun Shawna out in the third turn at Atlanta. Umm, just like he'd said he was gonna do. That should've been a career day for Shawna. She was on the pole and had a damn good race car. I lost all the respect I ever had for him on that day.
As a guy who's been watching NASCAR since back in the '60s when all we got to see was a few highlight clips of the Daytona 500 on Wide World of Sports - I gotta say that this was one of the best (if not the best) finishes in the history of the sport! 😎👍
I'll definitely agree, that the Atlanta race was the best "superspeedway" style race and finish I've seen. It's definitely the very best race offered by the current cup car. There's also no way that I can rate this finish as "better" than the final 15 laps of the Craven - Busch finish at Darlington. Watching drivers wrestle every ounce of speed out of an 800+hp cup car, is different than watching people flat footed with 550hp. But, yes, the Atlanta race was fantastic!
Commenting on the past; All 3 Wallace brothers on the track racing against each other must have made for some really great experiences... And Kenny may not have that big win 🏆 ..but has beaten both brothers on the track in the same race ...So in those scenarios he comes up a Winner against his brothers .. 😮
I thought it was best race ive ever seen ive been watching over 30 years and started as big big big Rusty fan and huge Wallace brother's fan for 30 years also love you guys
Thanks for involving your brother Mike, all you Wallace boys are true racers, and I love hearing your take on the situation, because to someone who doesn't race, it makes sense, LOVE YOU GUYS
I love Mike! Bring him on more. This race I loved for the multiple slide jobs, the constant changes in lead, strategy (pits and driving), the finish and... Everyone hates it because it was a change and designed by iracing. Hottest ticket in Nascar... Kenny and Atlanta! Says Dale Jr
💯 percent. I live @ 10 miles from AMS and have been going there and Talladega since 1976,probably 90 percent of those races. I told my son and Grandson on the way back to the car that that was the best race I've ever saw! Not only the finish but the entire race they raced for the lead. I promise there was even 4 wide thru the turns sometimes. It was awesome! And to think I was mad at first when they changed the track.
The Harvick Gordon finish at Atlanta was great in 2001 with all the emotion and how close it was. I hope the fans come back, I remember full grand stands. I hope the Fontana track build goes well and we get a west coast Bristol.
Herm you and bro are correct how do you not love the Wallace family and the love between the brothers That's what I have with my big brother and it's so appreciative that you see this amongst family and it was one of the greatest races ever
Good to see your brother Mike again. I remember when he drove for James Finch and Qualify for the Daytona 500 and finished 4th in the Daytona 500. Mike is one of my favorites and I remember him when he drove for TRG Motorsports in 2009 and Brian Keselowski in 2010 at the Gatorade Duels. Mike is one of the best.
As a 54 year old young man!! And a die hard NASCAR fan from good ol Wilkes county North Carolina and grew up in ingle hollar!! This was my all time favorite race of all time!! Because there was excitement every lap!! I will say that the Xfinity series race was pretty boring until the last 10 laps!! Always great seeing you NASCAR legends!!
Hi Kenny, always good seeing ur brother on the show!!! I think there’s been a few close finishes that left me with a smile thinking Dam that was a close finish. But this race was at least as good a finish as any if not the best because the whole race was full of action all the way to the end. (Keep being positive and happy go lucky)
Good luck at NW Florida tonight, will be watching on HTFTV and IMCA TV at Southern this weekend. 3 wide at AMS was pretty cool and glad the weather was good.
Yall look like yall having good time I live in Wilmington NC real close to the beach that beach in Pensacola FL reminds me so much of Wrightsville and Carolina Beach NC! Love Nascar racing 🏁 ❤
I have to agree Herman that this was a incredible finish. I think the "greatest" finish has to be a tie between Petty and the Silver Fox at Daytona, Davey and Kyle at the first Winston at night , Darrell and Terry getting beat by Bouchard at Talladega. This is different racing, different cars, different drivers, different technology, a different world than all the other "Great" finishes. I have seen a bushel of Great finishes thought the years and some of them wasn't great because of how close. You don't have to be 3 wide at the line to have a great finish. But the best race ever ? I can't go that far. But the best race in a long time, in this era, absolutely without a doubt.
