Regine is not an alto/contralto or a mezzo soprano. Altos will peak at D5 or E5, same thing with Mezzo, they may have similar range with a soprano (in opera) but it will require for them extra effort as that is already pushing out of their range.
You are right Petra she is a true soprano and if we will sub-categorize her, she falls under the LYRIC SOPRANO
- her voice type is not deep, and thick enough to sound like a dramatic soprano (eg Patti Labelle for pop music and Jessye Norman for opera)
-She also lacks the vocal weight, dark timbre that Spinto sopranos are known for (Jennifer Hudson).
Regine's voice type has more warmth, feminine quality, the high notes are thin, bright, and has resonance most particulary when she uses her mask placement/mixed voice. Regine is one of the only few sopranos who are able to master this technique. Yes there are parts or nuances of her voice that may have Barbara Streisand/Celine Dion but will differ on the high notes.
Regine's 4 octave lyric soprano voice remains stoic all throughout her range.

This was way back in the early 2000s (2002 i think) .. currently, she is no longer capable of singing this song in the same key and volume.. I suggest you watch her 2020 version of this at ASAP.. she already has difficulty singing it and she has to lower down the key after the bridge of the song.. main point, this performance is already a thing of the past.. her acid reflux (on top of her aging, of course) has greatly affected the range and clarity of her recent vocal performances.. but good thing we have videos like this one that remind us of her good old days that unfortunately she can no longer do in the present.. so sad but it is the reality.