Atlanta finish just missed the tire smoke and fender smashing like Craven and Kurt! This race had me tho like the old days! Had the feel of Carl Edwards bouncing off the wall trying to somewhere I can’t remember at this moment! Excellent Race
Feom the apex between 3 and 4, I was expecting the whole field to crash seeing the cars dancing back and forth while 3 wide. The drivers did a fantastic job getting through the checkers all in 1 piece.
NASCAR drivers set the bar way high after that finish. Good race. Greatest finish I have seen in my 56 years. Good luck at north florida speedway. Talk to the Hunt the Front guys. They can help you get around Southern Raceway.
It was a jolly good show. I’m not even British, but I figured I’d put that on there. Some points I’d like to make or questions to ask: 1) This was the greatest NASCAR race for this Gen 7 car. I’d take the 2003 Carolina Dodge Dealers 500 at Darlington as one of the greatest. I’m sure I could think of others. That’s not meant as a slam on this race. It was very good. 2) 2011 Aaron’s 499 had a 3 wide finish similar to this one. I think Ryan Blaney mentioned in post race interviews he had won races that were just as close at Talladega. 3) Increasing HP would help this race or hurt it? I need an expert opinion. How many years does this style of racing stay this way at Atlanta? I give it 4-5 at most. The track’s wearing out fast it seems. 4) If they repave or reconfigure Texas, would you use this version of Atlanta as the model or the version prior to this one? 5) I think the reason all the drivers were going all out to win this race is the fact they all wanted to win it. They also all feel like they could win it. Some races on some tracks - certain horses are for certain courses. Atlanta’s becoming like a Talladega or Daytona in that aspect. You’re in it; you can win it. That’s a good thing for this sport. Atlanta should sell-out for a while, and they should have a waiting list like Bristol back in the day.
I drove all the way to Talladega to see Mike run the Sachs/Marten Pontiac from Canada. (That was year Mike finished top 10 at Dayton a and was only Pontiac in the field I beleive ?) We were all hooked up with the team and when we got to the garage sign in to get our passes we found out that the car was withdrawn from entry list !!! ( we called Eddie Jr and he broke the news that the motor didnt get ready in time!!) was still a great trip , but I missed out on meeting brother Mike !!! 😂🏁
Personally, Best Finish I ever saw, and I am same age as you Herm. [8-23-63] Thanks for clarifying the "web glove" / "A-pilar" penalty. I really enjoyed Trackside back in the day and that they brought it back. Mike was right it is a long time for the fans when you get to the track early to get the car parked, to when race starts. I wish they would bring back 1pm ET start times. [I'm sure Networks manipulated that, also]. Good to see Mike, again!
Date: October 21, 1995 Location: Rockingham, NC Race: AC Delco 200 Mike was leading on the last lap when Johnny Benson made a move to the outside in turns 3 and 4, Todd Bodine dropped down to the inside, Mike and Johnny bounced off each other and Todd Bodine stole the win. Final race of the 1997 ARCA season on the then newly reconfigured Atlanta Motor Speedway, Harris DeVane beat King Kimmel and Andy Hillenburg to capture his only win in the series.
Nascar is on the right track. 4 wide for whole lap and 3 wide for the finish. What more could you really ask for as a race fan. Having the Trackside live is the greatest move of all, need to have it atleast for half the races.
I wish I had a controversial take to help you make content. I was on the edge of my seat watching those guys come out of 2 & standing when they hit the finish line. Spot on this was the best race. Multiple lead changes, wrecks, a 3 wide finish. To anyone who says otherwise I ask "Are you not entertained?" Nice to see Mike onscreen with you. Maybe allow him as a guest a little more often.
First it was good to see your brother Mike join you for this video, second I will admit that was the best finish in a long time, maybe since that battle between Kurt Busch and Ricky Craven way back when. Just my opinion.
Herman, Atlanta (Sunday) made Atlanta (Saturday) look like a completely different race. To be honest, it was wonderful seeing cars, who normally wouldn’t be there, being competitive. Whereas, Saturday felt very much of a letdown. Sunday at Vegas just crapped themselves. “How do you compare yourself to Sunday?”
Oh my God trackside on speed was awesome it's something I still miss yeah wall trip does his grid walk but there's nothing like having Kenny Wallace on speed oh do I miss that Miss it miss it miss it
Kenny. You are never speechless! 😶. But yes, that was the most entertaining race in years. Huge Rusty fan here, converted to Harvixk and now I just kind of watch because I don’t know anything else. Became a Rusty fan in his Pontiac days because my dad worked at a Pontiac dealership. Hell, I’m 48 now. So much has changed, but I do feel like NASCAR is trying.
Darlington 2003 Busch v Craven is the greatest finish in Nascar History. Atlanta was a good finish but it is still super speedway racing and really the only reason for the finish was Bubba got tight out of 4 taking away any push from behind the leaders. These drivers were not man handling their cars like at Darlington(remember Kurt was without power steering). There was no beating and banging(not wrecking) across the finish line on a track that tears up tires and requires drivers to manage their equipment. We have seen plenty of close finishes at super speedways. It is just different racing that makes Darlington much more spectacular.
I remember another great race in Atlanta. Back in the 90's. It was a Busch Grand National race. Well, it should've been a great race. Shawna Robinson was on the pole and was hoping for the best run of her career up to that point. Unfortunately, in the third turn of the first lap, somebody just flat took her out. Wrecked her. Let me think, that was.....
I'm not sure about the greatest race, but it was one of the greatest finishes I've watched. It's right there with the Craven and Kurt Bush finish in Darlington. I was on the negative side of the changes that were made, but they have a chance for the greatest race that has yet to come.
Congratulations to Daniel,Ryan and Kyle,heck of a finish.The only negative for me was ,I pull for Kyle,,still ,400 miles 3 abreast,at the finish line,from 1st to 3rd ,.007 seconds,damn.
For me, this finish was second to Ricky Craven's win over Kurt Busch at Darlington in 2003 where they both wrecked at the checker. The margin of victory was .002 seconds.
Nice to see Mike again. Hope you all had a good time in Pensacola. 🙏💖
Kenny's trackside show made the event's better. Good to see and hear from Mike.
So good to see Mike again, Thanks for having him on.
I wouldn't want to try one, grab 1 in the car.
Too much of a hassle to get from place to place. Don't get a sheet your family.
I'd like to try to drive one as it's cars. If I had the chance but I don't like to Having to be away from my kids for that long period.
I was entertained from start to finish! Helluva race.
Herm, I've been watching since the late 80s when I was a toddler, out of all the finishes I've seen, this just may the the greatest! And to see these boys hold onto em is flat spectacular!!
Not gonna argue. It was a great race and reminded me of old Daytona and Talladega races.
Exactly my thoughts .... Atlanta races like a superspeedway now but like old school superspeedway where there are comers and goers and you could actually work your way to the front from the middle of the pack .... I wish they could bring this type of racing back to Daytona and Talladega
Kenny, I love you man, keep it up!
Mikes my favorite Wallace, loved it when he won at talladega in the 33.
I liked him too until he spun Shawna out in the third turn at Atlanta. Umm, just like he'd said he was gonna do. That should've been a career day for Shawna. She was on the pole and had a damn good race car. I lost all the respect I ever had for him on that day.
We need all three of you brothers to critique a race one day live
As a guy who's been watching NASCAR since back in the '60s when all we got to see was a few highlight clips of the Daytona 500 on Wide World of Sports - I gotta say that this was one of the best (if not the best) finishes in the history of the sport! 😎👍
Truly amazing race. I need to watch it again ASAP.
Who doesn’t love close families, and leave racing out of it for a minute, so cool to see two brothers united 🏁🏁🇺🇸🇺🇸
Glad to see Mike out and having some fun.
I'll definitely agree, that the Atlanta race was the best "superspeedway" style race and finish I've seen. It's definitely the very best race offered by the current cup car. I have to say i love Atlanta, maybe more than Daytona and talladega. Its badass racing. Good to see ya Mike!

I do wish they would let them practice for 1 hour. Always good to see Mike.
Driver's need 1 hour each track.
Thank you Kenny........always good to see Mike Wallace with you.
Great race . Kenny if Mike ever had a car in the ball on a super speedway . He always has a chance at the win. Good to see Mike.🏁
Very interesting guys. Good to see Mike join in with you, Kenny
Pretty damb close great finish Kenny and Mike good show

Just one more comment, dirt track fans in NY would love to see you. And if you bring Schrader with ya, all the better!
Best race I've seen in decades! Reminded me of a time when I loved watching NASCAR. Even the stupid stages couldn'tmess it up.
Good to see your brother Mike again. I remember when he drove for James Finch and Qualify for the Daytona 500 and finished 4th in the Daytona 500. it really was a great race... and it was really great to see daniel suarez win in this series as he did...
Love you Wallace's! Thanks for being so awsome.
Love them.Wallace Men!!!!
Hi Kenny, always good seeing ur brother on the show!!! I think there’s been a few close finishes that left me with a smile thinking Dam that was a close finish. But this race was at least as good a finish as any if not the best because the whole race was full of action all the way to the end.

Yes, best race I have seen!
Been a fan since Rusty was in the Genuine Draft #27
Mike in the FDP #9 and Kenny #36 Cox car. Good to see you both together.
What I wouldn’t give to see all 3 Wallace brothers on the track again!! Atlanta was definitely one of the greatest finishes in NASCAR history!!
Great show, great race, best finish I’ve ever seen.
These first two races have me actually interested in watching Nascar again
nice!
Great video with kenny and mike wallace loved it
Great discussion!
Coolest race ever need more racing like that.
I agree the ATL race was great. I also remember Mike was really good plate racer.
Good luck at NW Florida tonight, will be watching on HTFTV and IMCA TV at Southern this weekend. 3 wide at AMS was pretty cool and glad the weather was good.

I've been playing Toby Keith all last week and man is that song still stuck in my head and you keep singing it it won't get out of my head but love it

Love your content Herman. One of these days i will find something to argue or complain to you about. That day has not come yet though
I definitely agree. It was the best race I’ve seen in a long time.
Totally agree. Was like the 90s again where cars could pass within a lap, side drafting worked, and were running wide open.
Finally something positive in NASCAR ! Love your videos Kenny ❤ !
That was the best finish I have ever seen other then the Ross Chastain move. Fast Lanta never disappoints.

Great race.
Great finish.
Great Break Down.
Mike was such an awesome super speedway driver.
Glad to see Mike
I haven't seen racing like that in a long time

Absolutely I'm a fan again
Good all time finishing racing
Besides the historical finish, the number of passes made this a great race. No one knew who might win until that photo finish.

Your the man Kenny keeping it real 💪💪💪
Some of Mr. Kasey’s favorite students right there. Fox High!
Gotta love the Wallace boys
You guys are right on 💪
First it was good to see your brother Mike join you for this video, second I will admit that was the best finish in a long time, maybe since that battle between Kurt Busch and Ricky Craven way back when. Just my opinion.
That was awesome! Bring the all star race there! Clash at Wilkesboro!!!!!
I complain when I feel it's just, but this was a great race and some good commentatinf. It was NASCAR again man!!!!!!!!
Glad to see Mike keeping you out of trouble 😊

I like seeing Mke

Race was so good I was talking to the TV!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣Good to see brother Mike on the KW show. Maybe he can be around a little more often.
I'm not sure about the greatest race, but it was one of the greatest finishes I've watched. It's right there with the Craven and Kurt Bush finish in Darlington. I was on the negative side of the changes that were made, but they have a chance for the greatest race that has yet to come.
yo! Mr. mike.. great great show... great... really really great...
aah back at the ocean again I would stay there forever
I was impressed with the 4 wide around turn 1
Congratulations to Daniel,Ryan and Kyle,heck of a finish.The only negative for me was ,I pull for Kyle,,still ,400 miles 3 abreast,at the finish line,from 1st to 3rd ,.007 seconds,damn.
Lets not forget about the FOUR WIDE RACING they did without wrecking. Please discuss it !!!
For me, this finish was second to Ricky Craven's win over Kurt Busch at Darlington in 2003 where they both wrecked at the checker. The margin of victory was .002 seconds.
Really like your stuff. I feel that wrecking in round d round is like a red light in drag racing. If you don’t you’re not trying hard enough.
